Salah’s effective ownership balloons as Triple Captains played

It has been a quiet Gameweek in terms of chips used in the top 10k.

Actually, for the first time this season, the most-used is not the Wildcard.

Only 0.62% of them were activated in the top 10k as opposed to 1.15% active Triple Captains.

The vast majority of those were placed on Mohamed Salah (1.05%), with Sadio Mane basically being the only other triple captained player (0.09%).

This is understandable ahead of Liverpool’s Anfield meeting with Fulham’s poor defence on Sunday. The Cottagers have conceded 29 goals this season, more than any other side thus far.

This interest in Liverpool assets is very evident in captaincy polls as well. Salah is the top target with 59.58% while Mane is second with 26.93%.

That raises Salah’s effective ownership to 121.76% being the only player this week with more than 100% average weight in the top 10k.

The closest to him is Eden Hazard with 92.98% and Sergio Aguero with 87.82%.

However, this very high effective ownership of Salah doesn’t actually mean he is in all teams at this bracket.

The Egyptian is actually in just 61.1% of the top 10k squads. Most of them captained him, which is why his effective ownership is almost double his raw ownership.

In fact, Salah is ranked ninth when it comes to basic ownership in the top10k

Ahead of him is Hazard (86.11%), Aguero (85.4%), Marcos Alonso (83.4%), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (77.2%), Andrew Robertson (70%), Marko Arnautovic (69.6%), Richarlison (67.9%) and Callum Wilson (62.4%).

Meanwhile, Marko Arnautovic has emerged as a very popular option amongst the game’s current best managers. Supported by his good form and appealing upcoming fixtures, he is currently the second highest-owned forward in the top10k and was transferred in by 28.6% of these managers this week.

The main fall-guy for him is Aleksandar Mitrovic whose top10k ownership dropped from 37% to just 5.9% in a matter of days.

While Mitrovic’s usefulness was clearly at an end anyway, such a swathe of sales shows the influence of the market. His value was on the fall all week, and these managers may well have also sold him en masse to avoid falling foul of that.

We could possibly see this as a sign that the so-called ‘template team’ can quickly change when it needs to.

For example, if we look at the Wildcard template of this week, we see Arnautovic and Mat Ryan making their way into the active teams.

Meanwhile, the defence options seem to be a bit static at the moment. The usual suspects of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Alonso, Robertson and Benjamin Mendy still lead the way in most squads.

Despite strong upcoming fixtures, the top 10k are yet to really invest in Arsenal attack. Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have effective ownerships of 10.22% and 3.73% respectively, largely on account of such a cluster of value forwards.

On the other hand, while Manchester City the Manchester derby ahead of them, interest in their assets is still very high.

Four Man City players have effective ownerships of higher than 10%, namely Aguero (87.8%), Mendy (56.1%), Ederson (26.5%) and Raheem Sterling (14.1%).

Not surprisingly, if we look at the Premier League teams with the most players per top10k team, we find that Liverpool and Man City are tied in the first place as they both provide 2.1 players per FPL team at that level.

Arsenal are not even in the top 10 sides represented in Fantasy teams in the top 10k.

Chelsea are a close third with 2.0 average players. Wolves, West Ham and Bournemouth provide 1.3, 1.3 and 1.2 players respectively.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool and Man City players will repay the faith of both their football and Fantasy managers this week.

Worried as a Sterling owner, but confident it makes him the best captaincy pick the week after against Bournemouth.

After years in the 5-6 digit wilderness, I'm up there with you. Well, a bit behind (562 overall).

But with 6 played vs the top 10K average of 3.4, in expecting an overall red arrow unless Mane matches or outperforms Salah tomorrow. Sterling instead of Hazard also a big concern.

No matter what, this rarified air is to be enjoyed while it lasts!

Anyone with triple Wolves defense going to play them the next 2 games with HUDD & cardiff because I am. Team with 1ft & 0.4 bank:

    Patricio (Fabianski)
    Alonso, Mendy, Robertson, Doherty, Bennett
    Salah, Hazard (Fraser, Barkley, Billing)
    Aguero, Arnautovic, C. Wilson

I'll probably do a hit this week selling Barkley to Martial & downgrade elsewhere so I can bench Arnautovic because I think Fraser/Wlson at home to Arsenal will get more points than Arnautovic away to City. Even though I have Fraser benched I will have to make a decision on who plays between Wilson or Fraser.

    Thoughts & thanks.

So I poured over the stats all this week and unearthed that Cardiff was top for set play attempts and that Brighton were bottom for set play attempts conceded and that these figures were reinforced when you looked at Cardiff's home form and Brighton's away form and that also Morrison was having an absolutely crazy number of penalty box touches for a defender.

So I punted on Sean Morrison.

The result? 2 points and a yellow flag from blurred vision while his centre back partner bangs one in in the last minute.

    😥

I brought in Balbuena for the exact same reason though, so I probably shouldn't criticize too harshly.

Admirable groundwork. Probably overthinking it. Cardiff tend not to keep many cs so I would never consider them. Was this a short term move.

Aye. I kinda turned a blind eye to the lack of clean sheet potential (a bit like recent Fabianski and Rocky Balboa owners).

To be fair, Jontys does let people speak at length on MTM vids.

          Well played indeed.

Unfortunately I ballsed up by hastily bringing in Murray; pricing me out of Maddy to Martial the following week. Rookie error. After Murray was subbed after 63 mins, I reckon I might kick him straight back out again.

Yeah Murray was a bad move, would never bring him in the week he has an away fixture. Has a couple of decent fixtures coming up though.

I don’t really care too much whether the fixture is home or away, normally base it on the upcoming 6-7 fixtures, but I take your point.

He does have some good fixtures, I agree, but so do Wolves. Might just switch him for Jimenez straight away. Yeah, patience and all that but often the most difficult trade is the one where you have to admit you f**ked up 🙂

Well you should care about whether the fixture is home or away especially for a team like Brighton who are known for being very strong at home and not so much away. Just look at Murray's record this season, 5 of his 6 goals were scored at home.

His upcoming 7 fixtures (including this GW):
                car/LEI/hud/CPL/bur/CHE/bou

                4/7 away.

I'd probably keep till atleast after the CPL game though. Jiminez is a poor option imo, he's one of the worst finishers regularly starting up top in the PL. He's never scored many goals.

I think the attraction with Jimenez is that he does get quite a few assists and he’s a million cheaper than Murray which gives me more flexibility to upgrade Maddison.

He's not that bad. Quality player irl though. I reckon he'll hit double digits for both goals and assists. Good value. Good chance of taking pens too

It will be a first in his career for either of those so I'd be impressed. Discounting, the penalty last GW, he has scored 1/8 big chances. I'm just not convinced on him yet but at his price he's delivering well to be fair.

Tough fixtures and a very shaky start. But yeah, I'm not going to argue. I thought I could see them tightening up as a team and figured they would get a handful of clean sheets over the coming fixtures, but watching them ship two goals from nowhere to a Burnley side who didn't really pose any sort of threat was a wake up call.

It seems this Pellegrini's team doesn't. At least Fab can make some saves. Just need Balbuena to score half a dozen headers and I'll be set.

    Early advice please
Was all set for A but now thinking B with Wolves fixtures or am I just putting off a decision on whether to lose Salah or Mane and whether to keep both or one of Fraser and Wilson. B also kinda forces Salah rather than Mane out if want Fraser to Laca down the line

    A. Mane and Ihenanacho to
    Sterling and Kamara -4
    B. Ihenanacho to Jimenez for free?

    Ederson Hamer

    Alonso Mendy Robertson Chilwell Bennett

    Salah Mane Hazard Fraser Stephens

    Arnie Wilson Iheanacho

    1. Mull
      • 12 Years

B by itself looks fine. If you're going to take a hit then get rid of a Bournemouth player because their fixtures are woeful.

Thanks even Wilson ( who is still being bought 🙂 )
To fodder still leaves me .2 short of Mane > Sterling for a hit so yeah B look good for now.
Wilson > fodder down the line to beef up and already decent defence and mid seems pointless so might do B for now with Sterling and Laca in down the line.

Not on WC but finally coming to the same conclusion except I was looking at Sterling rather than Kun - but same difference.
It can be done with 3 junk mostly non playing on the bench, just too unbalanced. I would rather keep RAM and sacrifice up top.

Based off my team, I can do two transfers to get this and get those four:

      Patricio
      Mendy - Robbo - Luiz - Bennet - (Wan B)
      Salah - Hazard - Sterling - 4.5 - 4.5
      Aguero - Arnie

      Fraser.

Your team doesn't need Doherty in defence.

It wouldn't hurt tho, I still have my WC left so figure I can waste transfers like that. Thanks!

Double Everton is going to look very silly in 4 GWs time.

Not many teams I'd be doubling up on, definitely not Everton.

It's not about Everton. Both are individually great fantasy assets playing in an attacking team and are involved in nearly all their goals

Just noticed the price updates on the sidebar. Very nice.

Next they'll have the top 10k statistics on there, and then eventually the weather so I won't need to log onto any site except for FFS.

Playing the TC chip, what is the # in your mind a player scores for you to activate it, regardless of DGW or Fulham.

    18 for me, you?

Anything below around 11 or 12 points would be disappointing

True, but I still go in wanting 18, generally I have only played it for DGW.

From the top 12 OR last season, the average with the TC was 4.75. I'd happily take around 8 or 9 points. I've got Salah triple captain today, actually.
