A busy Sunday afternoon of Premier League football gets underway at 12:00 GMT, with Liverpool taking on Fulham at Anfield.

This game, for many Fantasy managers, is perhaps the most eagerly anticipated fixture of the weekend, with those who own Liverpool assets hoping that Slavisa Jokanovic’s side continue their woeful defensive form as they visit Anfield.

The Cottagers are the only Premier League club yet to record a clean sheet in 2018/19 and the west London side have conceded more goals (29) than any of their divisional rivals.

There were no major shocks on the release of the Liverpool teamsheet, with Sadio Mane (£9.9m), Mohamed Salah (£13.0m), Roberto Firmino (£9.2m), Alisson (£5.7m), Andrew Robertson (£6.4m) and Virgil van Dijk (£6.0m) – all of whom have double-digit ownership – named among Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£5.0m) lines up at right-back, too, confounding fears he might be rested for this encounter after two somewhat below-par performances against Arsenal and Red Star.

Xherdan Shaqiri (£7.0m) joins the Liverpool attack in what looks like a 4-2-3-1 formation, which could see Salah used as the spearhead – as he was against Cardiff City in Gameweek 10 and in the second half of Tuesday’s defeat in Belgrade.

The Swiss midfielder has delivered three assists in his two league starts for Liverpool this season and came off the bench to score in that win over Neil Warnock’s side a fortnight ago.

Mane and Salah are averaging 8.0 and 8.4 FPL points per fixture at Anfield this season.

Mane has been the more explosive of the pair in 2018/19, delivering four double-digit hauls to Salah’s one, though the Senegal international has blanked in six of his ten league appearances this campaign.

Salah is the most-captained player of Gameweek 12, with Mane and Firmino the fifth and seventh-most popular options respectively.

Jokanovic has made three changes to his Fulham starting XI from the side that slumped to defeat at Huddersfield last Monday: Cyrus Christie (£4.2m), Alfie Mawson (£4.9m) and Calum Chambers (£4.2m) come into the team at the expense of Timothy Fosu-Mensah (£4.5m), Jean Michael Seri (£5.3m) and Luciano Vietto (£5.5m).

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Shaqiri, Salah, Mane, Firmino.

Fulham XI: Rico, Christie, Chambers, Le Marchand, Mawson, Odoi, Anguissa, Cairney, Sessegnon, Schurrle, Mitrovic.

Although I'm disappointed with Salah TC, its still better than a Kane 3 points 😀 Not too disheartened, at worst I'll miss out on about 10 points if others nail the TC.

Why is it with people reassuring themselves on here? Can’t you simply hold your hand up and say you took a punt on a single GW that didn’t pay off? Acknowledging that playing TC in a DGW is a better stastical play?

Very much this. Last season was an aberration statistically - on each of the previous two seasons we had popular TC options scoring close to 30 points in DGWs.

SGW TC is always a gamble - sometimes it might pay off of course (e.g. Salah 29 points vs. Watford last year!), but most of the time players don't score hat-tricks...

Yeah, at least he didn't blank for you.

But at worst you'll lose lots more. Say Kane scores b2b hattrick or something. Highly unlikely but anything can happen.

That's the thing - back to back hat-trick is not needed. Even 1 goal per match, with 1 assist thrown in, is about 20 points.

I wasn't disagreeing with you - I'm just saying that even something more commonplace, such as 2 goals and 1 assist over 2 matches, can be costly.

Guys do the maths here, I will still captain the player everyone triple captains... I will just miss out on the extra captain. So I got an extra 8 from the third captain, say most triple captain Aguero and he gets 20 in a DGW. They'll get 60 points, I'll get 40 points plus my 8 points for my TC so that's 12 points difference (basically 10 :P). And that's pretty much at worst, not many get over 20 points...

      1. Pierce34
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 8 months ago

We're not out to get you or to mock you - but realistically, 8 points from a TC is underwhelming. Not a fail, but not what I'd want from a TC. Last season aside, there were players getting more than 25 points in DGWs (Aguero and Sanchez in '16, Sanchez and Kane in '17), so I would say realistically there's a chance you can be about 15-20 points off. Not a disaster by any means, but not a TC success either.

        1. Tempestic
          • 8 Years
          7 years, 8 months ago

I agree, never said it was a success. I said before the game anything below double digits is disappointing, but I was just commenting that it really isn't as bad as people make out. If you get a 75 from a TC than fair play to you but I reckon that's pretty unlikely.

          1. AndyCook
            7 years, 8 months ago

Yeah the triple captain is overhyped. It’s really a 1.5 captain. Worst case you will lose maybe 17 points but it’s far from guaranteed and you could lose maybe 10 points on the wrong captain a lot of weeks from the players you have. The better players who are good triple captain options tend to average maybe 7 or 8 ppg against poor sides so you will probably end up out by 7 points or so

Yeah I'd agree with that - my 'realistic' TC success would be about 15-20 points (something like a goal per match, which isn't unlikely), but given the hauls in years past I'd still hope for 20+ of course.

          dude stop it? 😀

          Mane 3x2 = 6
          TAA = 11
          Robbo = 12.

          = 29 (3 players and captain)

Let's say you had Salah and TAA, but not Robbo.
          Salah 8x2 =16
          Taa =11

= 27 (from 2 players and captain, but the third player would make up for that, so stop making up silly arguments)

          NB: I got (S)alah, Robbo & TAA.

People saying TC Salah today is a fail - it's not a fail. It's not a success, but it isn't a fail. I think i tced Sterling for a pittance last year in the final DGW, would have taken 24 points over that. If you captain the most popular TC option in a DGW and they go crazy realistically you'll be maximum 20 points behind overall.

in a DGW you'd be looking at 4 appearance points straight away from Haz, Sterling, Kun, Salah... then 180 mins to get even 1 attacking return to better the 8 points....

        Welll...

Ah you're right lol. Although tbf in practice it often become 90 or less even. I guess I'm just arguing for the sake of arguing

TC a big player when there team are out of Europe/cups. They'll play both games. I'll be hoping for Kane/Salah/Auba/Hazard.

I had him but 8x3 its fail...

But dont think its big deal,in DGW like you said we will all have same C.
So it will be DGW player basic score minus 8 points.

I can see Fab making 9 saves which will cancel out the -3 when they inevitably concede 6

they are both crap choices this turn only if I am honest but you seen before fab got the most saves so will get save points

Many will make the switch from Salah to Sterling but only to have him benched after the international break by Pep again.

Liverpool "Captainable fixtures" comparison - Salah v Mane:

    (GW1 WHU, GW3 BHA, GW6 SOU, GW9 HUD, GW10 CAR, GW12 FUL)

    Mane: 15, 3, 3, 0, 15, 3 = 39
    Salah: 8, 8, 8, 8, 15, 8 = 55

32 points difference between the two on captaincy so far.... worth an extra 3.0? Strong evidence pointing towards yes at this stage

If you discount GW1 (Mane's ridiculous offside goal) the "captaincy gap" increases to a whopping 46 points

You get what you pay for with these two it appears

Nah can't discount goals, these things tend to even out over a season. Agree with you overall however.

I'm the biggest Salah over Mane proponent out there but not really fair to include Mane's 0 when he didn't play. You still have a VC...

Why are you trying to justify a 13m player with a constantly 8pts returnes all season long?

      1. Witty Pun: Not good at this…
        • 9 Years
        7 years, 8 months ago

8 points all season long is 304 points at the end of the season...

Any player who returns 8 points all season requires no justification at all, and would be worth more than 13.0m.

As it is, Salah is returning 6.25 points per game, delivering on his price quite nicely imo

I think cry, and lei were shouts too, with Sadio getting two tens and Mo getting a 9 and a 2, but overall it is damning. Also a lot of his best performance was right at the beginning of the season.

Everyone were saying my BB GW1 was a fail in 16/17, now every man and his dog started doing it. My TC was on par with what I wanted today. Worst case I lose about 10 points if the DGWers nail it....and I gain a lot more flexilbility in the DGW's because I can play more WC in a DGW for example.

Saying you gained more flexibility doesn't make any sense.

Surely you could just take a different approach around the DGWs without needing to waste your TC chip?

except i didn't waste it, and clearly have gained more flexibility with my wildcard by playing my BB and TC early.
