Fantasy Premier League managers have gone Manchester City mad ahead of Gameweek 14, especially with the captaincy.

Several of their options featured prominently in our latest captain poll as we work out which player should shoulder the responsibility of thr armband this weekend.

As per usual, we’ve analysed the results of the vote before delving deeper into the personal statistics of individual candidates and assessing their own teams and oppositions too…

Captain Poll

Another home match for Manchester City, another Gameweek where Sergio Aguero (£11.5m) is set to win the captain poll. The Argentinian striker, at time of writing, has 32.% of the vote ahead of an appealing home match against Bournemouth. Aguero is averaging 9.57 points per game at the Etihad Stadium this season and he is yet to miss a match too.

That’s more than can be said for team-mate Raheem Sterling (£11.4m). The England international was benched for big home wins in Gameweek 2 and 9, which is almost certainly why he remains below Aguero in the vote despite out-scoring him by 95 FPL points to 82 so far this season. Although he has more backing than ever before in 2018/19 with a 24% share of the vote.

Fulham’s visit to Chelsea has those still in possession of Eden Hazard (£11.1m) hopeful that he can deliver in Gameweek 14. He looks set to clinch a third-place finish in this week’s captain poll with 19% backing despite going five Gameweeks without scoring more than four points.

The fact that Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) is taking part in a derby match with Liverpool, as Everton come to Anfield, appears to have been left out of mainstream consideration accordingly. The Egyptian is currently vying with Leroy Sané (£9.3m) for fourth place, who is just behind his 4.8% share with 4.4%. That’s a reminder that the devastating form of Manchester City is another reason why Salah is not getting much of a look-in for Gameweek 14.

Matt Doherty (£4.9m) is the king of the differentials for this weekend. He’s got 1.82% backing ahead of Wolves’ trip to Cardiff City where his owners will be hoping for returns at both ends of the pitch.

Harry Kane‘s (£12.3m) scoring record against Arsenal, five in six matches, is not enough to convince large numbers of Fantasy managers to captain him this week. Just 1.6% have backed him so far, although we expect that figure to be higher for Gameweek 15 after a predicted high number of transfers in for a home match against Southampton.

David Silva (£8.7m) is the only other option over 1% in the current standings.

Have I got my 11 and bench in correct order? Struggling to decide this week...

    Ederson
    Dunk/AWB/Robertson
    Mane/Hazard/Richarlison/Martial/BSilva
    Aguero/Arnie

    Patricio/Jiminez/Chilwell/Balbuena

With city pressing higher lately they're more prone to counter attack (still least possibility) than pool

    this week and December

    A) B.Silva+Mooy/Paterson
    B) Richarlison+Schürrle/Fraser

    1. Ranger Mann
      • 8 Years
      7 years, 7 months ago

B.S - when fit, always starts which is hard to come by in Peps side who score goals for fun.
Hesitant on Mooy + Paterson, unless they're bolstering your bench.

Charlie is Silva's favourite, always got to favour an OoP Mid.

Schurrle may be spending less time goal hogging and even more time out on the wing more with DillyDingDillyDong in charge at the Cottage.

Fraser is on cloud 9 and fixture proof dare I say.

      **For me** (A)
      BS is worth every penny,
      Just reconsider your 2nd player

If you plan to wildcard anyway, compare your wc team to the team you are playing this week. If the wc team is better than this week's team then pull the trigger today.

Now that is true. But wildcards about looking longer term. If you tally everything up together and your wildcard looks better than your original team you should still pull the trigger. Kan, for example, could outscore Aguero. It may mean bringing in Sane and Sterling for example which could hugely boost the team.

I was going to all week, but with an early deadline and the fact he is still flagged, Agüero will be the most capped in the game in a week where captaincy could’ve been spread.

I’m playing the numbers and Agüero’s EO could blow us away, even if we pick the seemingly obvious Hazard (c) pick.

Been poor for several weeks, is an injury doubt and City mids smashing it. Fulham also benefitting from a new manager bounce so you never know.

I can’t disagree with the fact he hasn’t returned.

He has been very close to doing so each week.

Your point about Fulham I also agree with, Ranieri could be turning a corner, but they still conceded 2 to Southampton!

Yep and I get that but when removing a player that’s near enough nailed for a player that’s 50/50 on being rotated in the actual GW you bring them in for, seems like a mad rush without due care

Thing is almost every premium attacker will be rotated and City just score more goals than anyone so you’d expect their players to score more points.

Yeah agree with this, that’s why I’m now thinking next GW Kun > kane
          Salah > sterling

Effectively switching a good city asset to another and moving to an upcoming asset whose got great captain options where salah hasn’t and could very well be dropped for burley which I’ve been keeping him for

Was going to bring in Kane anyhow but using cash from elsewhere - seems silly now

Richarlison, Liverpool's defense is better and Fraser has the better stats.

      Doherty

Clean sheet odds are Palace 48%, Wolves 39%. Then Doherty has more attacking potential, so him for me.

I wouldn't bench Doherty. Bench Richarlison. I never believed in Martial pick so I would do Martial to Sane for sure.

    Front 6 GW15 could be

    Sane Sterling Anderson Richarlison
    Kane Aguero

Would need to do Salah —-> sane today

Triple city attack looks the way forward

Sorry for misunderstanding, i need to repost this becase i may not be clear 🙂

I have Richarlison and Fraser playing in my team, so would you bench one of them or both for Balbuena or Bennett ?
Fraser bench, Balbuena in maybe ? Thats what im thinking...Or to save as it is (Balbuena first on the bench, Bennett 2nd) ?

    1. MTPockets
      7 years, 7 months ago

Would bench Fraser. Not sure for which though - ideally Bennett but some talk about him getting rotated for Dendoncker:

As far as I know he's been training since Wednesday and that's all we're getting. Sarri won't be giving any conference so unless someone starts a rumour we'll hear nothing else

I'm happy with most of my team except for a few of the cheaper players. Which would you do?

    A. Murphy and Kane to Sterling and Jiemenez (2 FTs - Aguero for Kane in GW15), or
    B. Murphy to Patterson (1 FT)?

    Fabianski
    Doherty AWB Laporte Robertson
    Hazard Salah Silva Richarlison
    Aguero (C) Arnautovic

    hamer Duffy Masuaku Ings

2 FT and zero money itb, any suggestions on transfers ? Could use 1 transfer and save the other

Did Armstrong play on the left for Saints? Trying to work out if Haz will be targeting the same side of the Fulham backline

I wouldn't be making predictions about what Eden can do based on what happened in Southampton vs Fulham though.
If Hazard needs to take notes from Armstrong he's in bother

    Lloris (Button)

    Haz Mane Sane Rich (brooks)
    Kun Arnie (vokes)

1,2 itb for potential Kun to Kane next gw

    Kepa
    Alonso - Robertson - Laporte - Doherty
    Hazard - Mané - Martial - Richarlison
    Arnautovic - Aguero

    Hamer - AWB - Kamara - Stephens

    1 FT, 1.7 ITB

Good 2 go or do something like Mané -> Sterling or Martial -> Dilva?

    Patricio. Begovic.
Robertson. Alonso. Duffy. Wan Bissaka. Bednarek.
    Salah. Hazard. Richarlison. Pereyra. Fraser.
    Aguero. Wilson. Kamara.

1 FT and 1.1 in the bank. What do you guys recommend...? I am thinking to swap Pereyra for a midfielder. Chelsea is playing against Fulham. So anyone from Barkley or Willian is a right pick...? Or should I change something different...? Or save...?
