Christmas Day is finally upon us, giving us the opportunity to take a break from Fantasy Premier League, as hard as that is.

While you’ll probably be devouring roast dinner rather than FPL content on this special day, I’m sure the cogs in your mind will still be whirring over the next 24 hours.

You might open presents hoping not for a pair of socks but for a double-figure captain haul under the wrapping. Or perhaps instead of deciding whether to go for light or dark turkey meat, you’ll be more perplexed over whether you should start Wan-Bissaka or Ryan Fraser on Boxing Day.

It has been a season of transition at Fantasy Football Scout. The biggest change has been our esteemed leader Mark taking a step back from the forefront of things, and the introduction of a new team.

I want to extend my thanks to the Fantasy Football Scout community for making us feel so welcome in these new roles. Believe me when I say it was quite a daunting prospect when we first took them on, considering the monster-sized boots we had to fill!

The work of deputy editor Neale, community manager Geoff and Paul, as ever, plugging away behind the scenes, have been invaluable to helping us produce content we have been proud to deliver.

A great big thanks also goes to our team of mods for the endless and difficult job they do for us everyday.

That just leaves me to make a rare request for you to tear yourself away from the site for this one day of the year and spend some time with your family and friends.

We will have the team news round-up, scout picks and captain analysis coming out either later today or tomorrow morning so that when you log back into the world of Fantasy football on Boxing Day morning you will have everything at your finger-tips for Gameweek 19.

    A. Kane
    B. Salah

I would captain Mo if I had him, he looks to be the same Salah from last season now and Spurs will struggle to score against a parked bus again

Everyone said this last season in the same fixture and Kane blanked

Poch will also rotate the squad a bit, if Eriksen doesn’t play then it makes things harder for Kane even more

I’m not sure about losing Sterling tbh

You wouldn’t consider downgrading Auba to fund your move instead?

        nope, nothing in the bank.

Coming off an awful gameweek and lagging behind in my league and tempted to make some drastic transfers for this gameweek - thoughts?

In an attempt to take advantage of liverpools clean sheets, not being over-reliant on city assets and bringing in one in form player
    looking to swap:
    - Sterling for salah
    - snodgrass for gibbs-white
    - Rashford for wilson
    - Kamara for jiminez
    - Luiz for Van dijk

effectively taking an eighteen point hit *covers my eyes*

which would switch a starting line up from
    pickford,
    trent,luiz,digne,
    sterling, sane, hazarad richarlison,
    Jiminez, Kane, wilson

    to

    Pickford,
Trent, Van dijk, digne, wan bissaka,
    salah (c), hazard, sane, richarlison,
    Kane, Rashford

how about 12 point hit - 8 point hit, luiz, sterling and wilson for Van dijk, salah and quaner

with Van Dijk looking certain to get a clean sheet and salah lined up for another big haul with 5 days rest think this could be a rirsk worth taking espically with wilson playing spurs away and stelring likely to be rested soon

I have very similar team and I am playing him over Digne! Can’t see Everton keeping a cs while Cp are very solid defensively and showed it even against city - AWB will easily get 6pts and with a little bit luck maybe even 9 or 11/12 - what do you expect Digne to get. And why you have AWB if you are not going to play him @home vs Cardif then when?!

      1. jia you
        • 9 Years

Your question is a bit silly, I have him from the start as a 4.0 bench player. But tempted to play him as he had another stormer of a game v City!
Digne has a lot in his locker and looks capable of double digits in that game.

And they can be generous, but surely need to improve defensively. Wolves have a number of scoring options though. I'd still expect Bissaka v Cardiff to get more points than Jimenez who has only scored 5, all at home. Maybe drop Digne so as Fex suggests, think he can bring some attacking threat too though.

Who’s the safest United defender? I’m thinking of going Alonso/Fraser/Wilson to triple United

Pre-season we saw a lot of data from last season with the conclusion that premium forwards aren't worth it. Do we think after this season we will have the same conclusion?

It would be naive to say yes or no directly.
It depends upon spell of fixtures.
Kane looks great option for 3 of next 4.
In gw 21 salah, raz, sane, kun playing each other & Kane playing away Cardiff which sounds like hat trick 😛
Also Kun performance @ start of the season was phenomenal IMO. Was great C option with regular returns.

    Patricio (Foster)
    Alonso Robertson Digne (AWB, Bennett)
    Sane Richarlison Anderson Pereyra
    (Højbjerg)
    Kane Auba Wilson

    A) Wilson & Hojberg for Kamara and Martial - play 3-5-2, bench Digne and play AWB or bench Pereyra and play 4-4-2
    Or
    B) Wilson & Pereyra for Ings & Son - play 4-3-3, risk no Man Utd coverage and Pereyra fixtures improving

    Help!

Want to get a united player. I can either do
A - brooks to Herrera or
    B - richarlison to lingard.

Rich has great fixtures coming up (brooks next 10 weeks aren't great) though so I'm erring towards b. Any thoughts?

      N and o

Anderson has plum fixtures and is quality and I'm not buying the United hype just yet.

      Yes.
I did that move in the end. Personally it meant saving my other ft and I'm not fussed about him for Soton away now they arein form. Instead I will get in Arnie (or snoddy) for Burnley/Brighton.

      i have.
Combination of 2 good home fixtures, decent possibility of this new feelgood factor continuing & not a difficult move to correct if it doesn't pan out .
Figure Martial will at least match Anderson.

Why wouldn’t it work in the long term? As far as there is a long term in FPL!

WestHam has 2 away fixtures, and that is never easy, especially for an out of form Westham. Martial is the better player too, has 2 home games and Ole is all about attacking scoring goals. Saying this I still have Anderson and is considering the same move. Sure it could backfire, but basically every move
      can.
