The final match of Gameweek 36 sees Manchester United take on Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Kick-off is at 16:30 BST.

A win for Chelsea would take them four points clear of Arsenal in fifth place and all but eliminate Manchester United from the race for a Champions League qualification spot.

United would move level on points with the Blues with a win this afternoon, however.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made five changes to his Manchester United side from the midweek derby defeat.

Eric Bailly makes his first Premier League start in almost three months in central defence, with Chris Smalling the man to make way.

Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku rejoin the United attack, with Jesse Lingard dropping out.

Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera return in central midfield, with Fred, Andreas Pereira and Scott McTominay making way.

Smalling, Fred and Lingard are not even among the substitutes.

Gonzalo Higuain leads the line for Chelsea and will be flanked by Willian and Eden Hazard in the Blues’ attack.

Marcos Alonso, Antonio Rudiger and N’Golo Kante have all recovered from injury to start.

Willian, Alonso, Rudiger and Mateo Kovacic are the four changes that Maurizio Sarri has made from the 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Andreas Christensen, Emerson and the injured
Callum Hudson-Odoi drop out.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Young, Bailly, Lindelof, Shaw, Herrera, Pogba, Mata, Matic, Lukaku, Rashford.

Subs: Romero, Darmian, Rojo, McTominay, Pereira, Sanchez, Martial.

Chelsea XI: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso, Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Willian, Hazard, Higuain.

Subs: Caballero, Christensen, Zappacosta, Barkley, Loftus-Cheek, Pedro, Giroud.

Does anyone understand the connotations of Champions League places if and english team wins either the Champions League or Europa or indeed both?

Am i right in thinking there's no way 5th can get in but if Arsenal or Chelsea win the Europa and finish 5th we'll have five teams in it next year?

    1. Rainer
      • 9 Years
      7 years, 5 days ago

      Correct.

5 teams max from a country.

Only mess would be if Spurs win CL and finish outside top 4. And Arsenal/Chelsea win EL and also finish outside top 4.

In that case, 4th would be in the EL.

Ooh that would be interesting and pretty funny but lets face it there's no way Spurs are gonna win it.

        It’s the classic form v fixtures isn’t it ?

Rashford would be the sensible pick but very few have the flexibility for him over someone like Pogba

          Yeah.

Think Pogba beats say Eriksen in the last two though. Can’t see Eriksen starting at Bou.

Yeah Eriksen is one I’ve not really liked all year to be honest. But made sense for the last couple of weeks.

Might roll with Pogba and have no expectations.

That's one of my possibles yeah, Eriksen is definitely going, wish I didn't get him on WC really, never liked him as an FPL asset but the fixtures were great.

was set on captaining hazard next week but just had a look at chelsea's results after last 4 europa league games (Thursday nights):

      2 draws (1 home, 1 away)
      2 losses (1 home, 1 away)

most goals they scored was last match vs burnely (2): both hazard

not as great an option as I was hoping
