Fantasy Premier League managers are full of questions for Gameweek 2.

Are Liverpool’s defensive assets still worth owning? Is Harry Kane back to his devastating best? Can KDB really cover Sterling?

Thankfully, we’ve put together a panel of insightful Fantasy managers to answer these queries…

Who’s on the panel this week?

FPL Hints – One of the biggest names in the FPL community, a seasoned veteran as well as an FFScout writer and Official FPL panellist.

Holly Shand – Founder of Fantasy Football Community, two top 10k finishes in four seasons and regular FPL Show guest.

FPL Heisenberg – Influencer within the FPL community with a top 10k finish in 2016/17, followed by top 1k in 2017/18.

Torres Magic – Long-serving moderator at Fantasy Football Scout with plenty of FPL experience to draw on.

Captaincy issue. Burnley was solid and usually doesn't (when their defence is in form) concede too many chances inside the box. Auba on the other hand almost always scores inside the box. Auba is fast, but is Laca more likely to do well vs Burnley?

Bookies odds say Auba to score 3/4 and Salah 23/20. So do we believe Joe and David or bookies?

Tough isn't it. A bit like Salah or Sterling last week

      Neither are bad picks

And Sterling with 1/1 odds to score looks like better option than Salah also.

Salah is a superior pick imo. Southampton are a far worse team defensively.

Home field advantage only worth so much.

as Auba (C) here, hoping all big guns rested with Newcastle will cause havoc to give Auba chances.

Lacazette, Auba, Pepe, maybe Ozil, Xhaka long passes.

Auba could be worse fpl option even when he is a little more favorite to score based on midfielder points for clean sheet and extra for goal. However, I think Auba edges it this gw.

Yes, that difference is pretty easy to calculate, but expected baps are more difficult. And then there is assist potential also.

Ditching Brighton assets now with AVL up next is insane. You bought them, so at least hold them for this next week.

But in all likelihood, ditch them for Mun players after this week.

Looking forward to detailed answers when the Question Time article comes out from everybody, and then TM answers his question "See hot topics".

I think a couple of the Twitter links in the article look wrong (though I may be incorrect as I don't use Twatter).

Also, -1 for use of the phrase "influencer" - cringe.

Villa are favourites so if you are relying on Bournemouth it seems likely you are going to be disappointed.

how do you feel about Wilson -> Pukki?

I'm well aware it could backfire but Bournemouth were turd away last year and no Brooks seemingly made a difference the other day, I feel like I got sucked in to that fixture (combined with ownership and last season's PPM) without really considering SHU's defensive record last year; I did think about going without Bournemouth until GW5 and feel it was a mistake not doing so..

Wilson has just as much chance as Pukki of scoring in that game, maybe more chance. I’d hold.

I think Bournemouth will do OK. Harry Wilson can/should replace Brooks. Wilson to Pukki is a move I was looking at to allow Rashford + Kean into my team. I want to see them all play again though before I make a call... 2 GWs is just about enough to call it, ideally 3, but rises will no doubt price-out waiting

            7 years, 18 days ago

yeah that's the problem, think I'd be happy to keep 11m Jota Pukki for ages and next few transfers become easier if I get him at 6.5

              • 16 Years
              7 years, 18 days ago

I don't think Pukki will outscore Wilson for the season FWIW, however Jota + Pukki is probably better VFM.

      Drinkwater potentially.

For a long term squad, over the course of a season, are you better off having a first sub at 4.5 e.g. Dendoncker or slighlty higher quality first sub at 5.0 e.g. Kante?

Possibly, though depends on the players - not sure Kante is your 5.0 man - imagine he will be DM again his season. Donkey also looked ok, so may be slightly underpriced at 4.5 (though still don't expect too much).

If your 1st sub doesn't start often enough, it is no reason yo waste money on him. Resting the funds on bench 80% of the time is not ideal.

    4. Limbo
      • 16 Years

Depends on the formation but I usually have a 2-3pt per week low priced MF at no.3 in my subs. Never plays, cheap enabler (But one who starts week in week out in a decent team). Then I look for two playing bargains ahead of this. 4/4.5m defenders for example.

      1. CelticBhoy1
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 13 Years

Yeah I think Greenwood is going to be my 3rd sub this season as I'm 442. Considering the amount subs are actually utilised which is quite regular, I'm edging towards spending extra 0.5 on first sub for more consistent returns

        1. Limbo
          • 16 Years
          7 years, 18 days ago

First sub you want to be an attacking player - either a wing back or a MF/S who might feature. Greenwood is perfect 2nd spot. Montoya, for example, perfect in first (+ Dendonk / Lundstram / Kelly etc etc)

IMO Greenwood won't get a huge amount of minutes averaging 1 pt per game - but some may see different. He is really an enabler to allow me to play that formation

    Pope

Norwich... I like Aarons, although Lewis on the other flank had a little more joy vs Liverpool.

Sheffield United... Lundstram but there are question marks over his starting spot, so maybe not the best time to invest. I like Stevens but 5.0 is a bit too steep for me, so I'd take O'Connell.

Villa... the full back spots are a bit up in the air at the moment, so Mings for now.

5.5m fifth midfielder or 7m second striker?

I'd have Jota and Pukki easily above any 6m or below midfielder.

Don't do any transfers but I'd prob play Pope over Heaton for the higher ceiling since you prob want Wilson to score... but you have no Arsenal attackers.

      Can understand Heaton tho.

Did Fraser and king to Mc Ginn and Rashford.

I know from a points perspective, it is a bad move.

I know that points > pounds.

But on the other hand, that’s probably a swing of around 0.5 million in value this week, and I couldn’t afford Rashford if I waited another week.

Oooof. Fair play though acting on impulse. could deffo pay off but a risk going for a -4 on one week of evidence..... Not every team will leave that much space for United. Horrendously naive display from Chelsea.

Moura to Martial this week. Allows a straight swap next week rather than a downgrade to afford the extra 0.1.
