It is a short but important week coming up for Fantasy Premier League managers.

There are some big decisions to be made ahead of Gameweek 3 as some prepare to spend their two free transfers, others consider the Wildcard and that’s before we even get on to the captaincy.

So we’ve put together another panel of fine FPL minds to help you with any dilemmas.

Who’s on the panel this week?

Simon March – Former FPL champion who won the title in 2014/15 and has provided excellent advice ever since.

Always Cheating – The USA’s number one FPL podcast duo comprising of Josh and Brandon.

Gregor – Long-time Fantasy Football Scout moderator.

Doosra – Fantasy Football Scout user with some rather popular custom tables.

Wilson & Fraser to Kane & Trossard for a hit sounds good ? Team will be:
    Pope
    KWP TAA Digne Montoya
    Salah Sterling(c) Trossard McGinn
    Kane Pukki
    Button Lundstram Perez Greenwood

            100%.
Not going to lie though, Sterling v Bournemouth does worry me...

Maybe this week there will actually be a real discussion of whom to captain?
I am on Sterling but will probably bounce back and forth to Kane for the rest of the week...

Hmmm. Yeah. Will probably captain Kane but worried bcoz he disappointed me a couple of times last times by playing in CDM positions against teams defending deep.. also sterling’s record against Bou is incredible and Bou will not sit back at home

Got fed up with the Salah v Sterling last week, so I stuck it on Martial. 🙂
This week though, I was always going to stick it on Kane and I won’t let myself get dragged into a, “well Sterling does well against a Bournemouth”discussion, or the likes...

Need to lose that punk Perez, not taking a loss on him.

A Perez Digne ---》 KDB Dunk

B Robbo Perez --》 AWB KDB ( risk playing AMN vs pool when Digne fails )

Can't see Digne playing Friday even if it's even a slight hammy twinge ( week to 10 days usually )

I have Moura too. Tough decision. Can see Moura playing at weekend with Son starting on bench. What does Lucas need to do to nail a spot down. He's more effective than Kane at mo

If that does happen, then he’s obviously gone from my team.
I’d like to think Rodgers would persevere with him a bit though. He must of wanted him or he wouldn’t of signed him in the first place...

Yeah I got rid of him after watching his game. He was awful, he was out on the wing and was so deep on many occasions. Never got into the game. If starts there all season he'll never assist or score.

What are people's opinions on how many points you can take in a hit before you should just wildcard? A -12? -16?!

    1. XABI 15
      • 10 Years
      7 years, 4 days ago

-12 start considering a WC. If I am doing a -8 I generally have a 2-3 week view on the moves so i see them as "lesser" hits

Depends on where you stand in the league(s) you care about.
I am taking a -8 (goodgod) this week for the first time ever.
Only considered doing this b/c I have a solid lead over the pack in my ML and think the changes I am making will more than pay off over the next many weeks (barring injury).
I prefer to keep my WC until there is a compelling reason for wholesale changes due to injury, suspension, DGW, international play, etc.
      Cheers,

12 for me. I could've got by this GW with a -4, but would've been taking hits for the next 2-3 weeks to get rid of my deadweight, so just hit the button.

      I agree.
Defensively Newcastle as are bad as they come in the PL so far this season.
Last seasons rule of captaining whoever is playing Huddersfield, now applies to Newcastle.

      1. Dr. Mantis Toboggan
        • 10 Years

Admittedly haven't watched them yet, but what makes you say this? Stats-wise they don't look as bad as I would have expected defensively, and it's not like they had easy defensive fixtures.

        1. HamezMace
          • 12 Years
          7 years, 4 days ago

          Yeah it's from watching them
Newcastle shouldn't be conceding three goals to Norwich.

Pukkis second goal, he had more time in the box to get his shot away than he would have had in the Championship last season.
..and his third goal, honestly school boy defending, they looked completely out of position, not committed to putting their bodies on the line, and just basically not interested.

That's just an eye test review, I'm not that into stats based defensive numbers.

I'm hoping Newcastle will set up more like they did against Arsenal where they limited Arsenal to a couple of chances. I'd imagine Kraft is dropped after his poor debut and Longstaff comes back into midfield instead of Ki which hopefully means that there'll be more urgency.

Having said all that, I expect Spurs to win.

I mean even against Norwich they were deep, that's one of the reasons they struggled, they couldn't get out of their own half as they just lumped it forward to Joelinton, who had no support and was easily disposed.
If Spurs can score early, it'll be 4 or more.

True. One of Rafa's strengths was setting us up to avoid hidings by the big teams and sticking to the plan.

                  It was.
Despite the preconceptions that Bruce is a more defensive minded manager, he's really not the best at setting a team up to defend well.

Pope. Burnley has a great track record for clean sheets (usually about 10 per season), save points, and Pope will get bonus points because the defenders are so poor at passing.

Cheers! What do you think about going with adrian for the next three weeks or ryan for the couple "easy" games (not city) and then switching to pope as the fixtures turn?

        1. AuFeld

Adrian looks volatile. Ryan and BHA are going under the radar with the lowest xGA after two matches (granted their opposition looked deplorable). Could be a good pick.

I do not advise using FT on a GK. Pick one and stick to them unless an injury occurs.

          1. Jullepuu

Yeah I think the same. I just have a feeling that pool cleansheets are just around the corner but it probably isn't worth the usage of a free transfer that can't be avoided.

So Pope or Ryan it is. This is going to do my head in. Burnely has the history behind them but brighton has looked good aswell and you can get Button as the backup.

I think I might just look at my mini leagues and pick the one that is more threatning for my ranking.
