It has not been a memorable start to the season for Bournemouth midfielder Ryan Fraser (£7.3m).

After registering a total of seven goals and 14 assists in 2018/19, the Scottish international has now gone three matches of the new campaign without a single attacking return.

Not surprisingly, Fraser has already dropped £0.2m in price as Fantasy managers look elsewhere for value in midfield.

However, is there a possibility that they may come crawling back when Bournemouth’s fixtures become a little more favourable.

Gameweek 3 pitted the Cherries against defending champions Manchester City, while this weekend takes them to face Leicester City.

After those two tough matches, Gameweek 5 sees Eddie Howe’s men host Everton before they clash with Southampton (away) and West Ham (home).

We have assessed Fraser’s numbers from the first three matches of 2019/20 to see whether his owners should be patient or not.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for the new season can access it in full.

How has Fraser started the season?

Lessons learned from Gameweek 3

    Would you WC

    From:

    Ryan, McGovern
    TAA, Lundstram, Zouma, Shaw*, KWP*
    Martial*, Mount*, Salah, Sterling, Drinkwater*
    Greenwood, Pukki, Kane

    To:

    Pope, McGovern
    TAA, Lundstram, Zinchenko, Dunk, Digne
    KDB, Mount*, Salah, Sterling, Cantwell
    Wesley, Pukki, Barnes

Probably not. Team looks ok, especially if Mount and Martial are fit! Anything ITB? Kane >> Kun(C) would be nice. Perhaps it can be funded by a Martial downgrade if out

I would. I think even Zouma should be an asterisk - doesn't offer up top and Chelsea don't look solid at the back. On WC, I'd prefer Haller than Wesley.

If Martial and Mount do not play then it may turn into disapointment.

How much money will you have left if you do the WC?

My view, doing WC with Mount if he is out no good.

If the WC is the team you want then having only 0.1 left may not see you being able to the same WC in weeks from now. Things may also changed by then on your selections.

I did my WC, I have 0.0 in the bank but have the team I wanted from the start. If I had kept the team I had and want the same team after IB then I would possibly need to have more money in the bank compared to what I had with price rises and drops.

Would a front 3 of Haller Barnes Wesley be able to cover for the absence of Aguero or Kane?

    A) Martial > Mount (FT, 1.5itb)
    B) Martial, Jota > Mount, Barnes (-4, 1.3itb)
    C) Martial, Jota > Mount, Haller (-4, 0.5itb)
    D) Martial, Jota > Lanzini, Barnes (-4, 1.0itb)

    Heaton
    VVD, Digne, Zinch, AWB

        Hey Berbs
You think it's worth using the FT if it's just 1GW though?

Obviously Cantwell is a better pick than Dendo but just thinking 2FT is always a powerful weapon ...

And on the original question - what do you reckon if he is out 2 GWs +?

        1. Davido989
          • 16 Years
          7 years, 1 month ago

Yeah fair enough, Cantwell is gonna blank sooner or later anyway.

Anything more than 1 GW and I would definitely transfer him out.

You think Haller will do better than Barnes medium-long term? I just don't know how much I trust WHM!

The issue is I reckon we won't get a good enough answer on how long he is out for and everyone will be panicking...

        1. RAFA THE GAFFA
          • 10 Years

            • 9 Years
            7 years, 1 month ago

My main concerns with him are that WHM have a habit of the wheels coming off (see Arnie for ref!) and Haller hasn’t got enough data playing in the PL to fully convince me of his form going forward vs Barnes who we know can be great when he hits a good run of form

What is? Ditching Jota at all?

There’s only so long it is sensible to hold an asset based on past season/ preseason/ EL returns.

He is definitely not an emergency for me but if Martial is out and I am switching to Mount for example then that cash could be used to upgrade Jota to a player with better form (and potentially fixtures)

Yup. Those 3 standout. However, considering Cantwell is probably our 5th mid and I wouldn't want to Bench him every game going for Wesley and benching him once in a while for cantwell actually makes some sense lol. Also frees up 1.4 for a Zinchenko to laporte for eg at the back

    Couple of quick questions

    1) get Pukki (-4) @7m or wait after the city game?
    2) Thoughts on perez? keep or sell ahead of a good fixture. will def sell in gw5 if i keep him this gw. his value will be 6.3m before this gw
    3) Same as above regarding King...decent fixtures for bournmouth but dropping in value
    4) Contemplating Perez + King >> 5.8m mid + Pukki (-4)...worth it?

No City is suicidal. You need Sterling. Too much money in defence for me. Perez and Sigi are terrible options. Personally I would do Kane + Sigi > Augero + Mount for this week then wildcard next week to get Pukki, Raz, KDB.

    Current WC couple of dilemmas

    Pope
    Zinchenko TAA Digne Van Aanholt
    Mount Salah Sterling DeBruyne
    Pukki Haller

    Cantwell Lundstram Greenwood

    A as it stands

    B Zinc PVA ——> Laporte + 4.5

C Zinc PVA ——> Guilbert + 4.5 which would allow Greenwood to Barnes

    Any thoughts??

I couldn’t buy into the hype- Bournemouth a bottom half time posted same crazy numbers last season. Both Fraser and Callum Wilson were overpriced for the squads they occupy

I completely fell for the hype like an eejit. Got fraser, wilson, king was convinced with those two fixtures and Bournemouth's attacking nature. Thought it was a win win.
Even saved 2m in the bank to get sterling in for fraser AFTER gw2.

Should I WC this team now or wait til the international break? I realise there's a lot of deadwood in here, but would appreciate any opinions.

    Heaton (Pope)
    TAA Digne Walker Zouma (Lundstram)
    Sterling Mane Ceballos Perez (Dendoncker)
    Aguero(c) Jota (Greenwood)

Someone convince me that I'm wrong about Joel matip and he isn't as nailed as I think he is. One of those situations where I've managed to rationalise my way into thinking a player is worth it when they may not be. He has been fantastic last 2 games.. And since March infact. And just 5.4. Not expecting him to come close to the other Pool defenders for points but I'm convinced hell out score his 5.5 to 6 equivalent defenders. Someone convince me other wise 🙂

With lovren gone and gomez not looking that great in the CS and gw 1 it's kinda reinforced the Joel matip is nailed conclusion in my head. I'm actually worried he may still be in my team come Saturday afternoon lol

Might work. At 25 points/GBP (million) he would have to cover 135 points though. He hasn’t scored over 100 yet.

Sorry for the long post I appreciate anyone who takes time to read it I have a few changes I want to make, three options all for a -4 hit and long term (after IB especially) which one to pick?

    A) King & Rashford > Haller & Vardy (bank 0.2)
    B) King & Rashford > Laca & Kean (bank 0.2)
    C) King & Rashford > Aguero & Greenwood

    Squad as it stands:

    Foster
    Boly Coleman Kelly Robbo
    Moura Sterling (©) Salah
    King Pukki Rashford

    Subs:Button, Dendonker,Norwood & Monty

    1.4 ITB 1FT

    Using my WC GW 6-7.

None. You can’t get rid of Rashford for a -4. He might play up top if Martial is out and would he be on your agenda for a transfer out if he scores the pen against Palace? Just do King to Haller or save FT

True that like he wouldn't be but feel as though Martial out will effect his performance up top links up well with him not sure how he does without,I'm tempted to do King > Haller think Haller's next two games have good potential to score some points.

also, Abraham is one of those players who even if he scores this weekend il be worried if he starts 2 gws down the line. Looks like he ll be 1 or 2 bad games away from a benching for bats or giroud for some time so not sure I'd be able to deal with it. He may never get benched mind.. But that worry will be at the back of my head every week 😆

Personally I'd downgrade one keeper to a 4.0 and get Salah over Mane - probably keep Heaton to avoid a BUR double up with Pieters.

Or I might be tempted to put Pukki in for Barnes this week to get the better fixture - always the option to get Barnes for any 1 of your strikers the next week.

Would you wildcard this (main reason is Sterling and TAA)?

    Ryan -> Pope
    Wan-Bissaka -> TAA
Laporte -> Kelly (Lundstram and Kelly rotating)
    Sigy -> Sterling (C)
    Martial (possible injury?) -> McGinn
    Vardy -> Haller

0.1 ITB after this (Staying in my team: Button, Robo, Digne, Lundstram, Salah, KDB, Dendocker, Pukki, Greenwood)

Nope. If Martial is out for a long time, maybe reconsider. But that to me looks like you are trying to justify a WC because you are afraid of missing out on a Sterling (C) haul

Feeling quite happy sticking with this team not using wildcard and saving my transfer, Perez on last chance and potentially Jota too but feeling confident. 1ft 0.1 itb

    Pope
    TAA - Digne - Lund - Walker
    Salah - Sterling(c) - Perez - KDB
    Pukki - Jota

    Ryan, KWP, Drinkwater, Martinelli

Reckon I'm good to stick or would you make any changes?

So John Lundstram has played approximately 270 matches in his profession career in all leagues.... NEVER as a defender, he has always occupied the midfield. So tell me this; why has he been classified as a defender by FPL Towers? Genius
