Liverpool’s defence has been fairly disappointing this season – at least as a collective.

Having recorded an impressive 21 clean sheets in 2018/19 (the most in a single Premier League campaign in 11 years), the Reds’ backline was always going to struggle to match last season’s output.

So far there have been just two shut-outs: only Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur have registered fewer in the English top flight in 2019/20.

Even their second string have been getting in on the act, with Liverpool drawing 5-5 with Arsenal in a bonkers EFL Cup tie on Wednesday.

A favourable fixture swing awaits Jurgen Klopp’s side after the November international break, however, with the Reds playing Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion, Everton, Bournemouth and Watford before their blank Gameweek 18.

Fantasy managers might be tentatively considering a Liverpool defensive double-up during this period, then, but how do the Reds’ underlying statistics stack up? Have they been unlucky so far? And how are they comparing to last season’s numbers?

We attempt to address some of these questions in our Members’ article below.

Memberships for the 2019/20 campaign are still available for the equivalent of £2.50 a month, with a full list of benefits and details of how to subscribe available here.

    Wildcard team

    GK Henderson ( Button )
D TAA Alonso Mendy Lundstram ( Soyuncu )
M Sterling De Bruyne Salah Son ( Dendoncker )
    F Abraham Maupay ( Connoly )

    0.0 in the bank.

waste of WC, double Brighton is a joke up front, yes, they have nice fixtures from GW 16, but their best assets are Ryan and Trossard. I can understand Maupay but only if Connoly gets upgraded. Alonso and Mendy not the best options. And not a single Leicester player? Good luck

How can you say it's a waste of a WC without even seeing the original team

And why do you need to scoff incredulously at perfectly good differential choices like maupay Mendy and Alonso, whilst simultaneously making ludicrous, unfounded claims about trossard, a player who played precisely about 5 minutes, being Brighton's best option

I think he should disregard everything you said.

It's a decent team outside of template with some good differentials

      GK Henderson ( Pope )
D TAA Chilwell Lundstram ( Rico Kelly )
M Sterling De Bruyne Salah Tielemans ( Dendoncker )
      F Vardy Abraham Maupay

Is it more balanced? Are 3 Leicester guys much? Should I get Martial rather than Tielemans?

Until Son, Mendy and Alonso go and rack up cricket scores and he's left with his head in his hands

Is it really better. Is it really more balanced.

Or have you just made his team behind the curve, instead of in front of it

If I downgrade one GK it can be with Martial and possible bench or I can get Pope Gazzaniga, but I will have dead bench.

      GK Pope ( Button )
D TAA Chilwell Lundstram ( Rico Danso )
M Sterling De Bruyne Salah Martial ( Dendoncker )
      F Vardy Abraham Maupay

Ask yourself why you picked Maupay, Alonso, Son, Mendy etc.

FFS wants you to have a team just like them

What if those players hit 40 points this week and Leicester blank, or hit a sticky patch

Your original WC was totally acceptable, just outside of FFS groupthink

I agree with TM, dont go changing it to follow the herd...go with your gut.
I'm going Siggy over Martial as my Mahrez replacement and Bench Boosting this game-week as I fancy him to do well over his next few fixtures. Just an example of going with my gut rather than following the herd on here.

Not many people opting for a double up of Salah and Mane over the coming few weeks.....

Aside from cash restraints that one might have, why not have both?

Hard to look past the cost but I’ll give you a second reason: captaincy. Salah used to be a perma armband kind of FPL asset, which you kind of expect from 12,4m. Not any more.

The cash restraints that one might have

And my TV is at 104.9, but I still won't. Gonna have to lose one of Sterling and KDB, when I could easily go with TAA + Robbo instead. Rest of my team is a version of the template

For those who might refer to City's difficult run of fixtures, Salah and Mane just came out of a difficult run of fixtures... And are in the dream team. It's just how Liverpool and City work. So I'm keeping Sterling and KDB through the tough run (Liverpool, Man U, Leicester, Wolves, nobody else) of fixtures

I have been using a midfield quartet of Sterling, KDB, Mane and Salah for a while now and so far its working pretty well for me.

Update your team link for the new season. I guess you didn't notice that, so I understand 🙂

Wanted to confirm you're going without TAA, which works. Do you have Vardy?

My defense is cheap but still picks up points, and my bench is non-existent but so far I always have a playing 11.

            Pope (Button)
            Rico Kelly Soyuncu Lundstram Tomori
            Salah Mane KDB Sterling (Elneny)
            Vardy Abraham (Greenwood)

I debated all week to swap Salah for Son, and upgrade the 5th midfield or third striker, but so far have resisted.

I see we both believe in the template

Or, rather, ended up on the template because we picked/dropped players based on form and fixtures... Which is what the FFS comments template really is anyway

I’d say we are more ahead of the curve. Seeing how we’ve managed to accumulate 104m TV. As we’re getting players in before they haul. Like Vardy, then price rises comes along

Rather than chasing last weeks points.

What’s your next move? I’m going to be burning a transfer myself.

I've already made it. Decided not to be patient with CHO as that's how Mahrez traps form. One move I'd planned for ages, and one reactionary move I was going to be priced out on. Soy to Robbo, CHO to Perez. I'm willing to accept a CHO hat trick, but the reason I got him was utterly destroyed by Pulisic in one game, so I won't let hope tie me down. Now have two Leicester, Chelsea and City attackers

                Solid moves
Two of each for me also.
I do have Soy, but thinking of moving him on to Lascelles in the next couple weeks.
I’m personally thinking of just doing sideway move of Mane to Salah pretty soon.

In the past two seasons, Salah to Mane had felt like a points downgrade for the sake of funds

Now it feels like we're just tossing coins, as I can't clearly state who'll have the most points over any given period. When it feels this way, I take the cheaper guy. Mane has to fall off a cliff in stats (his stats, not in comparison to Salah's) and form for me to drop him

True. I’m keeping and eye on salah and Mane this weekend. And decide then. But in the meantime, burning a FT
Your team is solid by the way. I’ve tried to get Robbo and Pérez in. No chance, about 0.6 too expensive.
                    Good luck!

I've saved 2 FT for this week so this would only be for a hit.

I can just about do it if I switch salah to mane and lose Tammy for ings

    Is it worth it?

        Tammy is becoming frustrating

Ings has potential with good fixtures after the intl break

    Tomori. Soyuncu. Lundstram
    Salah. KDB. Sterling. Mount
    Haller. Wilson. Abraham

    Button. Cantwell. Montoya. Maitland

    2 FT, 0 ITB

    A) Haller, Wilson > Vardy + Jota (or another sub 6.1 striker)?
    B) Maitland > Rico and get vardy next week

Kane ane Robertson in for Auba and Digne for a hit? Plan on capping Kane next week and don't completely mind the Everton game. Typically high scoring

    Think further..
IF you dont have Sterling right now, would you bring him in with a hit?
Is he is an essential for this week versus Southampton?

Now i still cant decide. Whether should i bring him in or not.
After this GW, City facing a hard fixture while Liverpool faces easier one here.

I have KDB, but should i strengthen myself with Sterling?

    Pope
    TAA Soyuncu Lundstram
    Mount Mane Kdb CHO
    Vardy Abra Kun
Button Rico Dendo Boly* 0.8itb 1ft
    Confused. Best advice?
    A. Hold and hope. 2-3 moves next week.
    B. Kun/CHO to Connolly/Sterling
    C. Kun/CHO to spread funds.... Silva/Rashford or Firmino/Martial
    D. Boly to any def up to 5.8 (maybe Cancelo?)
    E. CHO to Tielemans

    From GW13 onwards,
A - Liverpool DEF (cry, BHA, EVE, bou, WAT)
B - Leicester MID (bha, EVE, WAT, avl, NOR)

I assume Robbo vs Tielemans. I'm torn - A has the Royal status but B has the form and fixs.

Exactly. It would be an easier decision if Liverpool looked like keeping clean sheets

Tielemans + Pereira + Vardy wound be a nice trio to have for those fixtures
