FFS Cup

2019/20 FFS Cups are now open for entry

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce the dates of our Fantasy Premier League cup competitions for the 2019/20 campaign.

We are launching our latest open-to-all tournament, along with a tenth competition for Members only. Both tournaments have £300 in prizes on offer.

Sign-up for the open tournament can be found here.

Members can sign up to both tournaments, via entry forms here and here.

The roll call of former cup winners looks like this: donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC, Mark, Leon Harris, A Manager Has No Name, Sleepysi, TH14, 2EyedTurk, Man-Chest-Heir and reigning champion LOKOMOTIV.

As former winners, those listed will gain a bye to the first round of the tournament should they enter with the same username.

In our Members Cup, our list of winners is as follows: Waltzingmatildas, Fuzzy Dunlop, Kippax Kickers Acquafresca, Trigg Ola Svanheld, Malaikat Jahad, rrcmc and the current champion Jay #.

Again, those listed above will gain a bye to the first round proper of the Members Cup should they enter with the username listed.

If you’re new to our cup competitions, read on for an FAQ, offering all the details.

How do the Cup Competitions Work?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own Fantasy Cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

When do they start?

The qualifying round for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup will take place in Gameweek 13, with the first round proper running in Gameweek 14.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 10:30am on Monday November 25, when we’ll stop entries and make the first round draws shortly after.

The qualifying round for the Members Cup will take place week later in Gameweek 14, with the first round running in Gameweek 16.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 10.30am on Monday December 2, when we’ll stop entries and make the first round draws shortly after.

Previous winners must enter with the same usernames listed above to gain their bye.

Entrants must have registered their teams in Fantasy Premier League ahead of Gameweek 1.

How do I enter?

Enter the open-to-all FFS Cup via the entry form here.

Enter the FFS Members Cup via the entry form here. This form is only visible to Members and you will need to log into the Members’ area to view the form.

You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team ID at the point of entry – you may need to remove an erroneous ‘a’ from the link before clicking to verify your team ID. If your FPL team is incorrectly entered, we cannot amend this at a later date.

Your entry is only completed once you have confirmed your FPL team ID as part of the process.

To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of entries.

The open-to-all FFS Cup list is here.

The Members FFS Cup list is here.

How do I find my FPL team ID?

Your FPL ID is your unique ID for your FPL team. This is found via your Gameweek History page – the link to which is found in the right-hand menu under your FPL team strip. When you visit your Gameweek History you will see a number in the URL (as opposed to the XXX below).

https://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/XXX/history

Place this 1-7 digit number, or your Gameweek History URL, in the FPL ID field on the entry form.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round will be published shortly after November 25 and then weekly, after the completion of each Gameweek, from that point on.

Results from the Members Cup qualifying round will be published shortly after December 2 and then weekly, after the completion of each Gameweek, from that point on.

Do I have to enter if I’m a previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed so we will need to record your entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a Fantasy Football Scout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament.

Ideally, you will already have a username with us, but this is not essential to enter.

You must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles.

You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament. Should you do so without permission, should you enter multiple teams, or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament at any stage.

Anyone having a good season? Or a particularly bad one?
This is my 13th season and am currently ranked 2.5m. It’s not a temporary thing either. I’ve been down here for most of the season.

Thought I was having a flyer to begin with. But then I missed out on Vardy and have hovered round the top 100k-50k ever since GW6 it’s been very boring and I have no idea what to do to break through the barrier. Have Vardy now at least but this is the week Auba finally stops playing full back to spite me

Seems like you’re doing alright. Just don’t get too bored. That ruined one of my seasons.
I held on to Auba last week, knowing he’d blank, just to have him for the next 3.

Just don’t get bored with the success as I once did. Broke in to top 100 and then took out Sterling for a hit and he grabbed a brace. Back in the Liverpool days.

I pulled back from 1m to 280k with 218pts in the last 3, so slowly picking up some momentum

Rupert your link didn’t work for me.

You’ll work your way back up, just sometimes that’s the way it falls. You prob aren’t doing anything drastically different to seasons past?

And it’s all pretty tight this season so one good gameweek and you’ll fly up

96k isn't worth complaining about. Some people are millions of places away from their final rank of last season.

Good year so far inside 10k - after a poor one last season (400k). Been playing since 2007/08. Ups and downs - usually depends on how busy I am - personal/work life can get in the way of a good season 🙂

Not bad at all for my team. Started very good, after the last gameweek I even entered the top 5K. It is too soon to talk about it, but a top 10K would be very nice, anything more is a bonus.

Problem is I’ve actually been sliding further back each week which is the worrying thing. Did alright this week. Moves really paid off. Without them I’d be closer to 4m

The lundstram brace tripled my rank from around 70k. Back into the top 130k now after captain vardy.

Got the ol' wildcard tucked away still and hoping to claim a Christmas edge with it.

I have had a very slow start compared to my normal performances each year, however i'm slowly climbing again. I've risen to 700k's, was 1.2m last week. I've been making more rationale decisions the last month. I played my WC way too early (GW 3), so everything after that was a fixing job. Now I've stabilised again

However I would like to add that it's been near on impossible to get a clean sheet from a defender this year. Gone are the last 2-3 seasons where you'd invest heavily in defence. I miss the West Brom season with McAuley

What’s legend that man was. Had him for all his goals.
It’s really quite bizarre to be looking at Liverpool and read that they have 2 clean sheets this season.

Doubling up on the West Brom def's that season was very rewarding
Having TAA for £7m all season has really yet to reap the rewards, gotta stick with for now though I suppose

Hi mate, its been a weird season.....started really badly but since GW5 I have had good weeks and now 190k, but interestingly have had 2.5m (ish) always in the bank since GW5…….im guessing that not having premiums has worked out but not by design other than the "eye test" …………...

been on a shocking run but managed to get just ahead of the curve with Jiminez and Martial to claw back a chunk of rank. 2.3m to 700k in last 2 weeks (inc 1m rank this week).

Not worried about rank atm just pt gaps to higher ranks. want to keep run of top 1% going for a 9th consecutive season.
      So about 70pts behind that.

Long way to go. For those struggling maybe a good time for Jonty to remind folks how successful some of his "1.5m"? league players did 2/3 seasons ago.

Got the worst ever WC GW9 I had since playing this game 8-9 years ago. Don't know how managed to claim 228(-4) since WC10 and now sit at around 70K ... very tight total points distribution this season I feel.

Reckon my plan going without City assets is on the up.

GW9 I was at 1.3m and now at 297k with not one City asset.

Team structure is going to be key now to keep on climbing.

I am having a good season so far, currenly ranked 3294.

Up until now I have had a stellar midfield of Salah / Mane / KDB / Sterling, but last week shipped Sterling out and got Maddison and Pulisic in to good effect.

This season I try to roll a FT over so I have two the following week, rather than making knee-jerk transfers as soon as the next GW starts, unless there are injuries etc.

Yeah I’ve rolled quite a few and even wasted one transfer entirely. Took -4 last week to do 3 transfers.

              1 month, 7 hours ago

Yeah, going to roll with it. City assets are stagnating.

Sure it could just be a blip but the value elsewhere is too difficult to ignore right now.

Yeah exactly. When you’ve got 7m players matching 12m players it should make it easier. It’s just spotting the ascension and decension in time.

At 25k at present, did hit 9k OR after a crazy GW6 rank of 9k which saw me go from 499k to 30k in one go.

Yet to play wildcard, last year I didn't use it till Xmas either, and yet to take any hits or use chips.

I think a lot of my success has been down to not going Salah/Sterling which I posted was too much money in two players. I've been on Salah/KdB and used the saving wisely. My only real let down was Kane who has since moved on for Vardy.

To be honest I've found this season quite easy to navigate, unlike in Sky where I am at 50k miles behind. Normally do well in that with three top 1k finshes best of 352nd. Strange isn't it?!

Yeah I'm the same. Doing well in FPL & TFF but languishing at 20k & 24k in Sky with essentially the same players across the 3 games. Very odd.

My season was getting worse and worse, slipping to the over the 3M mark in GW9
Then I put the Vardy party hat on - 3 green arrows later I am up to 1.3M
Not great but it feels a lot better ... onward to the top million!

I was down to 3 million after GW9, the lowest position I've ever been in (I'm in my 11th season).
But then I brought in Vardy and Dilva for a hit in GW10, and then Jimenez and Maddison for another hit in GW12, and after 3 big green arrows I am now on the brink of breaking back into the top million.
It's usually possible to make some sort of recovery after a poor start.
There are plenty of game-weeks still to go, and there are also a few cups to look forward to.

185k which is not the worst but I know I can do better just need to avoid stupid moves. For example, I bring Gazzaniga last week for free and bench Ryan and I still don't know why I did this to myself 🙂

          Overall a good season.

Starting with Sterling, KdB, Lundstram, Rico and TAA set a spine to the team that was very strong.

But I have missed a couple of split decisions - picking Aubameyang over Vardy when getting rid of Salah GW 9 (despite seriously considering him) and also missing the train on Mount (picked Martial GW 3 over him).

A couple of these decisions going my way, and I'd be in top10K. I was 8K at one point.

I too went Auba over Vardy but to be honest, I don’t really know what I’ve done wrong. Feels like I’ve had the right players going in to each game week only fail. Not catastrophically, but enough to slowly chip away.

Your average points for forwards is terrible - 3.77

          OR 12k.

Probably been my best season in a few years, but I’ve really not enjoyed it this year.

I seem to have picked a fairly strong team to begin with and then used my wildcard much earlier than usual (I can’t even recall why I used it), and it seems that core team I’ve gone with seems to be one most desire.

It means I’m not making many transfers this season, but I’m watching my Team Value rocket as everyone acquires my players. I don’t think I’ve ever been over 105m TV at this early stage of the season before, not have I been on such a good rank with a real chance of getting into top 10k.

Maybe by luck or simply by opportunity cost I’ve managed to avoid Auba and Kane who may have had a good run of fixtures and I’d usually have bought.

Interesting little read this. Thanks for the input. I’ve paid no attention to transfer movement this season and my TV is sub 101. I’ve also been a couple of steps behind each player finding form, until this week of course.

In my 5th season, and this is the first time I've been below 1m consistently at the start of the campaign. I've not had the best captaincy outcomes, but played Lord Lund for all his hauls have been a bit lucky to get away with never having owned Robbo or Mane, Sterling or Kun. Now my only dilemma is to choose between Auba and Mane as my premium attacker.

First year focusing properly. OR is 92k. Started well, dipped (missing mount and kdb bandwagons) and then took out aguero/ wickham to vardy/ Jimi to recover ahead of them going on their current rampage...
I started the season with a 5-4-1 with greenwood/ wickham bench so took some time to unwind... won’t make that mistake again.

Hi mate. I empathise as I'm also ranked 1.1m and it's hurting my eyes. I refused to jump on Vardy even though it was such an easy switch from Auba. I'm hoping Auba takes advantage of the next 4 games to soften the blow but hoping Vardy doesn't score in the next 5 is just plain daft. Stubbornness is a terrible trait in this game isn't it 😀

I've even contemplated losing Salah and bringing Vardy up top with C Wilson and Auba.

Very few have kept faith in Salah in our main ML and look at him as the main man who can boost me up the league.

            Decisions decisions.

Though I must admit, I've taken a different approach this season and not allowed bad weeks to impact me the same. Whilst I'm still 100% committed to my team, I've accepted bad weeks and decisions much easier.

That’s funny. This is the first yet I’ve taken the attitude, I guess the FPL gods are not happy with me.
I’ve owned Wilson twice this season and he just doesn’t want to score for me.
Hoping Auba rewards my patience in the next 3-4

Gotta know when to cut your losses. I ditched Auba this past week for Vardy and captained Vardy. That's an enormous swing and net me 0.2m in team value on Vardy as well.

On current form, it's the right play, but I did have those nagging thoughts that told me to hang onto Auba since he has Southampton and Norwich at home. On current form though, it was a no-brainer and I forced myself to push the button so I didn't have second thoughts.

It’s been awful so far, ranked around 800k. Not sure exactly where it’s gone wrong as don’t feel I’ve made many obvious mistakes but captaining aguero for his benchings didn’t help and could’ve been more aggressive with transfers (saved a transfer and kept Pukki for one more week when I had cash to get Vardy ahead of Southampton game)

Still a long way to go so targeting top 10k but might be a bit ambitious

It's my 13th season too oh Horsey one. Until two weeks ago I was also languishing, although not quite as bad as yourself, at 1.2 mill. I was always happy with my team though, it just wasn't getting the points. It felt as though FPL had broken! The last two weeks have been rather splendid though and I now sit 99k and the world seems a better place. Keep plugging away, don't do anything drastic and the FPL world will right itself for you, I'm sure.

My season is on the up was 2.9 mill 3 weeks ago, now 1.3 mill.

My going big at the back at the start of the season, was a bad mistake, also due to going big at the back mean't Lundy sat on my bench, for all his hauls. Benched both Pukki and Cantwell v city. Benched Soyuncu for his goal and clean sheet the other week. I've had the right players just bad benching order, plus an uncanny nack of dodging captain hauls.

But have made some good calls lately bringing in Vardy, Martial

Pretty poor start from me. I finally triggered the WC for this break in the action to try and play catch up as I had no Mane, no Leicester players, no Lundstram, no Tammy, no Tomori
I can tell you that yes I think I hung on to seven straight weeks of a blanking Alex fecking Iwobi
            Anyway onwards and upwards
My studies and work are definitely getting in the way this season and I’ve prioritized fantasy Bundesliga for a change (it’s a little exhilarating!) and I like putting a little effort there.
OR at an abysmal 1.432m but I don’t know if I have the knack for transfers as I maybe used to — that OR could keep sinking

I'm delighted with this season so far. It's my 3rd full season playing the game and I finished just outside the top 100k in my previous two. I'm currently 9k which is the highest I've ever been. I put it down to a GW3 wildcard where I removed Sterling & Salah for Mane & KdB. I've had Vardy for all but two weeks and jumped on Chelsea & Leicester triple-ups very early doors. Just hope I can push on now, it goes without saying that I'd love the season to finish tomorrow!

I had a great start of the season and found myself around 16 k in gameweek 3. Had great expectations. Had Vardy from the start but sold him in gameweek 3 due to the slow start of Leicester. Kept faith in my big players Salah, Sterling, KdB and captained them. Felt good about this, because I was also the only one in my minileague who had Salah and Sterling together. It did not pay out. From gameweek 3 untill gameweek 12 all picks were a captain fail. Now I'm finding myself back at around 511 k. I lost the lead in my mini-league and am trailing 40 points on 3 guys. Their teams seem better with the likes of Pulisic, Madisson, Martial and Vardy already in it. A few wrong choices with C. Wilson and CHO did me no good. Now I have bought Vardy back. All defenses (TAA and/or Robbertson, Lundstrum, Rico and Soyuncu or Tomori) and forwards (Vardy, Abraham) in the top 4 in my mini-league are all almost the same. Looks like I lost (for now) on the midfield and captain choices).

Last year I finished 101 in the world
That was a huge achievement for me and I came No.1 in my country (UAE)
This year, I was 1.5 million in GW5.
I thought it was gonna be one of those seasons...
But after GW5, I went on a good streak and now I'm ranked 28,047 in the world 🙂

OR 544. Probably my highest ever position, certainly in recent memory.

Did everything the same as usual. Difference this year was that virtually all the players who got huge scores in the first couple of game weeks then had terrible runs (Pukki, Cantwell, Barnes, Haller, Sterling) and I avoided these players. In previous seasons I've done the same with 5.5m Kane, Varhez etc and steadily got further behind.

Feel the luckiest part has been Sterling fails in easy home fixtures, games where I'd obviously have had him if I'd been on a wild card.

Unluckiest part has been the Trent/Robbo double up. Having watched most games feel they are probably underperforming extected point by about 25 each.

Biggest error has been refusing to consider starting 4 at the back last few gameweeks. Wouldn't necessarily have gone that way but definitely not enough thought put into it.

But considering the form of mid price mids, why would you go 4 at the back? So few clean sheets this season.

If you'd asked me if I'd take a 56k rank by this stage of the season at the start, I would have said yes without a doubt.

But since I was sitting at 12k two weeks ago, it feels slightly bittersweet.

I don't think I've been playing that well either.

I got lucky with a Bilva hat-trick, KDB vice captaincy points and getting on Vardy early.

            Captaincy has been good though.

Averaging 14.3 per GW only putting the armband on Salah and Sterling

Blame 1mn of it on Auba pick. Crazy to pay more than 10mn on a player from top 6 side. Plus wastage of so much funds on him has weakend rest of your side. still early days but you wont get into even top 100k if you accept Premium mids instead of forwards is the better fpl way...has always been too

Pretty terribly. This is my eleventh season with 4 top 10K, 2 top 1k finishes.

Last year I had a meh season with a 15k finish but more importantly I lost my most important mini league to a couple of rivals who were aggressive with hits.

For this season, I decided to try something new and convinced myself hits in early GWs are good, cos they have longer time to pay off, helps build value etc etc.

That combined with something Ive never been good at - captain picks means, I am yet to get into top 1 Million this year. Its been 12 weeks and I havent managed to breach top 1M even once.

            Thats a pretty disastrous season.

The goal still remains Top10K finish and I am still hopeful that, it isnt completely out of reach yet.

Average so far hovering at 80k been very up and down so far, hard to get a good base with so few points from 1m to 10k. Finished around 8k last season and 3.6k is my best ever so really hoping I can break the 5k barrier again this season!

Having my best season yet. I think. I had password issues some years back so simply started a new run with a work email address. But I know what it's like being down the ladder, with every transfer falling flat, every move being the wrong one.

Same for a lot of us mate, 10th season for me & generally finish in the top 100k.....this time round, was at 171k in GW3, tumbled to 1.2m in GW10 and now back up to 528k thanks to jumping on VAJ up top a bit earlier than the majority. Besi wishes in climbing back up to the top 100k Rupert.

Particularly bad season since I started taking the game seriously about 4 years ago. Currently at 2.3 million. Been hanging around there the whole time. Mostly due to being late on all the players in form (Leicester boys, Lundstram, etc) and captaincy misses. Finished 70k last season.

Was sitting around 2m until 5 weeks ago. Played my WC, brought in Vardy, Abraham etc. Took a risk and went with no Liverpool (until this last game week). Went from 2m to now just outside 100k. Happy with my team and have transfers planned. Enjoying the season, frustrated once again by daily price rises and falls. How can you make a transfer on a Sunday, when most fpl assets have mid week fixtures.

with an OR at 2.5m after GW7 I am very happy to be 300K now after GW12.

Just did a mine WC after GW12 started to be able to do Kane, Otamendi & Lascelles -> Jiménez, Arnold & Robertson (-4).

Jiménez & Robertson flagged, but hope it'll be nothing.
Think my team is almost as strong as the WC'ers this GW, so I am confident going forward with this team for next GW:

            Pope
            Arnold - Robertson - Lundstram - Söyüncü
            Mané - (K)DB - Maddison
            Vardy - Abraham - Jiménez

Rich to become Pulisic after he plays Norwich.
Bench can cover Sterling all the way through to Xmas if banned.

          Mane, KDB*, mount*, Maddison, Cantwell
          Vardy, Jimenez, Tammy

          1FT 2.5 ITB

          A) Diop to Robertson
          B) KDB to Salah
          C) Mount to Pulisic

I feel I have enough essentially owned players that I can risk a little. A is my preference, I don’t think many will go double Liverpool defence. What’s are people’s thoughts?

We have almost the same team, I’ve just done Rico to Robertson and am planning Sterling to Salah GW14. If you’re going to captain Salah, I would say that’s a bigger priority - maybe wait for GW14 to make your moves

Your team must be awesome! I think Robertson at CP is a little more urgent as a high chance (probably just jinxed it) of a CS. Whereas less chance of a Salah haul.

Haha, thank you for the compliment, ranking isn’t great but I’ve gone from ~1m to 200k in last 3 GW.

Salah(c) in GW14 seems to be the biggest sword one can get (subject to injury)

It’s an ongoing issue to depends whether a 2 week break is enough to solve it. Possible they give him another week but I have no idea what the prognosis would be for that kind of issue?

Yeah it was good. I like that he's unafraid to pick left field stuff.

Henderson to start the season and Walcott now. Calculated risks. I think the best FPL players all have this maverick streak about them while keeping up consistently with the must-have players.

Would you drop Sterling to get Vardy?

                Pope
                VVD TAA Soyuncu Tomori
                Salah Sterling Mount KDB
                Abraham Jimenez

                Lundstram Greenwood Dendoncker

Considering Greenwood & Sterling for McGinn & Vardy.

McGinn has great fixtures when Soyuncu and Tomori have tough defensive games so would rotate.

                Vardy Abraham Greenwood

As it's the IB i'll ask for some advice. Important to note i have my wildcard in tact, with 0.5 ITB. I was planning on using the wildcard before GW14 to catch the Sheffield united, leicester, chelsea fixtures, but i'm not so sure anymore, a -4 could work? I was thinking

Chilwell, Sterling, Greenwood > Robertson, Maddison/Martial, and Jiminez for a -4.

Any suggestions? The wildcard could sort out Pope, Montoya, Cantwell, Greenwood. Than you .

That 4th mid needs to be a decent option so I would get a 4.0ish defender and spend 6.5 in that area. One of the Leicester chaps below could be a good option but a bit risky as they get subbed a lot

                    Thus - 3.9 Reid + up to 6.6

Best one will be Tielemans but if you don’t want to triple up on Lei also consider James or if you feel punty - James ward proud - nice run of fixtures

Good point I hadn't realised the lack of minutes recently. That'll be the hangover. Cheers!

FFS Cup is open for another season!

As promised to Deulofail last year (https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/19958920), I'll be putting up a fair few reminders for this cup as HTs to make sure that everyone who wants to enter is able to. It's always a massively popular competition and I'd strongly recommend getting your entries sorted now rather than risk forgetting! 😉

Entries close 10.30am on Monday December 2nd, full details on the cup are in article above.

Best of luck to the reigning member's champion Jay # and a grudging good luck to the open-to-all champion LOKOMOTIV as well after he beat me in last years final!

I'll do so when this hangover eases. Cheers.

I think I forgot to click on the link to confirm my team.

But my name is in the list of entries.

Have I messed up somewhere or am I good? Can any of the mods confirm?

                    Looks all good to me.

If for whatever reason there is a problem with it down the line, email me at ted@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk and I'll fix it. Sure it's fine though.

The link that it generates with your ID includes the /a/ which was the link format of last year. So it's not loading up my team.

Yup I'm having the same problem.

Should I confirm team or wait for it to be set right?

Check the id on the link and confirm it if correct - the fact that it's formatted wrong won't impact your registration, just something our end that we need to fix

I did Sterling to Mane. GTG? Any hits need to be made? and is any changes to the starting 11? (0FT, 1.7ITB)

                        TAA / Lascelles/ Lundstram/ Digne (Rico)
                        KDB/ Mane/ Maddison (Mount, Dendocker)
