Quiz

Take our Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 quiz

Our season-by-season Fantasy Premier League quiz is back with 20 questions on one of the most memorable years in Premier League history.

The 2015/16 campaign witnessed a chip overhaul in Fantasy Premier League, Jurgen Klopp take up the reigns at Liverpool, Jose Mourinho depart Chelsea for the second time, the Battle of the Bridge and the end of Aston Villa’s 24-year stay in the division.

Most unforgettable of all, however, was Leicester City’s astonishing capture of their first-ever top-flight title.

There’ll be plenty of brain-teasers on the Foxes, then, along with the usual mix of multi-choice questions on Fantasy returns and underlying numbers.

Click ‘next’ below to start the quiz and to cycle through the questions, and let us know how you got on in the comments section.

We’ll return next week with the 2014/15 season.

    vFPL

    McCarthy (Button)
    TAA, Alonso, Targett (Kiko, Hanley)
    Mane, KDB, Fernandes, Martial (Barnes)
    Jota, Wood, Pukki

2FT, 0.4 ITB. Any ideas here guys?

Find a way to get double City perhaps?

Yeah, was thinking Martial > Mahrez maybe?

Lovely team actually - the double united attack is looking good. The forwards are easy to switch around so I'd be tempted to get one of the Watford guys for Jota/Wood/Barnes. Or upgrade McCarthy to Pope 🙂

Thanks! Im thinking to sell Martial maybe or upgrade my bench (and prepare for BB maybe).
Barnes to Sarr/Buendia looks ok but who to bench if I do it??

Was "All-Out Attack" actually an FPL chip? What did it do?

Yes. You can play all attacking players and just 2 defenders.

      2-5-3 you can say

Sounds fun, but it seems like modern-day full-backs killed the need for it.

You play only two defenders. And typically the rest of your defenders get clean sheets. Or one of your attackers gets benched and you get a third defender off the bench anyways.

Any vFPL suggestions? 1FT 0 ITB. Cheers 🙂

      So sexy!
I’ve been tinkering with how to add Alonso to my (already quite similar to your) lineup.
You’ve inspired me to make it happen.

    (Virtual FPL)
    Pope (Button)
    TAA Robbo Stevens (Stephens, Lascelles)
    Bruno Barnes Mane KDB (Hayden)
    Jota Pukki Ings*
    0.5itb 2ft

Bit stuck so would welcome ideas and I'm not that sure about the options below. I'd like Alonso, more Man Utd soon etc. I was set on getting Cantwell as an enabler - but I'm surprised to keep seeing him benched.

    A) Stevens, Ings and Barnes to Alonso, Martial and Long/G'wood (-4)
    B) Ings and Barnes to Cantwell* and Rashford
    C) Ings and Barnes to Abraham and Sarr
    D) Stevens and Ings to Deeney and Alonso

I like B and C. Depends whether you trust Abraham or Rashford more

If only Cantwell was nailed, with his fixtures at 4.8 he's perfect. Bit of a risk. Rashford over Abraham would be preferable, but Martial isn't a bad deputy so I'm considering him too.

A does allow Hayden to Cantwell actually (but it's a hit or two over the next few weeks)

I would go with D actually. Deeney is nailed + on penalties I think. Got 4 good fixtures next !

Barnes or Perez? They both have very similar stats and are the exact same price but I can't convince myself that one is "better" than the other.
    Any thoughts?

I have Barnes but as you say nothing between them really. I'd rather have Sarr than both at the moment and even Traore is surely ready to blow

      1. BNMC

I have Sarr too; I've been looking to shift from 343 to 352 to capitalise on Leicester's fixtures.
I may even go for Mount because Chelsea have good fixtures too, but he hasn't convinced me enough.

Alonso and Abraham are interesting for me. I agree about formation - hence wanting Cantwell

I've owned Vardy from the start & from what I've experienced, LEI are not that good.
Only 1 of their next 3 is a decent fixture but I'm not sure they can take advantage of BHA's weaknesses.
If you still want to get a fox, don't forget Tielemans.

Yeah so much to think about, shame I only have about 10 hours to decide. I mean I could always burn an FT but why would I?

I got Traore ahead of gw5 as WOL cover but he disappointed by blanking in their 4-0 win.
He outscored Jimenez in gw6 only because the Mexican missed a pen.
Traore's numbers are decent & make me not feel an immediate need to get Jimenez or Jota.

Which sacrifices would you make to afford Auba?
Could do a straight swap of Vardy to Laca in hope he can cover Auba.

    Pope Button
    TAA Gomez O'Connell Ward Lascelles
    Mane KDB Fernandes Traore Saka
    Vardy Pukki DCL

I know Laca has been involved but he was actually benched last game. Only 2 goals, with Auba at 6, not sure he covers Auba

What an addiction you've created mate... you've got me hooked!
On the subject, the plan before gw6 was to do KDB to Mahrez to find some money for moves like Auba in, but gw6 killed it with KDB's haul while Mahrez got benched.

You never know with City, maybe KDB is the next to be rotated, although he does seem to be the most nailed of them all.

I really have a feeling, as many others in the community I guess, that starting with the amazing LiveFPL page & now with vFPL, you have a great future ahead.
FPL should already have made you an offer to make them better (show them how algos work & fix what they can't, like the fact they have let the game run, pointlessly, with deadlines passing & transfers being wasted instead of simply freezing the whole thing, it's their app afterall, if anyone they should have full control unless it's Frankenstein).
            Keep it up!

I think the ability to run pre GW friendlies would be a great addition to FFS site for FPL next season. Really helps visualise the stats (which I know are in the members area)

Thank you for such kind words sir 🙂 I am enjoying the ride, developing my skills to do something I am passionate about. LiveFPL itself took me over a year to become what it is, it was a huge project. Which made the creation of Virtual FPL relatively easy, the main things in the game took me a couple of weeks. But then creating pages to make transfers and changes to the team, and present results etc took forever 😀

Glad it's enjoyable for many 🙂 Thanks again!

Cripes. Well I sold Auba to get KDB so I think you stick for one more and then make room. Barnes to Cantwell maybe then auba as part of 2ft next week with more cash

Man United's long term fixtures are going under the radar.

Every half-decent, serious VFPL manager has Fernandes but who should we partner with him?

    A) Rashford: form 6.6 / attacking Involvements 36

    B) Martial: form 4.4 / attacking Involvements 52

Some tables for vFPL managers ahead of GW7:

    - Sharp Shooters
    - Attacking Defenders
    - Best Value Midfielders and Forwards

Hey Rag, if you're around, just a question.

Are the lineups and subs random or does the game try to keep them to a formation? Just asking because sometimes I've seen some strange subs, like a winger coming on for a CB.

Maybe something you could implement is subs depending on the score. For example, a team losing by a goal or two may bring on more attacking players to try and get back into the game, or a team winning narrowly may bring on more defensive players to try and hold the lead.

      Hi BNMC,

They are not random, subs are already implemented to depend on the score. When wingers come on for a CB, that's because the team is losing and is taking the risk. While winning teams have a tendency to make defense oriented subs, like winger to CB.

Lineups are not random too. They are based on a mixture of current vFPL form and real FPL minutes from this season.

So, starting lineups must have some valid formation, but then subs can change that if the team needs the risk.

So for example even if Mahrez will score a brace in back to back games he can be benched in the next game cuz in real PL he wasnt nailed, right?
And player like Salah - if he blank 2 games in a row he will start another one as he is nailed player this season. Etc, etc.

        Am I right here?

Yes. Mahrez scoring gives him a better nailed-on status, say from 60% to 80%, but never 100%.

Salah blanking will decrease him from say 90% to 80%, which is still pretty good. But the more he blanks, the less nailed he becomes. Same story for every player, not just those examples.

There have been some cracking games. For me VPL less predictable than FPL in a great way. Would be mighty if the simulated games could be fed into FIFA so we could watch them back with a few beers on VMOTD 🙂

Based on some research I may go a little crazy, you may say looking at my bench, and play like this:

    Pope
    TAA O'Connell Lascelles Ward
    KDB Saka Fernandes Mane Traore
    Pukki

    Button Gomez DCL Vardy

That's just daft. You'd play O'Connell instead of Vardy!!?!

Seems hard to ignore so I've brought in Pukki for Wood this week.

    If anyone cares.

    Pope
    TAA, Gomez, Ward
    Salah, Son, Fernandes, Lundstram.
    Auba, Pukki, DCL.

    Button, Baldock, Dendoncker, C.Taylor.

    Ragabolly is a legend.

Donated a payment to him yesterday, I urge everyone else to do so if they can.

Like I said previously, really enjoying the game. Even more so than normal FPL.

If you’re playing it and can afford too, definitely.

I'm struggling to find decent straight replacements for the same money or less for Barnes or Wood. Alonso looks better value at that price point so I'm thinking of switching to a 4-3-3. How does this look ?

    Pope (Button)
TAA, Alonso, AWB, Saiss/Lescelles (who rotate well)
    Mane, KDB, Fernandes (Saka, Hayden)
    Vardy, Jota, Pukki

This weeks moves would be Barnes and Wood, to Pukki and Saka, leaving MITB to get Alonso (for Ward).

I'm playing Ward (and even Hanley) ahead of Egan.

Just ran a simulation. Traore finished with 36 attacking involvements, yet not return!

He only came good this season. The algorithm still must have him with his headless chicken attributes from previous seasons.
