The first round of our FFS Members Cup competition took place in Double Gameweek 27, as did the second round of our FFS Open Cup.

The draws have now been made for the next rounds of each tournament, with the details below.

Thanks go to TopMarx for his assistance with the results breakdown.

FFS Open Cup

The results from the second round of our FFS Open Cup can be viewed here.

The draw for the third round of our FFS Open Cup can be viewed here.

Lokomotiv and Leon Harris are still flying the flag for the former winners of this competition.

The former squeaked past Kadd by 72-71 in round two, with the latter – who sits well within the top 10k – was a 79-64 victor over Mountnaldo.

The appropriately named the special one amassed the biggest score of Gameweek 27, defeating Archie Kendall by 119-71.

Munchen KfC can count themselves unfortunate to bow out, with their score of 90 – which was 12 more than the average tie winner posted – not enough to see off Pessi Pete, who managed two points more.

Golden Gelhaars meanwhile progressed despite scoring just 48, which was still enough to eliminate arun777akj.

The Fighting Cock is our best-performing remaining entrant, sitting at 307th in the world.

Our only other round three participant who has a top 1k overall rank is EJAAZ11, who lies 539th in the world.

The full draw for the second round of our FFS Members Cup can be viewed here.

Three of the four previous champions who entered this year’s tournament were eliminated at the first hurdle.

Malaikat Jahad lost 57-82 to Acventura, rrcmc was edged out 59-67 by Chaballer and waltzingmatildas was defeated 44-73 by RAMAJAMA.

Pep Pig was a comfortable 77-38 winner over Darzinho, however, and will now face Fitzy. in round two.

Atl0r was the highest-scoring manager of round one, racking up 121 points en route to victory over L.F.C K.9.

The ‘unluckiest’ tag goes to Muc1999, who lost out by overall rank after a 91-all tie with TedTalksFPL despite accumulating 14 points more than the average winning score.

GivetNgog‘s 51 was the lowest winning score of the round and enough to see off COSTALOT by four points.

A.J., who sits at 207th in the world, is our highest-ranked manager left in the competition.

The aforementioned EJAAZ11 is still fighting on two fronts having made it through to round two of the FFS Members Cup.

HOW DO THE CUP COMPETITIONS WORK?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round were randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a draw, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

Boy oh boy, I just can't settle on my captain and bench. Please sort out my bench order and/or make a captaincy argument for or against Cancelo and/or Digne. Appreciated 🙂

    Martinez
    (C)ancelo Digne(v)
    Bruno
    Kane DCL Richarlison

Stones (ful): Seems like an obvious pick for CS. Can get bonus (especially if Fulham manage to restrict City attack somewhat) and even a goal.

TAA (wol): Strong chance of CS despite form given the form of Wolves without Jimmy. Creating lots of chances too.

Targett (new): Another strong chance of a CS.

Minamino (BHA): Southampton look very capable going forward, despite the team's penchant for implosion, and Minamino is a real threat.

ESR (TOT): Returned from injury for cameo against Olympiakos last night. The catalyst for Arsenal's current form and likely to start vs Spurs.

Gundo (ful): Probably less of a threat, playing a bit deeper, but can pop up in the right place for a goal. Could be rested given recent minutes and get a cameo, although Pep's not making many subs.

Son (ars): Taking on a more creative role since Bale's resurgence, and Bale is likely to start again. Arsenal are good defensively, and any mistakes they make are more likely punished by Bale or Kane.

Don't bench Son against Arsenal. You will hate it even more when he inevitably scores.

I feel he has not been same since return from injury and probably wont get enough header chances vs Tarkowski and Mee. Its obviously tough to make the right decision with those options 😛

Bench: Minamino - Targett - ESR in that order, Would expect first sub to play as Gundo rest is likely. It's a headache though. BB would be great if you had it

I think you're overreacting a bit. I think this because Kane and Son seem to have more goal threat right now, based on stats and eyes. So any mistake that leads directly to a goal won't have a Son assist attached. I'd be happy to hear why you think I'm wrong 🙂

City have conceded 6 in their last 4. I think I the backline goes back to its best (Cancelo Dias Stones Zinc) City have a good chance of a CS but that air of invulnerability seems to be gone with the constant rotation. Fulham also play well in the games against the top sides. ESR too big of a risk with only returning and Odegaard playing well. I'd be most tempted by Targett or Son out of the rest myself.

Thanks Nate. I think ESR is nailed to 3rd bench slot. His main threat is Willian and Pepe, since the best Arsenal team has both him and Odegaard in it. Still a risk compared to the other options.

        Targett, I think I'd go 2nds slot too 🙂

And then the difficult 1st slot. Plenty of friction when I've suggested benching him on here. To be expected, I suppose. Gotta try and be objective and compare to my other options, but it's obviously a guessing game. My gut fancies Minamino more than Son, for example, but I'm also wary of being an Arsenal fan. 😐

        Thanks again

Honestly I wouldn't mind what people say here too much about stuff like that. Sometimes Sometimes I get stuck and ask for advice here on bench / first XI dilemmas and don't tend to get much more than "you can't bench X". I remember early on I had Robbo and said I was benching him because Liverpool had conceded a few recently and I fancied they would in the next game and was told "never bench Robbo", and when I asked why I was told you just can't bench a premium player and I find that nonsensical. There are always times where there are good reasons to bench any player in the game, whether it's Dan Burn or Fernandes. Saying that there's never an occasion where you can bench a player is silly. I ended up listening and regretted it anyway but I sold him after that (before a lot of people began to give up on Pool defence as a necessity) and didn't look back. Some people are great for help here don't get me wrong but I just guess I don't have a black and white view of stuff like this.

Whatever you decide good luck, good to see some unique captain choices choices anyway. I'm going Mount, or at least I think I am although Havertz possibly occupying his spaces (or his actual spot in the team) is making me think of changing but I'm in work tonight so apart from checking tweets from the pressers I think I'll just act like my team is done and hope for the best!

      Bench

DCL - off form and Rich looks the better bet and one Everton attacker enough
Minamino - reluctantly as he's such a good differential. Brighton I think will concede again but likely just the one and so he needs 100% GI
      ESR

Captain - I'm not the one to ask! But think of the two defenders Digne is the more likely to get returns at both ends. Brought him in this week but there again I brought him in for the slam dunk cs against Newcastle too.

        Thanks Pingissimus!

I'm now considering DCL. I don't agree with the rationale that any amount of any team is 'enough'. The question is simply DCL vs X. Richarlison and Digne are irrelevant imo. But it's a fair point about his form.

You're convincing me a little more to start Minamino, since I think Saints might score more than one goal.

Btw I found that VAR might be using 120fps cameras or higher in the prem, though I don't know what happens if they use different camera angles. I can't be bothered to spend the time to understand it haha

Take your point about enough. I'm just seeing Everton as a "one goal" team right now and Rich the more likely to provide. Were Hamez about and truly fit I'd play DCL.

Comparing DCL with Targett I'd simply have the cs for Villa as being more probable than the attacking return for DCL.

In your shoes I'd really really want to play Minamino. Perhaps he is the option that gives you most upside and should get in ahead of either DCL or Targett

            • 10 Years
            5 years, 1 month ago

Minamino plays! I probably agree with your DCL/Targett assessment, but it's not impossible that DCL scores 2, while Targett can't get 2 CSs. Gonna choose between benching DCL and Gundo now 🙂

I would bench ESR and Minamino and then it's difficult. I wouldn't bench Stones, Gundo or Son so it's one of TAA or Targett and I think I'd start TAA. So bench for me is Targett, Minamino, ESR. I've not done well with captaining defenders so I'd be boring and go Kane/Bruno

Can't see him missing NLD. To me Jose sounded quite positive about him.

doing the same, but the kane flag isn't the main reason - just think Bruno will score more

don't see high scoring NLD and can't really see many viable options. No Lingardo either for Hammers
Bruno scored in his last 3 home matches

I have Pope and McCarthy. Won’t have a keeper for gw 29. Will take a hit to bring in Bale and either Antonio or Aubameyang
