Sky Sports Fantasy Football team reveal: Triple Brighton, double Villa and Toney

Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to be partnering with Sky Sports Fantasy Football this season – bringing you even more content on the popular, free-to-enter game.

This week, last season’s 44th-place finisher, Clean Sheet Wipeout, reveals his latest draft for the crucial first three Gameweeks of the season, before the Overhaul kicks in.

TEAM REVEAL

ROBERT SANCHEZ (£6.5m), LEWIS DUNK (£8.2m) and ADAM WEBSTER (£7.0m)

With two home fixtures in the opening three and the possibility of a couple of clean sheets during that time, I’m backing Brighton and Hove Albion with a defensive triple-up.

Lewis Dunk (£8.2m) and Adam Webster (£7.0m) are also both capable of hitting regular passing tiers which is a huge bonus for defenders.

RUBEN DIAS (£10.6m)

The Manchester City defender offers captaincy potential as he usually hits that passing tier.

As a result, when they keep a clean sheet you’re looking at a 20-point return!

If I don’t bring in a West Ham United asset for their match-up against Newcastle United, he will be my captain on the Sunday of Matchday 1.

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD (£10.5m)

The Liverpool right-back ended the season in top form and I expect him to hit the ground running again.

He is more than capable of getting attacking returns as well as clean sheets in the opening three fixtures.

However, I may consider Virgil van Dijk (£10.2m) as an alternative, providing he is fit of course.

BRUNO FERNANDES (£11.8m)

The most expensive midfielder in the game, who will be highly owned and will most likely be my captain in at last two of the opening three weeks.

It would be frightening to go without him in this format!

EMILIANO BUENDIA (£7.9m)

I really like Aston Villa’s first three fixtures against Watford (a), Newcastle United (h) and Brentford (h), and given the signings that they have made this summer I’m expecting returns.

Emiliano Buendía (£7.9m) is a great route into their attacking set-up at a reasonable price.

HARVEY BARNES (£8.6m)

The Leicester City winger was really unfortunate to be hit by injury last season, but after a summer’s rest and pre-season behind him, Harvey Barnes (£8.6m) could be a great differential to gamble on in the opening three weeks.

His is very capable of multiple attacking returns under Brendan Rodgers, as proven in 2020/21.

MOHAMED SALAH (£11.9m)

The 29-year-old is a must-have in my opinion and will be the most highly owned captain on the Saturday of the opening weekend.

That Norwich City match-up could be full of goals and I’d expect Mohamed Salah (£11.9m) to be involved.

IVAN TONEY (£7.9m)

If you aren’t going with an Arsenal player to start the season then surely the Friday captaincy option has to be Ivan Toney (£7.9m).

Brentford will want to start well and Toney is the main man.

At just £7.9m, he’s a great forward option.

DANNY INGS (£9.1m)

This one hurts as a Southampton fan, but now at Aston Villa Danny Ings (£9.1m) becomes a great option for the first three weeks.

He will surely play through the middle and given the service behind him, they should create plenty of opportunities.

He may well end up on penalty-taking duties too, should Anwar El Ghazi‘s game-time be limited.

start with Grealish. You'll have another transfer you'll want to make, and if you don't, then you'll have two going into GW3.

I hear ya on that, but I like if for the first two or three weeks then Mahrez can go down to Harrison or Raph and the funds can fix that issue plus Tsimi to a 4.5

sorry, didn't scroll up! They're really good picks. I had Coufal but then dropped him when I saw Ogbonna was out and Moyes went to 4 at the back. Is he likely to go back to wingbacks once Ogbonna is back, do you know?

Thanks ! He hasn’t used it all pre season, we’re also quite restrained on players/systems this year due to our tiny tiny squad and injuries. 4 at the back will be the way but if we’re doing really badly I wouldn’t be surprised to see him fall back on it later down the line

I think if you use it gw1 and forget it you will be better off then using transfers planning for a double Gameweek that never pays off. Now 4.0 defenders and 4.5 defenders have a massive change of clean sheets gw1 (White and Tsimikas)

      3. LT10
        • 12 Years
        2 years, 8 months ago

That has usually been my thinking.... but if you use it later in the season you need to keep decent players on your bench, waiting for the 'right week' to use it. Good players on the bench = less money to spend on your starting eleven.

If you use it early, you can have non-playing cheapies on your bench in the second half of the season.

No, the longer the season goes on, you have double gameweeks & also your team will be worth more.

Therefore, you'll have better players, who will average better points, with the possibility of 2x games in a week.

Mathematically, keep it till later. However, this is fantasy football and anything can pay off 🙂

      Good luck!

I was just waiting on Woodman to come in at 4m to press my Bench Boost. Now he's there at 4.5 it's disappointing. But even so, never again will there be a GW with 2x4.0 defenders with easy fixtures, so I might go for it anyway.

        1. Andy_Social
          • 11 Years
          2 years, 8 months ago

Consider also there might only be 2 DGWs this season, which is when I'd play my other chips.

    7. Mr. O'Connell
      • 11 Years
      2 years, 8 months ago

Pretty set on this. Clouds judgement later in the season. 40 points from a BB in a DGW may look good, but it tends to cost a hell of a lot of points as you sub-optimally play the game in the surrounding weeks. Getting shot of the chip in week 1 looks a very good idea this season given the 4.0 defenders which are likely to start and have a decent CS chance.

      1. Mr. O'Connell
        • 11 Years
        2 years, 8 months ago

40 points is obviously extreme. Especially as I scored negative points from my BB last year thanks to a Dawson red card and 2 no-shows.

Each to their own I guess, but my theory is based more off gut feeling that BB is a really crap chip. I've seen an average (if not good) BB generates around 15-20 points. I reckon there's a lot of points lost in setting it up (usually on a WC) and struggling to get the value back into your XI later in the season when transfers are at a premium. Be interesting to see the data around this.

        1. LT10
          • 12 Years
          2 years, 8 months ago

Last season, the amount of transfers I spent preparing to use the BB in the DGW didn't justify the pay back.

So, I'm seriously considering using the BB in GW 1 or 2 this season,

"Expected to be fit' is still quite some ways from a guaranteed start in the first few fixtures- may be enough to put most off, especially with so many forward options around in his price bracket

Everton are going to have to demonstrate that they aren't a dumpster fire before I go there. With James seeming to not fit in Rafa's plans, there's a huge cloud of question marks over the midfield as far as I'm concerned.

    Sanchez
    Shaw TAA Tsimi Digne
    Salah Son Bruno Raph
    Toney Antonio

    Steele, White, Gilmour, 4.5

    Couple of options:

This looks familiar. I've been around and around and around on these 6, and settled on Grealish and Benrahma.

Can't decide on Tsimi. It's doing my napper in a little.

At the moment I'm against it, the injury news doesn't seem too bad. Klopp even suggesting before international break is a possibility, so after is almost a certainty.

That's 3 GW max until he is blocking a Liverpool slot. What happens if Jota becomes a regular player and you want a 3rd man? Or Salah or Trent get an injury and you're down to 1 Pool player, if they're firing you're really going to want to get 2 in minimum and with their fixtures who would bet against them. You don't want to be losing 2 transfers in the first 3 GWs, it's forced early wildcard territory if something else in your team goes wrong (which it will).

A lot of people were against a Liverpool defensive double up to begin with. Citing VVD rustiness, Liverpool slow clean sheet start in recent seasons, uncertainty on who will partner VVD and their limited pre season, and CM looking a bit weaker to begin with. Surely taking out one of the best LB in the world is going to add to that risk? I can't see Tsimi being given the trust/license to bomb forward from the off so attacking returns likely to be limited.

Then the counter is it's a 4m defender in one of the best sides in the league on an easy fixture run. I think if you plan on wildcarding early (GW2-3) it may be worth it. Otherwise I'm just not that sure. Especially with a number of decent defensive options for £4.5-£5m

Yep, your Wildcard comment is exact the crux of the issue. If your happy to go early. If not I don’t think it’s worth it.
I want preserve WC & also prefer to gamble on the upside of Jota rather than double up on a defence we don’t know we can trust.

He plays for 3 weeks. No more no less.

He will attack because that's what he does and that's where pool get their width.

He could potentially get 20 points in 3 weeks which is good going at 4.0.

that allows Salah bruno and mahrez for me in midfield. I will probably upgrade him to a 4.5 during the international break.

This is not as hard as you make it sound

I don't think it's as black and white as he will attack. Has he played in the Premier league before?

        Valid points.
What’s rest of your defence looking like?

You will laugh but at the moment its

          Sanchez
          Trent shaw tsimi amartey omo

O.5 itb for my upgrade in international break.

That gives me two transfers in two weeks with one planned with money saved for international break.

I am looking at tsimikas as a 5.5 in terms of expected points so while my bench is thin, I feel this defence is strong but both if those 4.0 are playing and amartey is in a good defence too. My plan is too wildcard gw 7. There is some risk here but not as much as 3 4.0 defenders should carry. I think this unique season is offering an fpl link that I plan to take advantage of. But yes there is risk. I guess I am up for it

Also to do that you're missing out on one of TAA, Jota or Salah. Any one of them could haul big in the first 3 GWs. You're limiting your chances with Tsimi

He could haul as well as all of them you are correct.

That's why you go for the one who enables 3 million more to get better players elsewhere

Also, by upgrading him to a 4.5m in the itb your immediately banking a transfer in the first few weeks. That's 4pts gone. Want to jump on a bandwagon too? Thats a hit. Someone gets a knock or is surprisingly out of favour? That's another hit.

It's not as simple as you think

How is spending a transfer before gw 4 four points? What happened to my free transfers? I usually bank a transfer in gw 1 and then use 1 2 or 3 dependent on team situation in week 2. Planning one for the international break means taking away my mini wildcard option and that's worth the upside. Why Icant climb on a bandwagon if I upgrade tsimi in the itb is beyond me

I'm dealing with it by having 0.5 itb with an eye to be ready to move off Tsimi as soon as he's done with his cup of coffee with the starting XI. Thinking of it as a temporary gift that I shouldn't turn down. The rest of my team is built with a more long-term view. At most one planned action (Benrahma to Harrison at some point?) until the fixtures turn around week seven.

Classic case of over thinking......4.0 attacking defender playing for LFC with golden fixtures.........bank a transfer and solve the problem when three is a problem to solve.

Son is a premium player who (if Kane goes) could play up top, will be on penalties and an excellent captain option for gw3.

I like Barnes but think Son will outscore him comfortably for the first 6 and onwards
