Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are faced with a tough captaincy decision for Gameweek 2.

Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) and Bruno Fernandes (£12.1m) go head-to-head again after huge opening-day hauls, but there are other FPL assets whose cases deserve examining too, including Sadio Mané (£12.0m), Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m) and Son Heung-min (£10.0m).

First, we will assess the fallout of the Gameweek 2 Captain Poll, before then analysing the leading candidates, Rate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 BST deadline.

THE CAPTAIN POLL

Unsurprisingly, Salah has dominated the vote so far.

The Egyptian midfielder, who produced a goal and two assists last time out, has gained 63.4% of total votes from our users at the time of writing.

Only one other player has garnered more than 10% of votes at this stage, with Manchester United midfielder Fernandes currently in second place, backed by 19.79%.

Mahrez occupies third place with 2.88% of votes, with the top-five list completed by Kevin De Bruyne (£12.0m) and Mane, with 2.3% and 1.54% respectively.

MOHAMED SALAH AND SADIO MANE

I did have a look at Trent, in detail to be fair, I just think we need to give Liverpool's defence a little longer to settle before we consider him, as clean sheet points are so important as a captain. Just my opinion though, could of course work out and I'm wrong.

You win the whole thing by scoring the most points. Captain who you think will score more, not who is owned by less.

I do think they’ll hammer Burnley. Salah edges it for me vs Bruno.

Mind you, I’d still captain Bruno over Mane or Jota if I owned them.

Burnley will park the bus and Liverpool will score less because of that… In form Man U and Bruno already smashed Southampton last season and their defense is weaker than last time. Bruno for me!

I’d probably rather have a 4 mil defender last on the bench and have 0.5 to upgrade elsewhere. But that can be done later, no urgent changes needed I don’t think

1 goal in 7 aganist Burnley clearly shows that they have managed to tactically shut him down.

Think I’ll be staying clear of him for captain and will go Bruno, maybe Mahrez

It even gives balance to the team if they play together, 2 attacking mids, a winger, and a striker. The Smith is one of the best in the team, and he shouldn't lose his place especially when PL is basically all they play for.

    Morning all,

Wondering if anyone here has done FPL Draft before? Any specific tactics I should be aware of? Should you be swapping players in and out regularly?

I have Pepe but thinking of switching to Benrahma or Bailey given Arsenal next 2 matches (and their week 1 showing). That wise?

I've only just started doing draft and feel like it's a free hit every week which is fun. Obvs need to keep in mind that anyone who you trade out can get snapped up. My plan is to have a Base squad with 2/3 rotating punts each week.

Yeah same. Not too worried if I don’t get Pepe back. A few core players for sure who will never leave the team! Do you plan ahead to future fixtures or always just focus on next one up?
