Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have three main captain candidates for Gameweek 6, with Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.7m), Mohamed Salah (£12.6m) and Michail Antonio (£7.9m) all in the conversation.

First, we will assess the fallout of the Gameweek 6 captain poll, before then analysing the best options, Rate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 BST deadline.

Antonio occupies third place with 7.98%, with the top-five list completed by Romelu Lukaku (£11.6m) and Bruno Fernandes (£11.9m), with 3.52% and 2.35% respectively.

Benitez didn't say DCL was injured either and he was. He's rapidly becoming the least trustworthy manager for injury news in the entire league.

Ok been mulling over getting rid of Bamford and the options were Armstrong, ASM and Antonio. The easy one is Antonio as think he’s will do well v Leeds but fixtures after that are not easy.
However I want to get a Chelsea defender in for Shaw next week. I could only get in Silva if I did the above. However if I got in ASM I could get Alonso. ASM looks on fire but does have 3 away fixtures in next 4.
I then thought I could do nothing( which I never do). Alan v Norwich would come on for Bamford. Then next week could use two transfers to get Alonso.
Over thinking it now as always. Any advice would be great.

I'd just get Antonio. If he outscores ASM by 4 points that would cover a hit next week for the Chelsea defender of your choice. I don't think Silva is a bad pick anyway, as long as he stays fit.

Cheers. The save part was that Bamford does have good fixtures so if fit next week could outscore Antonio. Think Silva at £5.4m could be great value but Alonso looks so good at the moment.

I think Antonio is a good pick regardless of fixtures.

ASM is a great player but he is carrying the whole team.

Alonso is definitely on my radar but can wait a week and concerned Chilwell will eventually replace him.

Holding a transfer, you will appreciate it next week.

I think you're under-estimating Antonio in relation to future short-term fixtures. I reckon you should post your team with strategy to get some critical analysis & more positive feedback.

You could be right and that’s my issue sometimes overthinking it in thinking the more you think the more you can get out. Never posted my team before but here goes
        SA
        TAA Shaw Marcal Livramento
        Salah Gray Fornals
        Bamford CR7 Lukaku

        Subs - Alan Sissoko Christensen

So plan is to get another Chelsea defender and Man City defender soon.
If I get Antonio in I can do Shaw to Silva and then my plan is Fornals to £4.5 and Marcal to Cancello.
Won’t be to everyone’s taste but big 4 in defence, great 3 up top and light in midfield.
So back to the question if it get Antonio in I can only get Silva in next week on a free.
If I hold I can do SA to Ramsdale and then Shaw to Alonso/ Rudiger etc
Silva was immense v Spurs so could play more then not. If that’s the case it’s an easy switch to Antonio this week

I think you should publish this on the main blog to get more analysis than mine. That was my point. I'm a manly conservative, sometime adventurous type of mgr and I think you need input from all types to explore the options and then make some short-term rational decisions which lead to a strategy you're comfortable with. Use the forum as a sounding-board, then make your own decisions. A forum is a place of discussion and/then debate.

My perspective is that based on now your strategy looks fine, but the balance of the the team is way off in mf. If that's a concious strategy then ok, but when City fixtures turn or a Che mf or other asset begins to look prominent, how do you get there?

Gray for me - I like Sarr, but he had done nothing before he faced Norwich and Gray now faces Norwich. I think both are good options, but I wouldn't let recency bias from one game against Norwich for Sarr determine my decision.

Do you take a hit to get a player on a good run?
playing my WC I factored in getting Alonso/Rudiger Dias/Cancelo for hits through GW7 to 9. Getting Lukaku and 3 of those mentioned will cost me 8 points without disturbances. Seems far cheaper than a WC.

I never play a WC factoring in future hits. I someone take a hit to get a player who I think ai need urgently or will more likely than not repay the hit over the next few weeks.

Yes. Should pay for the points spent. Also after WC do it again. I think wildcarding to avoid a -8 or -12 isn't a great plan. Will still have hard choices and a few hits to take either side if it.

I took an 8-point hit 2 weeks ago. Got 80 points and catapulted into the Top 500. Not saying it happens all the time, but if you think it's the right move, don't be scared off.

Exactly, even though I'm doing shite. Take a few risks, and a few hits. A lot if current wikdcards are more fitting Lukaku, Ronaldo, Salah and TAA and another 11 in to teams that had a pretty good balance pre WC. Or selling players in form because fixtures look difficult for them to win but still they will get attacking points.

8 points is nothing in the big scheme of things. It seems more radical because of ranking early on. If you need to do it, do it IMO

For Bamford replacement, over the next two, not seeing any mentions of Maupay.

Surely he's as good an option as ASM or Armstrong?

I'm thinking of taking a punt on him for the next three, mainly because of the Norwich game.

Pens help, it's just the last two seasons he has underperformed in front of goal. If he becomes a bit more clinical he would be great.

Maupay's consistency is questionable, very good striker when he's at it. Toney, new to PL, starting to find his feet and has red fixtures. Brentford mightn't win any of them but he can still score. Thankfully no-one will get him.

With Mount out, that should mean Chelsea play a midfield 3. Anyone else think James might have a chance of starting now then?

A good chance yes, but whilst I'm expecting a midfield 3, it could still mean Azpi plays RWB.

yeah for sure. It's just with the defensive cover that the 3 provide in midfield, both Azpi/Alonso were extremely attacking last GW in the second half vs Spurs, and James is better offensively than Azpi.
