Leicester City v Tottenham Hotspur has become the third Gameweek 17 fixture to be postponed because of Covid-19.

Antonio Conte’s side had already had their last two games against Rennes in the UEFA Europa Conference League and Brighton and Hove Albion called off due to a Covid outbreak, while the Foxes camp have also been affected, having seen further cases rise in the last 24 hours.

As a result, Leicester had an insufficient number of first-team players available to fulfil the match.

“Given the increase in positive tests among First Team personnel, First Team operations at Seagrave will now be closed for 48 hours, serving as a circuit breaker to help reduce the risk of further infection. First team players and staff will undergo a subsequent round of testing on Saturday.” – Leicester City Football Club

Tuesday’s game between Brentford and Manchester United fell by the wayside as a result of the Red Devils reporting a string of positive tests, while yesterday’s clash between Burnley v Watford was similarly postponed.

Given the situation, more Gameweek 17 cancellations can’t be ruled out. However, tonight’s two other matches – Chelsea v Everton (19:45) and Liverpool v Newcastle United (20:00) – are set to proceed, at least at the time of writing.

At this point, I think I'm just going to leave my team on autopilot just for fun. When you transfer players in for hits so you could field a full 11 because most of your player's games have been postponed, just to see those new players also miss out because they're either rotated or their games have been postponed as well,it just defeats the purpose of making transfers in the first place.

it's probably the worst time to free hit. waste a chip on games getting cancelled in the game week.

better to just take the pain.

James and Mount are mostly owned fpl assets so if you wanted to get some fpl managers nervous, you would name them when starting false rumour and someone else also. Perhaps not Rudiger so that it wouldn't look like too obvious.

Yeah true. Hope its accurate. It does make you wonder though. The articles Ive read make out that the news has really impacted on Tuchel's preparation plans. Lukaku hasnt been starting games anyway, Chillwell is injured and CHO isnt exactly a regular starter either so I cant see how it has caused any disruption.

Very much possible that James could have been rested or have his minutes managed and Lukaku was building his match fitness and might have started. They didn't pay that much just keep him as a sub.

It is good for goalkeeper to be able to use all fingers he has. He wasn't in good form either, so I think the risk of him being benched was mentioned here many times. They showed live on tv when his finger was taped.

Just have patience. It's like people shifting between City mids when one doesn't haul and another does, chances are you'll end up missing out on the right points. See whether games are being played this weekend or not and then if Vieira has anything to say but moving keepers back and forth could be a disaster

Not really. I don't follow everton. I know liverpool are bottom of net spend for the last 5 years and they only bought konate in the last 2 seasons so when I hear another manager spent less than klopp it is surprising. But 2 million will do the trick. I think it's unfair to judge a manager on another's signings

But he hasn’t been given even a chance to suggest otherwise. That’s the point I’m making. Anyone managing Everton during this period would struggle A LOT. I get you’re an Everton fan and it’s your club but you can’t just call him a toxic signing because of his Liverpool link.

I can call him a toxic signing because of his Liverpool link because half the fans didn't want him, vehemently.
I'm not one of those fans and actually thought he might do a good job
18matches later I now know he cannot do a good job for the reasons specified above, which I'll repeat; He's falling out with first teamers when the team are injury ridden...his tactics are dated and has overseen the worst run in 27years

You had 1 loss in the first 7, and the injuries started before gameweek 7 anyway, wasn't DCL playing through injury from 2-3 and then missed the games anyway

Every team has lucky wins and unlucky losses, points are what mattered and he was doing fine

the caveat to those reports is average age in South Africa is 28, and many are reinfections, so its lots of young people who already had covid getting it which could make the effects less severe

This is the latest on children

Researchers in Germany have published an important new study on the risk of COVID-19 in children.
Before I give you the highlights, I want to tell you what distinguishes this study from previous research on this topic.
Most studies that have looked at COVID-19 risk in children simply divide the number of kids with severe outcomes by the number of kids with confirmed COVID-19 who present to the healthcare system.
This dramatically increases the denominator, which in turn overestimates the risk because it excludes the much higher number of children who have COVID-19 but don’t seek healthcare because their symptoms are so mild. In fact, 40% of children with COVID-19 are completely asymptomatic.
The German researchers addressed this issue by dividing the number of kids with severe outcomes by the number of all kids with COVID-19 (not just those who presented to the healthcare system). This provides a much more accurate assessment of risk.
Here are the highlights of what the researchers found for healthy kids with COVID-19:
            • The risk of ICU admission in kids ages 0 to 17 was 8 per 100,000 (0.08%) and only 2 per 100,000 (0.02%) in kids 5 to 11.
            • There were only 3 deaths among the 1,056,276 kids studied (0.0000284%); not a single child between 5 and 17 years old died.
            • Children 5 to 11 years old have a lower risk than those

            1. Crunchie
              • Fantasy Football Scout Member
              • 7 Years
              4 years, 2 months ago

To put this in perspective, the risk of death from flu in children ages 0 to 17 during the 2019-2020 flu season in the U.S. was approximately 10 per 1 million, or 3.33-fold higher than the risk of death from COVID-19 in this German study.
This is great news for parents. The German study shows us that the risk of COVID-19 to all kids is very low—and even lower for healthy kids with no comorbidities or pre-existing health problems.
What’s more, we know from an accumulating body of evidence ( that eating a healthy diet, staying active, and maintaining adequate nutrient status (vitamin D and zinc in particular) will also help protect both adults and children from infection and severe outcomes
