Three festive Premier League matches have already been postponed for Covid-19 reasons but you can still salvage a nice Christmas bonus out of the FPL wreckage with Fantasy5.

They are ploughing ahead with their Gameweek 19 event, which need we remind you is completely free-to-play, and are offering a cool £1,000 if you can correctly predict a player to beat their given points target from each of the weekend’s selected Premier League matches.

The deadline is at 15:00 GMT on Sunday 26 December.

£100 prize every month in Scout's Fantasy5 mini-league

You can even set up a mini-league and compete with colleagues, friends and family – something we’ve done recently.

Last month, Fantasy Football Scout unveiled a nine-week battle that pits ten staff members and Pro Pundit experts against each other. To determine who truly has the best eye for a Fantasy player, the FFS Challenge mini-league will take place between Gameweeks 12 and 20.

A small prize is up for grabs but, more importantly, so are bragging rights. Below the ‘how to’, you can see which players the Scout crew have selected for Gameweek 19.

ENTER YOUR FANTASY5 TEAM HERE

HOW DOES FANTASY 5 WORK?

Fantasy5 is free to play and it follows the exact same scoring system as FPL, just without the bonus points.

It’s as simple as this: pick a player from each of the Gameweek 19 matches below and, if they all exceed their individual ‘points targets’ (a par score set by Fantasy5), you’ll be in the money:

  • Burnley v Everton (which has since been postponed)
  • Norwich City v Arsenal
  • West Ham United v Southampton
  • Aston Villa v Chelsea
  • Brighton and Hove Albion v Brentford

Anyone who manages to pick successful outperformers from each match will be in the money, with a £1,000 prize still up for grabs despite there being one fewer fixture.

Competition is limited to one entry per person per round. Full terms and conditions are here.

SCOUT’S PICKS FOR GAMEWEEK 19 OF FANTASY5

The FFS Challenge has had seven rounds – here is the current mini-league table:

With one of last week’s five selected matches postponed (Aston Villa v Burnley), there were fewer chances for the Scout ten to make a successful guess. The only two to do so were Tom and Sam, both of whom picked Joao Cancelo before his goal, assist and clean sheet at Newcastle United.

The following players exceeded their Gameweek 18 points target: Riyad Mahrez, Joao Cancelo, Ruben Dias, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Martinelli

Sam (FPL Family)

Ted Talks FPL

Tom

The most-selected players for each match are:

  • Norwich City v Arsenal: Tierney (4), Martinelli (3), Gabriel (2)
  • West Ham United v Southampton: Bowen (2), Antonio (2)
  • Aston Villa v Chelsea: Rudiger (3), Alonso (2), Ramsey (2)
  • Brighton and Hove Albion v Brentford: Mbeumo (3), Lamptey (2), Maupay (2)

With Burnley v Everton now off the table, it’s interesting to see all ten select an Arsenal option against Norwich. The most variety occurs in East London, where eight different players were selected for West Ham’s hosting of Southampton.

    Free Hit a no brainer?

    1. grumpyman
      • 10 Years

I think the value of saving a free hit is worth more than 2/3 extra players. I'd take a -4 and roll with 9. Does depend on the players you have though.

      1. DAZZ
        • 11 Years
        4 years, 3 months ago

Disagree. I’ve seen a few of the teams with 8/9/10 players and i feel extremely confident the FH can be used effectively this week.

    2. Tonyawesome69
      • 7 Years

Depends on the players. Quality over quantity

    3. Qubit
      • 16 Years
      4 years, 3 months ago

Not at all. It's more about comparing the value of the free hit now Vs played in the future. Fielding say 9/10 now with a hit and playing FH later will likely have more upside overall.

Of course this can change as the number of matches postponed increases. I would reckon the worst I'd accept is 9 with a -8 for example. A FH should still beat that later. However everyone's position is different.

  13. Zimo
    • 7 Years
    4 years, 3 months ago

I've decided to do my transfers. If more matches are cancelled I'll have to free hit anyways. I'd rather not stress about it till then. Mental health over this game!

    1. Tonyawesome69

If he was normal player, he would be easy sell now. But he is probably the best C option vs Lei. This means that we have to calculate that match basically as worth two games compared to normal players.

Put this first WC squad together- needs to be played Sunday or Tuesday so may as well play now and hope to get out 11 starters and try and plan for BB week 22. What do you think ? Safe to push button as only .1 m leeway? If Arsenal game off then would shift Lacazette to playing forward and still get 11 out

      Ramsdale Sanchez
      TAA James Cancelo Reguilon Johnson

You need a playing gk in that case. Gunners have fixture change to sour, wouldn't pick any other asset than Ramsdale (and him only with Lloris or DdG). Yet, no point to save WC any longer imo.

If Arsenal game is postponed, playing FH instead of taking hits becomes an option to think about. Yet, there are still so many unknowns, that even -12 could be the correct move.

That's tough. Would wait until the last minute first though. Both have merit.

I don't think this is worth a FH. Right?

      Sanchez
      Cancelo James White Livra
      Bowen Gallagher ESR
      Antonio Watkins Toney

No bench, 2 FTs, 2.8 itb. Can certainly be fixed without the chip is my thinking. Yay or nay?

No need for FH but who would you remove for the 2FT?

Toney, Livra, or maybe a mid for Martinelli.

Any ideas what to do? 1FT + 2.2ITB.

      Ramsdale
      TAA* Cancelo James Rudiger
      Salah* Foden Jota* BSilva Gallagher
      Watkins

      Foster King* Livra Gelhardt*

Thinking Salah + King + Foden to Son + Ronaldo + Gray -8pts?

Foden over BSilva as 0.1m short

Now that's a spicy transfer suite i can get behind! Sucks for the -8 but more will be taking hits now, plus you figure you'll be making hay on that trio surely.

Prefer Arsenal mid for Norwich over Gray. But if i was selling Salah, that's pretty close to what i would do.

My cup opponents team looked awful, was a sure win for me. Now after the postponements his team looks better than mine.
