Qualifying for our second Premium Members cup competition took place in Gameweek 30.

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers who registered their teams and scored 43 points or more (after hits) in the Gameweek just gone qualified for round one of the FFS Members Cup, while those who scored exactly 42 only progressed if their overall rank was 226,846th or better.

Two of our former winners, Mohd Rodzi and Scrumper, also submitted entry forms and were handed a bye to the first round, although would have qualified regardless.

A total of £300-worth of prizes is on offer as usual in this tournament, with a full breakdown towards the bottom of this article.

FIRST ROUND DRAW

The full draw for the first round can be viewed here.

Our two former winners are having great seasons again and are both currently sitting within the top 5,000. Mohd Rodzi (2,545th) will face the Chaser (879,361st) – the sixth-lowest-ranked manager who made it through qualifying – in round one, while Scrumper (3,748th) takes on Cheese pizza (38,719).

A strong-looking field includes six managers who are within the top 1k at present, including our very own Az (555th), who meets BC1 (399,607th) in the first round.

Only one Fantasy boss in the FFS Members Cup can better the FPL Blackbox co-host’s current overall rank, and that’s A.J. (473rd), who is on course for a second successive top 1k finish. They’ll clash with Firminoooo (58,666th) in Gameweek 31.

Peteski29 (809th) v Team Tomas (22,601st), Bend It Like Bennett (774th) v teckert (197,360th), Bencaraway (611th) v Vasanth7 (144,158th) and UNDEADLIBRARY (607th) v Ovidiu Lucian (63,017th) are the other four ties to involve members of the current top 1k.

Shuddahaddum (5,615,082), aka the Great and the Good’s Les Caldwell, is the lowest-ranked manager left in the competition but that owes much to a Gameweek 20 hack that sent him tumbling almost eight million places.

BAMBAA (7,991st) v Hobo (9,250th) is our only all-top-10k clash in the first round, while Daitheboot (42,142nd) v QPR Caribbean (41,464th) is the closest-matched pairing, with only 678 places between the two opponents.

HOW DO THE CUP COMPETITIONS WORK?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round were randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a draw, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

WHAT IS THE GAMEWEEK SCHEDULE?

The FFS Cup competition will be played out according to the following proposed Gameweek schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 30
  • Round 1 – Gameweek 31
  • Round 2 – Gameweek 32
  • Round 3 – Gameweek 33
  • Round 4 – Gameweek 34
  • Round 5 – Gameweek 35
  • Quarter-Final – Gameweek 36
  • Semi-Finals – Gameweek 37
  • Final and third place play-off – Gameweek 38

WHEN ARE THE FIXTURES RELEASED?

Where possible, the fixture list for each round will be published before each Gameweek deadline.

Can United be trusted enough to justify FH33? They’re bound to be the main targets for free hitters that week, but are possibly too inconsistent to trust with a valuable chip.

Who are the best squad fillers for a BB in 33?

Southampton, Burnley, Newcastle, Leicester assets worth looking at basically.

Hi Joe, Can you help with the pros and cons of the wild card in GW31 and GW34. As I see it, we pretty much know the order of games remaining and the big boys will have DGW's with only slight variations. Are we going to have any worthwhile information after GW33 that would significantly change a WC in GW31? Having no FH chip forces me into getting a balance pre and post GW33.

I second this one. Have my WC and 2 FH (already played BB), so trying to understand the value of WC31 vs WC34.

Yeah. I think I need someone to spell out to me where the big advantage is holding to 34. I can get 90% of the players I want in 31 and have 3 more weeks advantage.

You'd have to candidly say following international games and pre Champions League that both Mahrez and Havertz are rotation risks for now. Especially Mahrez.

As KDB was rested by Belgium he's more likely to play at Burnley.

So. Fwiw, i like the look of a midfield wildcard of Salah, Saka, Kulusevski, Barnes and KDB.

I'd love to play Son but have traded off for Kane in my set up.

I'm probably not the only one who is looking for a very cheap playing third forward as bench fodder who might also contribute a few points towards a Bench Boost. But which one of these would be the better choice for the purpose?

      Thanks Joe. Two questions:

      1. With the wealth of attacking and good value midfielders and defenders is 4-5-1 or 3-5-2 (or even 5-4-1) the best formation for our squads?

      2. People say it’s madness to drop TAA, but is it really? Are we blinded by his historic performance in the first half of the season? Going by player stats over the last ten appearances, TAA is still quite good but actually sits just outside the top five FPL defenders for points per game with 5.9. His teammates have done better than he has over that time and cost quite a bit less. James and Cash are just as explosive but also risky. City and Arsenal options score a point or two less per game but are 1.5 - 3.5 million cheaper and that could mean serious upgrades elsewhere in our teams. Even without his injury questions I was strongly considering a move to Robertson/Virgil to enable a stronger back four and upgrade a midfield spot.

    Current team is:

    Ramsdale / Sanchez
TAA, Cancelo, Robertson, Doherty / Livramento
Salah, Kulu, Mount, Saka / Gilmour
    Kane, Adams / Dennis

Looking to probably do TAA to James and Dennis to Weghorst - thoughts?

It would mean I'd probably have to bench either Doherty or Adams, but both have a good fixtures - who would you bench?

    Thanks!

    Salah(c) Son Saka Gordon
    Kane Maupay

    Sanchez Ramsey Broja Livramento
    0.5m 1FT

rough few weeks, gone from 30k to 90k. Only have BB left.

    A) Trent to Robertson
    B) Trent to White (frees up money to do something different in midfield)

Current concern is that I have no flexibility to do anything in midfield (i.e. target someone like Barnes or Maddison for their doubles without losing Son).

      What's your strategy? FH33, WC34, BB36?

Your transfer should work towards that goal. I'd probably look at Jimenez > Weghorst myself.

Weghorst for sheer minutes is gonna be decent even if he blanks.

        My two initial plans were this;

        WC31, BB33, FH36

Why not roll FT this week?

If you make those transfers who do you bench for them? At this point I'd keep TAA for WC34. You lose a lot of value by selling now. If TAA is out, I'd swap Dalot out for someone decent that plays. But otherwise, if you roll you give yourself time to pick a GW33 deadend option closer to the GW.

So Villa two DGWs. One in 36 and the other is expected to be before 36. 34,35?

And Watford is expected to have a DGW in 37, not 36?

If true this does change my initial plan. I thought Villa will have its second DGW in 37 and Watford are in 36 like most teams. Any chance this still happens? What is the reason Watford wont be in 36....

It all depends how they schedule Everton.

Everton have 2 games in hand vs CRY and WAT. They can be played in 34,35,36,37.

36 is definitely one. But the other one can legitimately fall into any of the other weeks right now with slightly less chance of it coming earlier due to clashes with European fixtures as well as less preparation time.

Thanks. I guess this is one drawback of the WC 31 I am doing.
I thought we know the games in 36 and 37. This Villa news in 34/35 and Watford 37 is a new thing.
Now I am not sure who to buy as a 2nd Gk. Was going to be Foster but maybe I will need monedy for Guaita. Also no alternative to Cucho for 36. At least I can hope he is a starter with Mateta the .

Yeah a BB of Guaita, Gordon, Mateta and Cucho was what I was looking at.

But CRY and WAT can't both double in 36.

The lack of good forwards to BB is making me unhappy to do it in GW36/37 hence me trying to make a BB33 team.

            • 8 Years

I see. The thing with BB33 is that I like my current team projection:

            Pope*
            Robbo Cancelo Schar*
            Salah Son Saka* Maddy* Fraser*
            Kane Weghorst*

            Subs: Foster White* Cucho Mitchel

6DGW players and the others can essily get more pts than Bruno Sancho Ronaldo etc. Because I know you were having interest in United. Im their fan but now I try to play the game without bias.

Plan was to FH37... and I thought the biggest minus would be if Leicster and Chelsea dont have stimulus by then. And now I see that Chelsea may not even have DGW if they are beaten by Real...

Who is your 3rd striker in a potential BB33?

I was thinking maybe a Dubravka, Weghorst, Leicester defender and 3rd striker with a Double might be a good idea.

Not sure, he doesnt really excite me tbh. Would prefer a punt on Havertz or even Benrahma instead. Mahrez if looking for a Man city asset.

On WC, pick one to hold for rest of season!

    A) Mount
    B) Havertz
    C) Foden

    Cheers!

Lottery, all probably play similar mins depending on how far they go in CL. C as he plays for best team in league in false 9 role.

Foden I think, but I’m also looking at something similar and not sure. Havertz over Mount, but I think Chelsea will rotate a lot in the league because we can’t win the title. I’m looking at Mahrez as well, but more likely short term.

Do I roll, or make a change? I was thinking Toney to Weg...

    Sanchez (Foster)
Tierney / Cancelo / Doherty / TAA* (Livra)
Salah / Son / Saka (Barnes / Ramsey)
    Broja / Toney / Kane

If you only had a FH and BB left, when would you play them and which 2 players would you also sell for a -4

    Ramsdale Dubravka

    Rudiger Doherty Kilman White Keane

    Salah Saka Ramsey Kuluveski Barnes

    Jimenez Kane Dennis

    1FT 3.3 ITB

    Any ideas would be welcomed

      BB33 and FH36

You might be without a GK this week, so wait for further updates on that. Jimenez to Weghrost is an option or Kilman to Robertson/Van Dijk.

Looks pretty damn good -for me

Need to shift out Cash, Jiminez and Son
Need to consider getting in some bench boost players imo and Kane - I think Son and Jiminez to Kane and a cheaper mid (maybe Fraser?)

So I'd use transfers for 33, bench boost if you can in that week

Then Wildcard 34, get the value back on the pitch for 36 and save free hit for 37
