I need Mitro to score against Brentford and then go up 0.1 so I can sell him and bank the 0.1 profit.
    I have plans.

          Did you PLAY him GW1??
I do think with all the attention on how comical United were, it's being overlooked just how well-organised Brentford are. No gimme, in my book.

Good time to go get rid of Trippier?

Would have to play two of Bailey, dasilva, andreas and neco.

Got 2 FT. Thinking of getting rid of Bailey + trippier for a defender with a good fixture. Spurs defender or maybe Ake (though I’m worried stones may get a start)

I've always found Trips owners on here rather pessimistic even though he's thriving in the black and white stripes.
I'm really loving the peeps that are benching him and selling him.
I mean what the fruit has a player got to do to that you picked?

Surely anyone who started with Trippier was fully aware of GWs 3 and 5. You should have had a plan to drop him - maybe for Andreas or another sub for those 2 matches. Outside of those, he has a great run of fixtures and is a great option. On the other hand, if you bought him without looking ahead more than 2 gameweeks, I have nothing to say.

He could be the shield that just maybe protects you from your Pool failures that day. We know it can happen,; he could be the biggest scorer on that day when all have benched or sold.
The guy has given you TWO clean sheets and they're all cold feeting it.

Plan was always to get rid now. Newcastle seems solid though.

WC is not to far away and to bench him 2 out of the next 3 seems unnecessary to keep. Can always get him back

    A) DaSilva (bank the rest)

      Thinking this through:

A - chasing previous points. His goal yesterday due to a goalkeeping howler must have had an xG of virtually zero. He'll not score another goal like that all season - or career. Made a good start but is it sustainable? Is his place secure?
B - how good do you think Brentford are, and how many assists/goals will he get?
C - one of the better players in a poor team. Will he be nailed when Barnes is back?
D - how good are Leeds, and can he indeed keep it up?
E - Villa have started awful - have they turned a corner? Will he start regularly? Is he better than Bailey?

My answer to 'need to sell Bailey' is that there is no obvious standout option if you already have Martinelli. I would wait till the rest of the games are played this GW then reassess to see if the situation has changed.

Was gonna do a similar post about a Bailey replacement but my budget is tied at 5.5.

As you have the budget I'd go with Rodrigo.

For 5.5 or below probably KDH, but also think Xhaka and Gordon could be options. Maybe Damsgaard as a punt despite him not featuring yet for Brentford.

Not much to choose from sadly around that price

That's the point. All this sideways transfer thinking for alternatives that aren't nailed or will only get you 2 points is unimaginative. He's only 0.5m above the base midfield value of 4.5 - why not just park him on your bench and focus on a strong Starting XI? I have him too and will get rid at an appropriate time as part of a 2FT or 3-transfer reorganisation.

If Cash is injured then sell him first.

Otherwise I think it depends on who you want to bring into your team. Mahrez obviously frees up the most funds and gives you a lot more options than Bailey

Yea I think Mahrez needs to go first. Waste of space for an 8m mid. Thinking of getting in kulu and downgrading cash if he’s injured which I think he might be.

Things we all learned thus far:

    (1) MU is doomed to suck
    (2) Bailey is nothing
    (3) Cash has zero threat- like Wan Bissaka these days
    (4) MCI is head and shoulders better than everybody else
    (5) Maddison is good again
    (6) Arsenal is Top-3
    (7) Leeds is good for points again, for and against
    (8) Everton is in big trouble

      (1) You’re being too generous - their problems are immense, stadium ancient and falling down, sponsors jumping ship, academy over taken by City, Chelsea, Spurs, Burnley, squad is woeful and in shock, fickle fan base deserting to City, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, probably even Liverpool

Requires new ownership and a complete overall, which will take years and lots of money. I reckon they’re going the same way as Barcelona financially and same way as Stoke, squad-wise…..

Not a single player making the team of the top five. Their current team is mid to low end table at best. Ronnie will be absolutely fuming this could be the final chapter of his career - would be surprised if he buys himself out at Xmas, maybe sooner and goes to play for free at another club.

On current form, clearly not. But if they were taken out of the toxic environment and integrated with better players - maybe it would be different. After all, PSG are talking about taking Rashford and playing him with Mbappe. Sounds madness to me, but someone at PSG must know what thy're talking about!

It’s probably PR from Rashfords team to try and keep him in the spotlight/value decent rather than going down the dunny with the rest of them.

He was walking yesterday, meant to be a ‘senior’ player, he couldn’t give a shiiit, like the rest of them. The Brentford ran 14km more than Man Utd player….

I think Varane is an excellent player stuck in a toxic work environment where he's looking like a shell of the player he was at Madrid.

He would do a lot better at Chelsea Arsenal or Spurs in my opinion.

Depends on the severity of the injury Cash picked up at the end of the game and whether your team has sufficient bench cover. If the injury and your team looks bad then it could be worth taking the hit to strengthen

And also not sure any Man Utd player could be picked for the England World Cup squad on current form. Appreciate England play a different (boring) style, but Maguire, Shaw & Rashford probably seeing their dreams going down the plug hole at the moment. Would be so unfair on other in form & motivated players to miss out form one of them?

I believe that there may be some competition at left back for Spurs this season, at least for the time being. Sess's first game was extremely strong, and Conte has historically "protected" Perisic. Had he been guaranteed a start week in week out, it wouldn't even be a thought.

          1. The Tinkerman
            • 10 Years
            3 years, 5 months ago

No doubt there will be competition, but Perisic is a class above Sessegnon in terms of technical ability and he is no slouch physically either. I think once he is fitter he will be given a run of games prior to start of Europe, then they will rotate. Hence if he plays 60+ today I’ll probably buy him and reevaluate in 3/4 weeks

I'd like to ask if you don't mind.
              1) why the focus on Perisic over Doherty?
              2) no Cucurella considerations?

I also like Doherty, think he will be first choice when fit also but Perisic looks to be closer given he’s actually getting minutes.

Cucurella is a bargain if he plays wing back, yet to he seen how they setup with him and Chilwell in the same team… I also already have James and don’t want double defence. Maybe James > Cucu would work if Chilwell was injured or Chelsea change systems to play both wide.

Fair enough RE Doherty and Perisic. Timing is key in your situation, so make sure to do the transfer with as much information as you can!
Also, I think Cucu, be it at LWB or LCB, is decent value with a playing 5 mill Chelsea defender, but the double up in your case may be a tad bit too much at the moment.

James > Cucu is also an option tbh, but as you say, timing is key.

I like the potential upside of the spurs wingbacks in that conte system, just need to pick them up at the right time…

I'm on 4-4-2 atm with 2 Man City and 2 Liverpool defenders.

Bailey is my 4th mid, with Haland and Jesus up top.

What I'm considering is a possible move to a 4-3-3, but this will depend on the emergence of a Spurs/Chelsea defender @ 5 mill. Keeping my eye on Cucurella to flip Archer into someone decent.

    2. House Frey Wedding Planner
      • 7 Years

I'm considering it. Thinking of maybe upgrading Neco to a 4.5 defender and benching Bailey until I can do multiple transfers to switch things up.

Think there's better options in the 4.5 defender pool than there are in the 5.5 (and below) midfielder pool at the moment

      1. @FPLMason
        • 13 Years
        3 years, 5 months ago

From the 5.5 mids, you got Neto, Podence, Aribo and Aaronson. There's also Damsgaard that just signed for Brentford. I kind of agree with you in terms of each one of those players having their own issues (Wolves don't score much, Aribo rotation Risk, Leeds having different ways score rather than dependence on one lad plus rotation risk)

Not convinced on any of the 5.5 mids you've listed for the very reasons you've mentioned.

Damsgaard is one on my watchlist and I hope he becomes a good FPL option once he gets some games under his belt. Can solve a lot of people's Neto/Bailey conundrum

Saliba, Fofana (once he moves to Chelsea), Dunk and Veltman are options with Brighton's decent fixture run and generally solid defence. Maybe even Ben Mee at Brentford to take advantage of their sea of green fixtures.

All seem better alternatives than any of the 5.5 and below midfielders at this stage that have played.

Only concern I have is that if Damsgaard comes good, then I've priced myself out of moving to him from Bailey by upgrading my 5th defender

I think at this stage, Andreas is a better 4th mid than Bailey, taking gametime and rotation into consideration. I'd rather have Bailey be a Lavia or a Reed (4.5, will play weekly and get 2s, bank a 0.5 mill to spend else) as a 5th mid than have a frustrating 4th mid be rotated week in week out.

I have a feeling Spurs are going to buck their Chelsea record & win quite comfortably today. Chelsea defence still isn't quite convincing me (hoping they matchup Azpi with Son as predicted here!) & the atmosphere there still seems a bit turbulent. Tuchel was absolutely raging on the sidelines last week & it reminded me how quickly we'd forgetten him rinsing his players after the Arsenal friendly

Is Saka to Martinelli on a FT and keeping the cash ITB a sideways move?

Didn't see the ARS game yet, so no idea if Saka is passing the eye-test.

I’m still keeping Saka, penalties are coming soon and he’ll haul.

A bit early to talk "perma picks" right now but an argument could be made for having Jesus and Martinelli right now.

I think that they are essential for now. After GW8 is still up for review..

Fell asleep and missed the Rashford price drop which is annoying.

Is Rashford and Wilson - Jansen and Nunez worth a - 4?

Hate taking hits, but could work.

Decide after Monday. As you said, you missed the price changes.

7 Manchester United players dropped in price last night. Is that a record for a club and a single day ?

          The ManU noise.
The stats point to a "perfect storm". One of them will bounce back.

United should pick Heaton over De Gea

    Terribly overrated and error prone.

It's the Kane to Mitro move that stands out and that's not fully played out yet either.

Chin up, it's only a game.

Luck happens. Made some very logical and informed moves … lady luck went against. Core of the game. Stick with it, few hundred thousand get bored and give up every month.

Obviously going to wait until all games have finished, but would you consider a -4 to switch from Robertson to Jesus?

    (Also Greenwood to Patterson)

Started the season betting on threemium and that Kane and Neto could outscore Jesus and 8.0 mid. Unfortunately looks like this hasn't paid off but want to keep Kane for captain GW3.

Good thing about this move is it allows for the potential Kane --> Darwin for GW4 having got off my third Pool spot

      No...

But he said he had to pass, didn't see Haaland. But it's not a false 9 and he'll always be in that position.
