Suspensions

James Maddison (£8.3m) will miss Gameweek 12 after collecting his fifth Premier League yellow card of the season on Saturday, while Ivan Toney (£7.4m) and William Saliba (£5.1m) are now among the players on the precipice of a suspension after being booked at the weekend.

In this weekly article, we look at the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players who are a caution or two away from a one-match ban and which are assets are already suspended.

CURRENTLY BANNED

Auto Draft 46

Three players are suspended for Gameweek 12, with only Maddison banned as a result of yellow card accumulation.

Emerson Royal (£5.0m) and Nathaniel Chalobah (£4.4m) serve the final games of their three-match bans and, like Maddison, will be available in Gameweek 13.

Anthony Gordon (£5.4m) and Scott McTominay (£4.9m) are back from one-match suspensions in Gameweek 12, while Nathan Collins (£4.5m) is newly available having sat out the last three league fixtures following his red card just before the international break.

ON FOUR YELLOW CARDS

More players received their fourth bookings of the season at the weekend, with the aforementioned Saliba and Toney among them.

Saliba and team-mate Gabriel Jesus (£8.0m), who is also walking the suspension tightrope, are of course without a fixture in Gameweek 12.

In a Maddison-esque run, Toney has now been booked three Gameweeks in a row.

ON THREE YELLOW CARDS

Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.7m) and Harry Kane (£11.4m) are among the big names further back.

While they’re not an immediate concern, these players will have to avoid two bookings between now and early 2023 to swerve a one-match ban.

WHEN ARE THE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR SUSPENSIONS?

The table above is taken from the Football Association website and details the cut-off points for the various yellow card thresholds.

The one we’re concerned about right now is the five-caution mark, an unwanted target that Premier League players will have to avoid for their team’s first 19 league matches of the season.

Following the wave of postponements over the last month, that is no longer Gameweek 19.

Team19th fixture falls in…
ArsenalGameweek 21
Aston VillaGameweek 20
BournemouthGameweek 20
BrentfordGameweek 20
BrightonGameweek 21
ChelseaGameweek 21
Crystal PalaceGameweek 21
EvertonGameweek 20
FulhamGameweek 20
LeedsGameweek 21

Man UtdGameweek 21
NewcastleGameweek 20
Nottm ForestGameweek 20
SouthamptonGameweek 20
SpursGameweek 20
West HamGameweek 20
WolvesGameweek 20

The above will change if there are any rearrangements of the postponed fixtures before that but there are few available windows.

A reminder: punishments for yellow card accumulation are competition-specific, whereas suspensions for dismissals cover all competitive matches.

Keep your eyes peeled on our Suspension Tightrope widget over the coming weeks and months, as we’ll be updating that after every Gameweek to keep you informed on the latest disciplinary developments.

    Hi all,

    Sorry bottomed on page 2,

Could do with some words of wisdom from the community.

Currently sitting here with 6 City/Arsenal PLUS Maddison and James so I'm in a sticky situation but i do have 2 FT. As i see it my options are.

    1)Free Hit
    2) -4 Play with 9. This does include Neco who is at risk so could be an 8 man team. I'd bring in Salah, Geuhi and Trossard
    3) -8 Play with 10. Will be same transfers as above but will bring in Solanke for Jesus (frees up funds to get foden and saka in)

    Whats best?

    Thanks for the advice!

If all of those City/Arsenal players would make your GW13 team I would probably 1/. If you wanted to shuffle some of them around anyway then 2/

Thanks, KDB owner currently and he was always going (before the injuries and suspension) along with Jesus as i wanted saka and foden as i believe they offer better value.

But i think the -4 is the better move thanks!

KDB, Jesus + James to Salah, Robbo + Toney for -4? Any other suggestions much appreciated

    Sanchez Ward
    Cancelo Neco Trippier Guehi James
    KDB Martinelli Zaha Andreas Aaronsson
    Jesus Haaland Mitro

Don't get Toney, if he gets another yellow this week you will be kicking yourself. Maybe Solanke/Wilson or Daka if you are willing to punt on Leicester. As for Robbo I am still unsure If I would spend an extra 0.5 for TAA... would need opinions from others about this

I mean same thing, Robbo just played 90 after an injury and Klopp might rest him for the midweek game, especially since Tsimikas is a more than capable deputy.

    Ward | Iversen
    Trippier Dunk Guehi Neco
    Salah Son Zaha Pereira
    Mitrovic Solanke
    ¦ Haaland Maddison Zouma

Or advisable to take a hit with 1.5 ITB..

Thanks to his stupid yellow I think I'm going Maddison -> Guimaraes. Ideally would have liked to have kept him for this week and next before getting rid but I think it's my best bet.

I'm only going to be able to start 10 as I've also got Haaland, Saliba, Martinelli and Patterson but I don't think it's worth taking a hit or using a free hit for that??? Similarly I think after this week all of them have better pre-WC fixtures than Maddison.

Rest of my team is a mixed bag, some with very tough fixtures this week that usually I'd have benched but on the positive side have held on to Salah since stat of season at least so that's the (c) sorted at least.

Depends on whether Konate is coming back/Trent is fully fit. Gomez is likely starting as long as both Matip and Konate are out.

Worth a -4 to do Martinelli/Foden to Mount so I can field 11?

Only if you'd keep whoever you're going to get in until the WC or whatever, if you're just going to ditch them next week then taking a hit and forcing yourself into a planned transfer for the following week doesn't sound great.

    Worth Emerson > Guehi for a -4?

Reasons as to why think could be worth it:
    - Means I technically have 12 this week (willaims included in that) but feel there will be some rotation.
    - Its a move until world cup to give more squad depth
    - Guehi might go up tonight / tmorrow, if he does I won't be able to afford the move
    - Having Williams & Emerson leaves me light, I'd need to take a hit at some point over the next few weeks to stregthen one of them

    Hard decision for this week:
    A) Maddison out, Trossard in. Captain one of Kane, Trossard or Trippier.
    In gw13, Trossard > Saka.

    or

    B) Maddison and Kane out, Salah (c) and an 8.2 fwd in for a hit.
    In gw13, Bowen > Saka.

    Pope
    Trippier Doherty Justin Patterson*
    Maddison* Martinelli* Bowen Andreas
    Kane Mitrovic

    Bench: Iversen, Haaland, Foden, Cancelo

People talking about having 11 players like there isn't going to be mass rotation in these midweek fixtures. If Lallana is getting a game then the second strings are coming out to play-ay.
