We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points from Tuesday’s fixtures in our Scout Notes summary.

The graphics below are taken from LiveFPL and our own Premium Members area, where you can access Opta player and team data for every single Premier League fixture.

Brighton’s winless run under new boss Roberto De Zerbi continued in Gameweek 12, as they failed to score for the third consecutive match. In an absolutely textbook performance, Albion dominated and had plenty of efforts on goal, yet there was no end product, like at Brentford on Friday.

“In my experience in the Premier League it’s not the first time my team play like this and we can’t win. I don’t want to speak about whether it’s unfair or unlucky. I say thanks to the players. Today I enjoyed a lot. I watched a very fantastic game. We shoot 20 times, we have a lot of chances. We have to work in the last 20 metres to choose the best solution. We have to attack the space better, to work in the last pass.” – Roberto De Zerbi

Leandro Trossard (£6.9m), now owned by over 20 per cent of managers, lined up at left wing-back in De Zerbi’s 3-4-2-1, but carried a threat, often cutting inside onto his stronger right foot. The Belgian saw a powerful effort rattle the crossbar and was twice denied by good saves from Dean Henderson (£4.7m).

Above: Brighton’s average position map v Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 12. Number 11, Leandro Trossard, accumulated more final-third touches (44) than any player from either side

Their defence, meanwhile, has now kept four clean sheets this season – only Manchester City have more (five). In three of those matches, Lewis Dunk (£4.6m) has received bonus.

However, owners of Brighton’s assets will now need to bench or sell them, with games against Man City and Chelsea to come.

As for Nottingham Forest, they showed good discipline at the back but no real quality in the final-third. They have only scored seven goals all season, with just one arriving in their last four matches.

A more reserved approach has seen them tighten up, however, with Neco Williams’ (£4.1m) owners celebrating an unlikely clean sheet in Gameweek 12. The Welshman’s attacking threat has dried up since Forest shifted to a 4-3-3, but his positional versatility was on show at the Amex, as he lined up at left-back until Serge Aurier (£4.5m) departed.

“Every point is valuable, so is a clean sheet and tonight the boys were warriors. Every man ran their socks off. I’m so proud of them all. We’ve conceded a lot of goals so far this season so the manager said we need to stop that and build on that foundation. In the last couple of games I haven’t been that busy but I was tonight.” – Dean Henderson

Brighton and Hove Albion XI: Sanchez; Veltman, Dunk, Webster; March, Mac Allister, Caicedo, Trossard; Gross (Undav 85), Lallana (Lamptey 64); Welbeck

Nottingham Forest XI: Henderson; Aurier (Toffolo 69, Biancone 86), Cook, McKenna, Williams; Yates, Freuler, Mangala (Kouyate 61); Gibbs-White, Lingard (Worrall 86), Johnson (Awoniyi 86)

In his past four league outings prior to Gameweek 12, Wilfried Zaha (£7.5m) hadn’t hit the heights his owners were probably expecting from him, delivering a solitary assist against Leeds United.

However, after the break on Tuesday, he was unplayable at times, with his well-taken winner capping Crystal Palace’s comeback.

At home, Zaha has now produced either a goal or assist in four of his six appearances, with 16 of his 21 shots inside the box arriving on home turf.

“I took it upon myself to move from left-wing and float a bit. It opened up room for Tyrick [Mitchell]. It made a confusion in their defence, who to go to, and that opened them up a bit.” – Wilfried Zaha

“In the second-half he [Zaha] came to play between the lines, he was a bit more central and that allowed him to combine with other players and that was better for us.” – Patrick Vieira

Above: Wilfried Zaha’s touch heatmap v Wolves in Gameweek 12 (left) and v Leicester City in Gameweek 11 (right)

Eberechi Eze (£5.6m) also impressed, as he produced his second double-figure haul in three matches. Just six of his 17 shots have arrived inside the box this season, yet it’s hard to argue against the value he is offering, given that he has also created 16 chances, more than any teammate.

For Wolves, they are now winless in 10 successive Premier League away matches.

At Selhurst Park, they handed two full debuts to Hugo Bueno (£3.9m) and Boubacar Traore (£4.5m), with the former producing an excellent assist for Adama Traore’s (£5.5m) opener. It remains to be seen if Bueno has done enough to keep his place, but if he can, he is one to monitor given his £3.9m price tag.

“We’d been talking about him [Adama Traore] getting to the back post. He’s doing that now. It [the goal] was the best move of the game for us. Excellent goal. It could have been different if we stated the second half better.

Hugo [Bueno] had a fantastic debut. He was excellent. He came as a kid from Spain as a 10 and we converted him to wing-back. Full-back today. Rayan [Ait-Nouri] was ill so we made a late situation change. He didn’t let anyone down.” – Steve Davis

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita; Ward, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell; Doucoure, Schlupp, Eze (Riedewald 90); Olise (Ayew 80), Zaha, Edouard (Mateta 81)

Wolverhampton Wanderers XI: Sa; Semedo, Collins, Kilman, Bueno; B Traore (Moutinho 58), Neves; A Traore (Guedes 58), Nunes (Hodge 58), Podence; Costa (Hwang 75)

If you have Martinelli and no City mid - is Saka or Foden the priority?

I think Foden is the priority either way.

I've just been priced out of him, but can still afford Saka.

Unlucky, still might end up better than some other punts around this week. Went for Trippier myself so wouldn't take much for that to flop!

Trossard punt a couple weeks ago turned out to be a massive failure. Didnt bring in foden against southampton specifically because of this game against forest.

    Is Ederson + Trossard -> Kepa + Foden (-4) a bad move?

    1. GreennRed

Selling Trossard isn't a bad move.

      1. Eleven Hag
        4 years, 10 days ago

Selling Ederson for a hit get Foden seems like a bad move, hence the dilemma.

It's 4 game weeks to go until the next WC and Foden may get benched in one of those games.

    WC squad - thoughts?

    Kepa
    Cancelo BWhite Trippier Dalot

not bad, but always gotta ask yourself - e.g. Almiron + Kane vs Saka + Bowen, I‘d back the latter to score more. If you really want threemium tho, it’s a decent squad for it.

    6. Scratch
      4 years, 10 days ago

Not bad but it's a 4-3-3 team which will rely on playing Dalot or Almiron which doesn't sound great to me. Salah is fine for a few weeks and then maybe you could address the former issue

    7. Casual Player
      4 years, 10 days ago

Clueless De Zerbi, same as Potter. If u want goals, play Trossard as a 2nd striker. Not a left wing back. Play Estupinan LWB or buy someone else.

We must put the most technical gifted player in the no 10, closer to the goal without any defensive duty.

    1. Shark Team
      4 years, 10 days ago

I agree, I captained Trossard, I saw him being the most dangerous player at the 1st half from a LWB role while Lallana and Gross the way they played were levels behind Trossard’s display

they also need to play lamptey, preferably in Gross's position, his pace frightens the life out of opposing teams

I have just seen a preview of the latest Thesis soon to be published from the Sports Department at the University of Studies. I didn’t have time to read it all, but managed to see the Executive Summary, which read “Whilst we accept his talent, endeavour and ability to score at Anfield (plus the fact that he looks a bit like Robbie Williams), our studies conclusively prove that Leandro Trossard is not a particularly effective footballer. Anyone partaking in any form of game or other entertainment that requires assessment or utilisation of a footballer’s ability should not consider the individual in question” Unfortunately, until officially released, I am not able to provide any further comment.

No Arsenal but not worth a hit to get one is it?

    Guaita
    Trippier Doherty Tarkowski
    Salah Roden Zaha Bowen
    Haaland Scamacca Bobby
    (Ward Aaronson Dunk Neco)
    0.7

It depends on who you will sell. On a -20 this gw & currently have green arrows with Salah(C) & other players with high eo to play. Hits aren’t that bad tbh lol

I've taken three -8s and one -12 over the past five GWs lol

I have taken more 😆 but probably better to slow down on hits now. Maybe give Zaha another chance otherwise Eze for Zaha & upgrade Aaronson to Saka for NFO?

May be zaha to saka or save it to next week and start Aaronson over zaha.

Zaha at Everton isn't a terrible fixture...think I'll start him over Aaronson mate

Best fixture atm is fulham, if you benching Aaronson this week i have no idea when are you going to start him then.
But yes zaha fixture doesn't look that bad, he is playing vs coleman too.

    Rate my (rival's) team:
    Ward / Iversen
    Chillwell, Trippier, Perisic, Andersen, Neco
Salah, KDB, Aaronson, Mac Allister, Andreas
    Haaland, Jesus, Che Adams

I personally think it is horrendous and cannot understand how he is sitting at 200k in the world when I am considerably lower than that with a much better team (in my unbiased opinion). He has all the big hitters in midfield and attack, but the supporting cast are shite and will only very occasionally get points. Chillwell may not play every game and Perisic has been rotated a lot too. Keepers are poo.

It is that midfield for me and the two unknown entities for premium defenders i.e. will they play or not

Story of my life mate hahahaha I am catching him up though. I have been getting 10-15 points more than him for the last few weeks now.

Am I crazy for trying to fit Haaland Kane Foden Salah Martinelli, Toney and Cancelo into a Wildcard Team? The defense looks weak, but if it sucks I can always change it again in three weeks, right? It looks something like this:

    Ward
    Cancelo White Dalot
    Salah Foden Martinelli Andreas
    Kane Toney Haaland

    Iverson Neco Guehi Murphy

Toney > Mitrovic and upgrade Dalot > Trippier not possible, is it?

its possible, but I have serious regrets about selling Toney and I'm dying to get him back

To be honest, I like this more than my mate's! You even have a playing bench. The only thing is I don't trust United so would not go Dalot.

thats fair. There are lots of other 4.5's I could go for.

It would be great if you could get Trippier in for him, but he has gone up a lot and 1.2m is probably too much without breaking the structure of the team.

I do have Trippier now, but I think I'd need to downgrade Guehi to a 3.8 to make that work (or lose Toney)

Why force to have Salah when you wont captain him.

      My current wildcard team.

      Raya
      Cancelo Trippier Saliba
      Salah Foden Saka Martinelli Andreas
      Kane Haaland

      Ward Neco Patterson Greenwood

I could swap Saka for Rice to upgrade Greenwood to Toney.
