After a frenetic three-Gameweek week, we finally have a little bit of respite ahead of the next deadline.

That means there’s time to take our regular look at which Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players are on penalties, corner-kicks and free-kicks for their respective clubs.

Our Set-Piece Takers tab rounds up our estimated pecking order but these shorter-term recaps look at what’s happened in the Gameweek(s) just gone.

GAMEWEEK 11-13: KEY OBSERVATIONS AND NOTEWORTHY CHANGES

  • Bruno Fernandes (£9.8m) has caught the eye in recent weeks with his creativity: nine key passes were supplied against Tottenham Hotspur alone. But it should be noted that Christian Eriksen (£6.3m) was a bit-part player in Gameweeks 11 and 12 because of illness, with Fernandes’ assist potential briefly boosted as he took over set-piece duties in the Dane’s absence. Eriksen duly returned to the Manchester United starting XI against Chelsea on Saturday and took all four of his side’s corners. Fernandes still created plenty from open play, it should be said.
  • Not just handed a chance to impress at left-back in Gameweeks 12 and 13, bargain-bin FPL defender Hugo Bueno (£3.9m) also took three of Wolves’ corners in Sunday’s clash with Leicester City. The concern now, of course, is whether caretaker boss Steve Davis makes any changes to his backline after a 4-0 thumping by the Foxes, although Bueno was arguably the pick of the back four in Gameweek 13.
  • Despite Willian‘s (£5.5m) return to the Fulham team in Gameweek 12, Andreas Pereira (£4.6m) retained the vast majority of the Cottagers’ set plays. He took 16 corners or indirect free-kicks to the Brazilian’s one in the last two matches, finding a team-mate with half of them and claiming an assist from a corner against Leeds United on Sunday. Very nearly 70% of Pereira’s expected assists (xA) total this season has come via dead-ball situations, so keeping those responsibilities is key.
  • Having taken just two corners in his first seven appearances of the season, the cut-price Leon Bailey (£4.6m) has now delivered eight corner-kicks in his last four run-outs. He also took his first direct free-kick of the season in the last week. While fitness remains an ongoing concern, it’ll be interesting to see if he now comes back into the Fantasy thinking as the shackles of Steven Gerrard are removed.
  • As mentioned in Saturday’s Scout Notes, Gameweek 13 was the first time this season that Manchester City had won a spot-kick with both Erling Haaland (£12.2m) and erstwhile first-choice Riyad Mahez (£7.5m) on the field. It was Haaland who stepped up to score after Bernardo Silva (£6.9m) had been felled.
  • There were no surprises elsewhere when it came to spot-kicks, with all of the takers in Gameweeks 11-13 either first in line for their respective clubs or second and deputising for the absent regular taker.
  • Harry Kane (£11.5m) scored again from a corner-kick situation in Gameweek 13. Almost a third of his total expected goals (xG) tally this season has come from free-kicks and corners. No other Premier League player has a higher xG from set plays (2.01).

    Considering the following, thoughts?

    1) Salah Toney to Saka/Bruno Kane -4
    2) Upgrade def and bench Castagne
    3) Salah or Zaha to Saka
    4) 2 and 3 for a hit

    Guaita
    Cancelo/Trippier/Castagne
    Salah/Foden/Zaha/Martineli
    Haaland/Toney/Mitro

    Iversen/Pereira/Neco/Emerson

I am in similar situation with defenders. Do not want to sell Justin (of course in hindsight would prefer Castagne in my gw9 wc 😀 ) and need a defender for this gw.

Probably doing Estupinan -> White with one ft and just play Pereira as 8th attacking player.

Zouma has good games after ManU, so not sure that is a priority. Could swap him for Gabriel of course, bu Arsenal seem to not like clean sheets

The team looks good, you've still got Bowen to go in fairness. Think you've been unlucky this week.

      - Foden, Martinelli, Cancelo, Trippier, Haaland, Mitro are in pretty much all teams
      - Saka is in most

That leaves 4 players to try and be a bit creative around, Bowen and Salah are the main two you need to have delivering, Bowen's got a good GW15/16, so I'd wait to see what Salah does this next gameweek, then use 2 FT to try and capitalise on the last couple.

The home game against Leeds is the only thing that is preventing me from selling Salah. Problem is that without Thiago their attack isn't creating enough, and if Nunez is back he will become the focal point again.
So I'm considering a swap for Kane, but that means another hit

Good to go for next GW?

Aside from debating to start Guehi vs Castagne, I think I'll hold the transfer.

    Pope
    Cancelo - Trippier - Guehi
    Salah - Foden - Martinelli - Rashford
    Haaland - Wilson - Mitrovic

    Iverse - Andreas - Castagne - Williams

I was considering Gabriel for Guehi but I think I'll just chance it this gameweek and hope to get lucky with 6 points from him, I'll then use the 2FT next week to attack the last couple. I think between Castagne and Williams I can get a decent back three in the last two.

Agreed re: Gomez, Saturday was a reminder of how hot and cold he is. I understood Matip was out for a while but Konate could be back soon. Probably Dalot or Williams at this rate I think.

Well, this was easily the worst week of my FPL career. -26 points on changing a simple FT when I could have just rolled.

Had planned Wilson>Darwin the entire time regardless of Darwin's injury (Trossard would have been first on bench), was unfortunate enough to receive news that Darwin was out just before the deadline........pulled the trigger on a tragic Trossard>Salah(c), Kane>Jesus hit that alone cost me 26 points.......lol.....starting Doherty instead of Justin for no good reason cost me another 5, and as a final stomach punch as a Kepa+Shaw owner the late late drama resulted in a 10 point loss (0-0 had Kepa on 3 BPS and Shaw 2 BPS). -41 points.

Horrible week, doubled my rank (could still get worse) from 180k. Got sucked in to fear of Salah and ditched Kane for a hit, felt wrong at the time.

    Team looks ok though.

    Salah Foden Martinelli Zaha
    Haaland Toney Mitrovic

    Iversen Andreas Guehi Williams

How different could it have been in the Spurs Newcastle game.
    Minute 52 to minute 54:
Pope on 8 points. Trippier on 7 points Wilson on 8 points with a clean sheet coming.
Minute 52 VAR for a penalty knocked back for Newcastle. (Another 6 points for Wilson maybe)
Minute 54 the ball comes off a Spurs player's shoulder to put Kane off side. VAR ignored it.. It cost 2 clean sheets, some bonus and another 2 yellow cards for Newcastle.
2 defining minutes and the 3 got 9 points instead of 30 points.
Many in the same boat as me I expect.
With Foden coming on and choosing Pope over Ward another 17 points went missing!

Very difficult. I've nearly lost patience with Zaha but they've a home game next so think I'll hold him this week. Maybe Rashford?

    Hey guys!!!!

my team for next week currently is:

    Raya/ Iversen

Van Djik Tripper Cancelo/ Doherty Tarkowski
    Salah Zaha Foden Martinelli/ Andreas
    Scamacca Solanke Haaland

    (0.2 itb 1ft)

I'm unsure who to bring in from the below, I have several options:

    1. Van Djik and Salah to Gabriel and Saka for -4
    2. Scamacca to Mitrovic for free (if Scamacca blanks again tonight)
    3. Van Djik to Gabriel for free
    4. Doherty to a 3.9 to gain some cash
    5. Other?

    thanks alot guys!!!!!

Looking to switch out Billing ideally for a mid who had decent 3 fixtures (debating saka but have marti and not keen on two ARS v CHE)

Trossard...? Yes they have CHE but two following games look good (WOL, AVL) and Trossard can score against the big 4...

    Thoughts or alternatives?

Sometimes doing nothing is the best option.
I took 2 hits to get Martinelli Foden (3 pts together) in place of Trossard and Maddison (15pts)
    It costed me 20points …

I planned to do Bowen to Saka (Have Martinelli and Gabriel), but keeping Bowen benched this week and playing Andreas. The Chelsea fixture and Forest defence upturn has put me off triple Arsenal

My team is almost bench boost worthy this week...

    Is this the optimal lineup?

    Kepa
    Cancelo Trippier Dier
    Salah Foden Martinelli Almiron
    Haaland Jesus Mitrovic
    (Iversen Zaha Gomez Williams)

There's like 99% chance I roll this week considering the strength of my bench. Any injuries from UCL games and I don't even care. They could even be welcome haha.

Genuinely think I must play Almiron this week. Could even bench Foden or Mitro...

Very strong! Maybe benching Mitro in your case, I could see Newcastle putting quite a few past Villa.

    Current team for next week

    Pope
    Trippier, Cancelo, Andersen
    Salah, Foden, Zaha, Martinelli
    Haaland (C), Mitro, Wilson

    Ward, Andreas, Guehi, Williams

    1FT and £1.9m ITB

Could roll but feel 2 Arsenal players for Forset at home should be the minimum

    1. Guehi to White (low ceiling)
    2. Zaha to Saka (Zaha has a home game so would rather keep him)
    3. Mitro to Jesus (4 yellows and Mitro is still pretty consistent but has a couple of tougher games coming up)

I assume you've got Trippier. The money is probably better used elsewhere in the team.
