£500 was up for grabs in our World Cup Predictor game – and we now reveal which Premium Member of Fantasy Football Scout has scooped the jackpot. Or should we say ‘Members’, plural…

Ahead of Qatar 2022, subscribers were asked to predict everything from the correct scores of the tournament games to the Golden Boot winner.

The two most successful predictors were Qprcaribbean and Dannymufc, who both racked up 110 points.

They now share the jackpot, getting £250 each – congratulations to those two!

Our winners should contact az@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk to claim their prize.

    This may be a noob questions, but what are the drawbacks of confirming transfers now and making changes?
    Is there a difference between unlimited transfers and a WC?

    Thanks.

      Because its not technically a WC, transfers made now will count against your OR (for tied scores)

      The main drawback is losing team value. Say for example you bought Martinelli at 6.0 and now he's 6.8, you could sell him at 6.4 making a 0.4 profit but if at deadline day you decided you want him back, you'd have to get him at 6.8 and not the 6.4 you sold him for losing 0.4 and thus it would have been better to just keep him rather than toying around by selling him and buying him back.
      In terms of wildcard and unlimited transfers there's not much difference other than team value really for various teams and the fact that prices are locked.

      Wilson's perennial fitness issues will almost certainly mean he misses a few games. I would like a slightly stronger bench personally to manage these gaps, but I think he's an excellent pick nonetheless. Foden could give you the same kind of issues, and I'm so over Zaha, but the rest looks good

        Agree don’t go Wilson. You need players who will play most minutes over the Christmas games. Concerned about his fitness record. Same for Martial. Almiron much better pick and better than Zaha

        So this is actually my pre-World Cup team. I think a lot of people are doing overhauls for the sake of it and I think my current team will still I'd had Wilson for weeks before his hattrick and he saved me in some GWs.

        Zaha I am 50-50 on but he is the same as Wilson. In weeks where my others players have blanked, he has sprung up and got returns. Two good matches ahead. Will probably blank both and then get a hattrick the following match knowing my luck.

        Yeah Foden was annoying me before the break. Stopped playing for a few GWs. Not sure who else to bring in though.

    Thoughts on this? I know - very template...

    Kepa
    Cancelo Trippier James Dalot
    KDB Martinelli Zaha Almiron
    Kane Haaland

    Ward White Andreas Archer

    0.5itb

    I did some quick maths (ownership of the above players divided by 15 to calculate the average ownership). Turns out my team has an average ownership of just over 30%. So out of 10 FPL players, 3 are likely to have my team.

    Already considering some possible transfers in the first few weeks, dependent on which teams and players are on form;
    Zaha --> Rashford
    Almiron --> Mac Allister
    Kane --> Darwin

    1. The Mentaculus
      • 5 Years

      Some dodgy maths there (30% having your team). Check here for a more accurate %:

        I did ownership based on the official FPL PL site (when you swipe to list view on FPL you can see ownership figures).

        But besides that is the team ok?

        1. The Mentaculus
          • 5 Years
          3 years, 6 months ago

          Not a huge fan of Zaha but yeah all good otherwise. My point about checking ownership combos is that your exact team will very likely only be shared with less than 1% of players, so you don't need to force the differentials as much as you think

      The following combination contains ten of the eleven most owned players overall (I have omitted Jesus).
      They all have over 33% ownership overall, but the combination is only owned by 0.1% overall according to livefpl.

      Ward
      Trippier, Cancelo, Saliba
      Martinelli, Almiron, De Bruyne, Salah, Trossard
      Haaland.

      The following combination all have (or had) over 32% ownership by livefpl's elite sample, but the combination is (or was) only owned by 1.2% of the elite sample according to livefpl, and some of them may be bench players.

      Ward
      Trippier, Cancelo, N.Williams
      Martinelli, Salah, Zaha, Andreas, Foden
      Haaland, Solanke

      I think Toney's point to prove is an off-pitch one at the moment. I wonder if Spurs are going to be really underprepared & a bit crap with a few absentees & late returners

      1. Old Bull

        If Brentford’s friendly is anything to go by I don’t think Toney will see it that way. Good point about Spurs though. This break in the fixtures could really screw up a lot of the previous form.

      It’s a really interesting dilemma. He might come back all guns blazing to prove a point or he could return feeling low on confidence. I suspect the former will be true but I’ve sold him this week to take a foolhardy punt on Toney. I’ll get him back in time for the double if he’s looking ok.

      Honestly it would be madness in my opinion. He is like Trent from the last couple of years.

      Yes it sucks that you don't get his points as everyone has him, but we look extremely solid at the back, he is absolutely deadly from set pieces, he puts in a lot of crosses from open play and he is talismanic for us.

    Are we being too quick to award a coveted midfield spot to Martinelli? He is in 95% of drafts, poor fixtures, no Jesus, Arsenal could be a completed different beast now, this is like a completely new season now.

      Its a fair point. I have thought about leaving out Arsenal attack entirely for a few weeks til the fixtures improve. But at the moment I'm sticking with him, although in a deep squad where I may rotate him once or twice if their attack isn't quite clicking in the same way. I do expect the absence of Jesus' pressing work to have a detrimental effect on all the mids, but its just a question of how much

    3. Arteta

      It's not like a completely new season by any means. This is wishful thinking, because maybe you just want to see Arsenal falling apart. We won't suddenly turn into Huddersfield Town.

      Yeah the threat of a ban is probably going to keep him kind of differential. I guess you could just deal with it when it happens, but I'm not too sure of the procedure/timeframe & my understanding of the situation is that a long suspension is very likely

          Nope. I've tried but can't find any recent news on it. He was charged and given until 24 November to reply

    Hi

    Does anyone know how long Chilwell is out for?

    Reason I ask is I'm considering Cucurella for the restart - not seen him in many drafts.

      Fofana at 4.3 more appealing (if fit)

    Check this out, Haaland, KDB and Salah. Solid defence but no ‘premium’ defender.

    Kepa Ward
    Trips Walker Dalot White Bueno
    KDB Salah Rashford Almiron Andreas
    Haaland Darwin Mitro

    Chasing, so lower ownership, points chasing for me.

    Current draft. Big calls are no Kepa, Cancelo, Trippier or KDB.

    Ederson
    Robertson Walker James
    Salah Kulu Rashford Martinelli
    Haaland Darwin Mitro

    Ward White Patterson Andreas

    £0.7 in the bank but could go Robertson to TAA.

      Its still quite template tbh, except Robbo & Walker. I wouldn't call it a "low ownership" chasing team exactly

        Would rather bet against Rashford/Mitrovic/Salah rather than Trippier if this is your strategy

    Just realised that there are 2 DGWs coming for Haaland and a chip called "TC" available
