We have chosen our best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Gameweek 26.

As ever, we are limited to £83.0m for our first XI. And, after a reader vote ahead of 2022/23, an overall price cap of £100.0m is in place for our 15-man squad, too.

GOALKEEPER

FPL review: Kepa hauls again but James misses out on clean sheet 2

Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.7m) is our chosen goalkeeper in Gameweek 26. The Spaniard is averaging 6.0 points per start at home this season and hosts a Leeds United side who have failed to score in five of their last eight matches in all competitions. Goals have been hard to come by for Chelsea since the restart, but their defence has been solid, allowing just 1.04 expected goals (xG) per game from Gameweek 17 onwards.

DEFENDERS

FPL Gameweek 15 differentials: Estupinan among three budget picks

Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes (£5.2m) kept two clean sheets in Double Gameweek 25, earning 15 FPL points. The Brazilian has the highest xG tally of all FPL defenders across the season and could potentially profit at both ends of the pitch at home to Bournemouth. That’s because Gary O’Neil’s side have conceded the most attempts from set pieces in 2022/23 and scored just one goal in their previous five away contests. As for The Gunners, they have kept 11 clean sheets in 25 Premier League games – and seven of those have come in matches against teams ranked from 12th to 20th.

Pervis Estupinan (£4.7m) was a consensus pick among the Scout Squad panel. He’s become an influential figure in Roberto De Zerbi’s 4-2-3-1 formation and has established a good understanding with Moises Caicedo (5.0m) and Kaoru Mitoma (£5.3m) down Brighton and Hove Albion’s left side. The full-back missed the midweek FA Cup win over Stoke City but has since been passed fit, making him a savvy pick against a West Ham United outfit with just one away win all season.

While Aston Villa’s underlying defensive stats don’t fill us with much hope, a nice home fixture against Crystal Palace sees budget defender Tyrone Mings (£4.3m) included. The Eagles have still only scored one goal from open play in their last 11 matches and have managed just 48 shots across their previous six, the lowest in the league in that period. They have also been at the wrong end of the table for chances conceded from set pieces all season, so Mings may not get a better opportunity to open his account in 2022/23.

COMMUNITY CHAMPION

Each week, a member of the Fantasy Football Scout community takes on the Scout Picks.

The community member who beats our team by the largest margin will win a £100 Amazon voucher and a place in our Moderators and Contributors League for the following season.

Boleyn Boy’s 81-54 victory in Gameweek 6 gave them the biggest win (27 points difference) of 2022/23 so far.

Our champion this week is Could get Messi who has gone for the following: Ederson; Royal, Chilwell, Zinchenko; Mac Allister, Fernandes, Martinelli, Salah, Trossard; Toney, Kane (c)

Surely this week. Gives you an extra FT and lets you better avoid Newcastle/City.

If you WC this week you have 2 FTs in 28. If you WC next week you have 1 FT in 28.

Ah, right. I was thinking of WC two Brighton mids, then switching to Maddison GW28 (just an option ATM).

Brighton mids are like the Aldi version of Arsenal mids. Basically, flip a coin (I'd probably play Mitoma)

Things I don't like in the current WC template are:
    a) only 10 players in GW28. Are you happy with going one less outfield player in GW28? What are your plans?
    b) Double Brentford defense. They have difficult fixtures in GW29.
    c) Expensive bench, and requires shifting funds to afford expensive players (e.g. Bruno in GW29).

Any ideas on how to get around those problems will be very helpful.

    Raya, Kepa
    Arsenal, Estupinan*, Mee, Trippier, Newcastle/Chelsea
    Rashford*, Saka, Arsenal, Maddison, Brighton*
    Kane, Haaland*, Toney

I just prefer to keep WC for later on in the season. Brighton Brentford or villa assets could all be disappointing assets. As often it's also very much team dependent

    2. JoeSoap

      A. 10 is fine
      B. Mee>Shaw
      C. Kane/other>Watkins/Bruno

Thanks. B+C both needs to be done in GW29. It means 3 transfers (-4 hit) in GW29.
Mee > Chilwell in GW28 may solve that. But that brings double Chelsea defense. Another option is to start with Watkins in the WC. Saves one FT.

    3. DARE TO BISCAN

      I think I'm doing WC26. So,
      a) 10 is fine, not many great options (I'd want to bring in) in GW28
      b) You could stick with Ward (cheaper, good GW29 fixtures - might get something, maybe?).
      c) I'll probably switch Saka to Bruno. Madds/Bruno back to Saka later, if necessary.

      1. banskt
        • 12 Years
        3 years, 3 months ago

        a) I agree.
        b) Ward is alluring: no need to spend FT on GK later to raise funds, good GW29 fixtures. But, one less DGW player in GW27.
        c) Selling Arsenal players will be difficult. But, that is a viable option.

        1. DARE TO BISCAN
          • 7 Years
          3 years, 3 months ago

Other viable options people have mentioned.
          b) Sanchez (not as many CS, but lots of doubles to come). Can leave benched rest of time
          c) Haaland to Watkins GW28 - releases funds, extra fixtures - bring back GW30 for Toney/Watkins
          These are tempting me.

          1. banskt
            • 12 Years
            3 years, 3 months ago

            b) As I mentioned below, I am leaning towards Sanchez.
            c) Selling Haaland is not tempting me at all. I will go without Bruno in that case.

    4. gart888
      • 11 Years
      3 years, 3 months ago

      a) Thinking I go Haaland to Watkins in 28, and then back in 30 or 31.
      b) I'm only going to do the one Brentford defense. Just one and Toney from Brentford.
      c) After I bring Haaland back in my bench will be Sanchez (4.6), Andreas (4.4), Henry (4.5), Botman (4.5).

Is it more expensive than Ward and Neco Williams? Sure, but worth it I think.

      1. banskt
        • 12 Years
        3 years, 3 months ago

        a) I will be scared to play without Haaland. But, that may help you gain some ground.
        b) I am also thinking of going without Raya. He is 4.8m and all away fixtures. Kepa / Sanchez is the way I am thinking.
        c) I like your bench. I suggest Pinnock over Henry, Schar over Botman.

        1. gart888
          • 11 Years
          3 years, 3 months ago

          a) You're scared to go without Haaland for two weeks, where he has one fixture, and it's against Liverpool? I'm not a huge Watkins fan, but surely he does more in 3 matches than Haaland does in at Anfield.

          b) Agreed

          c) Why Pinnock over Henry? I heard somewhere that Jansson returning poses a risk to Pinnock. And why Schar over Botman? I fancy saving that 0.6.

          1. banskt
            • 12 Years
            3 years, 3 months ago

            a) Liverpool is an easy target for goals, cue an Haaland hat trick. But yes, I will not sell Haaland. It's not a straight swap from Haaland to another forward. I have to shift funds to the midfield, and then I have to make 2 transfers again to get back Haaland. Total 4 FTs are (-16) points, 0.4m TV lost, and maybe points lost in Liverpool game.

            c) I take back my comment. Looked at the stats and Henry is better than Pinnock. Schar over Botman because of goal threat.

If you can bring yourself to sell Haaland in 28 you could field 11 benching Rashford and Brighton players. The funds would allow you to go for doubling players in 29, odegaard/martinelli to fernandes and/or gabriel/white to shaw. You probably will want Haaland back so you'll need to plan ahead to have enough funds to do something like Toney to Haaland in 30.

Haaland is not leaving my team. But, I like your plan. Good luck mate.

    6. zdrojo187

      A) Haaland to Watkins(you get him back for Toney)

      B) Sanchez instead of Raya

      C) Saka to Bruno + Arsenal DEF to Shaw

      1. banskt
        • 12 Years
        3 years, 3 months ago

        A) I will not sell Haaland unless he is injured or there is a serious dip in form.
        B) I prefer Sanchez over Raya. Just because of two extra home fixtures.
        C) I am not keen on selling Arsenal players, double game or not. 3 x Arsenal, Haaland, Rashford, Trippier is the backbone of my team. I am not destroying that for doubles or blanks, especially since I am already spending my wildcard.

It could do if RZB wants to integrate Welbz as part of a front 2 or Undav as the 10 for some reason.
You can make a case for any of the 3 really, but March is yellow flagged, Mitoma appears to be overperforming on underlying data and Mac is massively underperforming his underlying data. So, my preference is MacAllister.

Currently with James on wildcard. Who would you replace him with? Leaning towards B or D as would bench Shaw this week and he blanks in 28 and not sure I'm keen on Newcastle defensive double up when they've looked more shaky at the back recently, although Chelsea and Villa not much better.

    A: Shaw
    B: Chilwell
    C: Botman/Schar
    D: Mings/Cash

    Raya Ward
    *James Gabriel Trippier Estupinan Henry
    Saka Rashford Martinelli Mitoma March
    Haaland Kane Toney

No one is in Chelsea. Also they are both prone to injuries with James. But I read that Chilwell plays much more forward than James right now so I will live a little. I dont want a defenxe of Estupinan Mee next to Zinchenko this GW. Or Botman as second Newcastle defender. But thats me

Fair argument. He did play quite forward the last game, plenty of bench cover being in wildcard anyways. I'll go Chilwell for now

    1FT 0.3 ITB

    Kepa/ward
    Shaw/trip/bot/tark/white
    Salah/mahrez/rash/perriera/ode
    Kane/haaland/nketiah

What you would change here? WC active 1.4itb

    Kepa
    Zinchenko Henry Estu
    Maddison Rashford Saka Martinelli
    Haaland Kane Toney

    Sanchez Mitoma Trippier Schär

      Raya instead of Sanchez
Only one that I would change really

    Kepa, Raya
    Trippier, Zinch, Mee, Estup, Scharr
    Rashfo, Saka, Marti, March, Mitoma
    Kane, Haaland, Toney

    GW26 - WC + 3.5itb
    GW27 - Roll
    GW28 - March/Mitoma > Maddison
    GW29 - Scharr > Shaw + 1FT left

Aside from being very "template" am I overlooking something with this plan?

I'm really considering going without Haaland on my WC.

I can't see myself captaining him across the next 4 games.

I was going to do the merry-go-round during the blank but it just feels a bit crazy now I've said it.

Really hope people do. I need green arrows. Haaland as a differential is music to my ears.

It'll all depend on how Pep plays. If he's fox in the box then he's going to score. But if Pep tries that stupid thing trying to bring him into play he'll get nothing. He's shite when he's not in the box. Totally helpless with touch and just looks awkward with all the other City players eminense.

Is Ake & Nketiah --> Pinnock & Toney worth a -4? (Don't have funds for Nketiah --> Toney for free).
