We have chosen our best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Gameweek 26.

As ever, we are limited to £83.0m for our first XI. And, after a reader vote ahead of 2022/23, an overall price cap of £100.0m is in place for our 15-man squad, too.

GOALKEEPER

FPL review: Kepa hauls again but James misses out on clean sheet 2

Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.7m) is our chosen goalkeeper in Gameweek 26. The Spaniard is averaging 6.0 points per start at home this season and hosts a Leeds United side who have failed to score in five of their last eight matches in all competitions. Goals have been hard to come by for Chelsea since the restart, but their defence has been solid, allowing just 1.04 expected goals (xG) per game from Gameweek 17 onwards.

DEFENDERS

FPL Gameweek 15 differentials: Estupinan among three budget picks

Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes (£5.2m) kept two clean sheets in Double Gameweek 25, earning 15 FPL points. The Brazilian has the highest xG tally of all FPL defenders across the season and could potentially profit at both ends of the pitch at home to Bournemouth. That’s because Gary O’Neil’s side have conceded the most attempts from set pieces in 2022/23 and scored just one goal in their previous five away contests. As for The Gunners, they have kept 11 clean sheets in 25 Premier League games – and seven of those have come in matches against teams ranked from 12th to 20th.

Pervis Estupinan (£4.7m) was a consensus pick among the Scout Squad panel. He’s become an influential figure in Roberto De Zerbi’s 4-2-3-1 formation and has established a good understanding with Moises Caicedo (5.0m) and Kaoru Mitoma (£5.3m) down Brighton and Hove Albion’s left side. The full-back missed the midweek FA Cup win over Stoke City but has since been passed fit, making him a savvy pick against a West Ham United outfit with just one away win all season.

While Aston Villa’s underlying defensive stats don’t fill us with much hope, a nice home fixture against Crystal Palace sees budget defender Tyrone Mings (£4.3m) included. The Eagles have still only scored one goal from open play in their last 11 matches and have managed just 48 shots across their previous six, the lowest in the league in that period. They have also been at the wrong end of the table for chances conceded from set pieces all season, so Mings may not get a better opportunity to open his account in 2022/23.

Sorry meant for the dgw i dont like there chances

Dunk much better for his double where i expect two low scoring games in 27 for Brighton , maybe two cleansheets

I expect Brentford to concede in both in 27 and in 28

Why would anyone go without Estupinan on a WC? He's basically a cheap Cancelo huge upside

    1. FPL_trail_runner
      • 5 Years
      3 years, 3 months ago

      Simple

      I bought dunk over him

You would too if you see the fixtures he has in the international break and the comments De Zerbi about him needing help and Lamptey doing a very good job midweek at lb

Rotation at some point is obvious

      1. Zimo
        • 7 Years
        3 years, 3 months ago

It's really not. That was just something he said about what theyd do if something were to happen again to Estupinan.

        1. FPL_trail_runner
          • 5 Years
          3 years, 3 months ago

He has two fixtures in Australia

Has been taken off around 60min in a few games and they have a bunch of dgw and cup matches to come

Id say its close to 100% he will have reduced minutes at times or be benched for 1 in 5 say

Dunk will play 90min as his position is way less intense than the role Esput

          1. Zimo
            • 7 Years
            3 years, 3 months ago

De Zerbi has never taken him off once he established himself as first choice. He got taken off against Fulham because he got injured. You're just trying to convince yourself about something that won't happen.

            1. FPL_trail_runner
              • 5 Years
              3 years, 3 months ago

Since De Zerbi has taken over - 16 premier league games : Esptu has only played 90 minutes in 8.

He has been the starting left back since De Zerbi first game.

More fixtures and those two crazy flights and games pre dgw 29.

I think its people who have bought him who are trying to ignore the obvious rotation and minutes of rest that will come for all Brighton players bar Sanchez Dunk Mac and Caicedo

              1. Zimo
                • 7 Years
                3 years, 3 months ago

U just ignored my established as first choice comment. He hasn't been dropped since GW14. It's quite natural for new managers to come in and experiment to find their first 11.

      2. Saka White Rice
        • 11 Years
        3 years, 3 months ago

He hasn't been rotated before though so why would he now?

        1. FPL_trail_runner
          • 5 Years
          3 years, 3 months ago

Brighton have a crazy amount of games to come, doubles and cup matches

And Estpu will have two long haul flights to australian in the week before dgw 29 and two international matches

Id expect Lamptey to get one start in 29 for those reasons. For example Bournmouth game looks a perfect game for De Zerbi to rotate

    A) Salah to Maddison

    B) Kilman to Rico Henry

      A. Not sure on clean sheet for either of Kilman or Henry. Maddison hopefully hauls.

The template wildcard has all the makings of losing big points in coming weeks

Brighton double up in attack wont be worth it for 27 as fixtures are actually not great. Leeds away ( new manager who is defensive) and a derby against Palace.

No Salah away to Bournemouth - i think he will be the best captain that week. Bournmouth are gone on all levels.

Selling Haaland in 28 for Waktins is a big waste of a transfer

the funny thing about triple Brighton is it's both Manchester clubs at home and Newcastle United away in the doubles.

might work out and I like two of their picks anyhow and have them already.

But not worth a wildcard imo.

    2. banskt
      • 12 Years

The template does not have double Brighton attack.

      Good luck with Salah captain.

Selling Haaland is not included in the WC template. Its a transfer plan that many are thinking -- I am sure nobody will do that when the time comes.

Actually getting Watkins in for 28 and 29 and then going back to Haaland aint so bad.

    WC G2G?
Tempted by Saka captain? but not sure as my rank is good right now.
Went for Odegaard over Martinelli despite his form.
Sanchez over Raya. Extra Brighton doubles and prefer fixtures GW29
May go Haaland to Watkins 28 to enable Bruno and Shaw 29

    Kepa
    Zinchenko, Estupinan, Henry
    Saka, Odegaard, Rashford, Maddison
    Haaland, Kane, Toney
    Sanchez, Mitoma, Trippier, Botman

Exact same as me. Rekcon I do Martinelli over Odegaard though since once will be Bruno in 29 anyway, and Martinelli on fire recently.

Tempted but just sold him and lost my value on him to get Saka while keeping Odegaard. Wasn’t until last GW I was worried he wouldn’t even start and very nearly sold for a -4.

    New page:

    Kepa
    Tarkowski-White-Walker
    Mahrez-Salah-Rashford-Odegaard
    Darwin-Nketiah(v)-Haaland(c)

    Ward-Andreas-Trippier-Patterson

Choose an option for the above team?

A: WC to get Kane, Saka, Brighton/Brentford in
B: Darwin, Mahrez, Odegaard -> Kane, Saka, Mitoma for -8
    C: Save FT
    D: Something else?

The loss isn’t against the defence it’s against the midfield spot

The comparison should be your 3rd arsenal midfielder + the defender vs arsenal defender + midfielder

What do you think about Castagne instead of Chilwell?

I like Castagne, but their defence is pretty poor. The Chelsea defence much better though so probably stay with Chilwell. Although think he is quite pricey personally. Don’t overthink. It’s what I do all the time haha.

I think I just want to enjoy the races without making it about fantasy points. Does look fun though.

    Hi all,

I am seeing a lot of people on Twitter/here suggesting that this is the best week to use your Wildcard. Can anyone explain the logic as to why?

    Thanks!

It might be for them but not necessarily you and I.

Can avoid FH in 28 and gives time to set up for BB in 29. Plus capitalise on Bees and BHA doubles. May back fire of course.

    3. bench boost for every gamew…

First the boring answer. It's team dependant.
But how the cup games evolved in the week has played a huge part.
It makes the blank in 32 and doubles in 34 more manageable.
And you'll get the bench boost in 29.
But there are some cons to it. There's a long way from 28 to gw29. There's small doubles somewhere after gw 31, and Brentford which people are loading up on will first have a double in 29 which is not great and after you'll probably want to get rid.
There's a lot of different routes.
Not sure i answered your question.

Why buy Mahrez if you are benching him?

Bought him long time ago & worried about his minutes

So Haland captain or Saka or Rashford or even Kane?

Saka or Haaland for me. Don’t think I’ve gone against Haaland all season in a single GW but tough fixture.

Further to my question above, would you use your WC on this…?

    Kepa Ward
    TAA Trippier Zinchenko Tarkowski Bueno
    Salah Foden Martinelli Rashford Andreas
    Haaland Darwin Nketiah

Thanks. Is it not saveable by selling TAA & Darwin to Estupinan & Kane?

Why is saka so far out in front over Martinelli in here? Pens and corners?

It got really trendy a few weeks back, mostly.

There is a significant price difference, which doesn't seem to get mentioned.

Before the double in 23 it looked like Trossard were eating into his minutes. People reacted towards that tendency.
Now, Arteta changed to Trossard as a false nine, so now Marti's place looks more secure. That info we now have was not to be expected then.
