A wave of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Wildcards are being deployed after the midweek conclusion of the FA Cup fifth round.

That’s because an earlier Wildcard looks much more viable now, with a squad much easier to set up to not only tackle and make the most of the blanks and doubles in Gameweeks 27-29 but even cope with Blank Gameweek 32.

The Bench Boost in Gameweek 29 also has added appeal, with no big doubles later in the campaign to rival it.

Of the site users we polled, just over 35% said they are planning to activate the chip in Gameweek 26.

So, we’ve put together three potential Gameweek 26 Wildcard drafts for you to consider: a Harry Kane (£11.7m) one, a riskier no-Erling Haaland (£12.2m) approach, plus a draft for those who have already used their Bench Boost.

READ MORE: FPL Gameweek 26 Wildcard: The pros and cons

THE KANE DRAFT

Two potential Wildcard drafts for FPL Gameweek 26
  • Six players who ‘double’ in Gameweek 27: Brentford’s David Raya (£4.8m), Ben Mee (£5.0m) and Ivan Toney (£7.6m), plus Lewis Dunk (£4.7m), Alexis Mac Allister (£5.4m) and Karou Mitoma (£5.3m) at Brighton and Hove Albion.
  • Dunk/Mac Allister or Mitoma could easily be Pervis Estupinan (£4.7m)/Solly March (£5.1m) if passed fit.

READ MORE: March v Mitoma v Mac Allister: Who is the best pick in FPL?

  • Nine players for Blank Gameweek 28, which can easily be turned into 10/11 using free transfers.
  • 10 Double Gameweek 29 players, with a squad perfectly suited to Bench Boost. Even those with just one fixture carry upside – for example, Bukayo Saka (£8.5m) is at home to Leeds United. In addition, Martin Odegaard (£7.0m) could potentially be transferred out for Bruno Fernandes (£9.8m), adding another ‘doubler’ to your squad.
  • 2 x Newcastle United defenders for their potential Double Gameweek 30/31.
  • A squad capable of coping with Blank Gameweek 32 without forcing a Free Hit.
  • If you aren’t comfortable picking Toney after he was charged over alleged breaches of the FA’s betting rules, which you can read more about here, Bryan Mbeumo (£5.8m) and Ollie Watkins (£7.3m) are decent replacements.

THE NO-HAALAND DRAFT

Martinelli or Ode on WC guys? Have owned Marti since the start but despite his recent form Ode still feels a safer long term option to me somehow.

Depends how long you plan to hold them for. I think Martinelli is a good short term pick with a higher ceiling compared to Ode

This is the dilemma, and added to which the sell price on Martinelli is 6.2 (so requires 0.8m to step up to Ode). That said this doesn't seem to be a season where one needs to be too prudent with cash, so probably shouldn't concern myself with values.

Sorry I'm a little out of the loop this week, but please could someone let me know why a WC is so popular this week, when it can be played next week and still allow coverage of the GW27 double, GW28 blank and GW29 double, with one extra week of information on injuries, suspensions, etc? Thank you in advance for any thoughts!

Thanks for the reply, I certainly see the point on the 3 Liverpool players. Though I'm not sure why anyone would be rushing to get them out this week instead of next week, if they're swapping Liverpool players for DGW 27 players from Brighton, Brentford, etc.

Because some ITK has dictated that if you WC this week then it means you will have 2 FT for BGW28 to then help get 11 out that week and so the rest of the sheep are following.

Also removes Liverpool for the Man Utd game although of course it also removes Liverpool from the Bournemouth game the following week too.

    G2g or can I use a hit?

    Rash, Bruno, Mitoma, Saka, Odegaard
    Toney, Haaland, Darwin

  14. Tic Tacs

I'm wildcarding after 2 frustrating weeks and dropping around 20 points through making decisions due to overthinking and not trusting my gut (Lewis to Tarkowski for a hit cost me 6 points!) No Haaland will probably end badly but being around 500k I think it could pay off until after the DGW29.

    WC Squad

    Martinez
    Mee, Gabriel, James
    Rashford, Saka (C), Odegaard, Mitoma
    Watkins, Kane (vc), Toney

    Sanchez, March, Trippier, Henry

    2. Vlekz
      3 years, 5 months ago

Why go no haaland if not using the money? If you don't feel it, don't captain him. Watkins has the same number of fixtures as hum till 28.
You will have 4 non players in 28 if you have haaland. Can just do him to watkins then

      1. Tic Tacs
        • 6 Years
        3 years, 5 months ago

I do see your point but I don't really see Haaland scoring many points in his next 2 games, so setting up the squad for the next few weeks would leave me with better flexibility. I will probably change again before the deadline though!

Hi all. Someone with no FH (for gw32) or those who are trying to navigate GW32 without using FH32 is it better to get a second keeper with Raya and De Gea/Sanchez instead of Kepa so there is less hokey cokey?

Is de gea as good a pick as shaw OR sanchez as estapinian? (Sp)?

same position as you, on a WC and no FH left.

I am considering Ward as he has a good fixture in 32 when Brighton will blank (if they beat Grimbsy) so covers Sanchez. Also has a decent 29 double, and plays in 28

Totally lost with chip planning (still have FH/WC/BB left). Shall I just save FT this week? Previous feedback seems to be I'm looking good this week and perhaps WC next week would make sense. But my team feels quite template whilst polls and posts suggests everyone and their brother are wildcarding!

    Ederson
    Gabriel, Trippier, Ake
    Salah, Rashford, Saka, Martinelli, Andreas
    Haaland, Kane

    (Ward, Tarkowski, Gnonto, Bueno)

    Cheers

Haaland-free since 03/03/23. Feels great*. Thoughts? £1.5m ITB.

    Sanchez. Raya.

    Saliba. Davies. Shaw. Mee. Trippier.

    Rashford. Saka. March. Maddison. Martinelli.

    Toney. Watkins. Kane.

*Feels terrible, but am down at 4.4m OR so why not?

Haha yer I went with max 10% owned until the restart post-World Cup. Climbed a few million places since then, but might as well have some fun last couple of months.

Can be sure that this week when everyone is wildcarding that Salah and Darwin will haul, Mahrez starts and hauls and Ederson finally gets a clean sheet.

All of those things could happen. Apart from Ederson clean sheet (Ederson owner)

Commiserations re. Ederson. I picked him for the 2 sets of double gameweeks knowing full well he wouldn't get many saves and a low ceiling, but still feel very hard done by for the lack of clean sheets..

If you don't play WC now, when will you play it? Really not sure about playing WC because of upcoming international break. However, would like to use bench boost in GW 29.

Must be so frustrating for him. Lucky I waited; guess I'll just ignore Chelsea then
