Our Members article series, reviving an old Scout strand called Tales of the Expected, explores the expected goals (xG) data from the last six matches, assessing each side from an attacking and defensive perspective.

In addition, we’ll also check out the form players on show.

Having last looked at these tables after Gameweek 25, it’s time to revisit them again, armed with the latest stats from our Members Area.

Only Premium Members are able to read these pieces, so sign up today to get full access not just to the editorial content but all of the other benefits, from hundreds of Opta stats to a transfer planner.

We’ve currently got a seven-day free trial running, too, so you can try before you buy.

XG: LAST SIX MATCHES

Brighton and Hove Albion continue to put up excellent underlying numbers and have been unlucky not to have scored more of late. In the last six matches, they have found the net 10 times but still underachieved their xG by a whopping 4.95, more than any other top-flight side. If they continue to perform in the same manner, the goals should continue to flow.

On Saturday, Leicester City were unfortunate to come away empty-handed against Chelsea after creating 2.52 xG. James Maddison (£8.1m) racked up five shots and three created chances without converting any of them into FPL points, but their attacking process has generally been good of late despite some difficult fixtures, offering encouragement to his owners.

Sean Dyche has now led Everton to three 1-0 home wins in the Premier League since replacing Frank Lampard, and since his arrival on 30 January only five clubs have won more Premier League points – Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. The Toffees are coaxing more out of Dwight McNeil (£5.1m) and his link-up with Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.9m) could be one to watch once the latter returns from injury.

Nottingham Forest’s attacking woes could be good news for Kieran Trippier (£6.0m) and co on Friday. They have created just 4.79 xG in the last six matches, which includes the penalty at Spurs which accounts for 0.78. They could be without their most influential and important player in Gameweek 28, too, with Brennan Johnson (£5.7m) carrying a groin injury.

However, Crystal Palace have shown even less in attack. They have failed to register a single shot on target in three consecutive Premier League games, the first team to do so since Opta started collecting data, with a trip to Brighton up next tomorrow.

About march, the fact that this gw is not over yet and Brighton still plays paves the way of adding points still. They can simply add the points in the game against palace, don't think there is any difficulty technically, but logically not correct but they can add a note in their website quoting due to late credit given to march the points been added in cp game etc. What's your thoughts guys? Me march owner yes definitely 🙂

March captainer here. I don't see why it's so hard especially when the gameweek isn't over. They had the correct goalscorer initially, changed it to an OG, and now realized that the original decision was correct. Big facepalm incident...

..and to make it logically correct too.., probably should ask opposition team to stand away from goal at kickoff in next match for March to score a goal, so that March owners can be rewarded with the deserved FPL points..?

Not yet the time is it? There's precedent for late addition of points. This is a time to advocate and seek remediation.

I just spent 30 seconds sending the game a note. We don't really know the dev limitations but if they receive enough engagement on the subject they may be moved to action, assuming the current version of the game can logistically be adjusted.

Not gonna lose my mind over it, but willing to have a crack!

Agree but, when pts were allocated, it was considered an og by opta, so technically correct imo.

I don't see how this is different -fpl wise- from getting a jammy toe nail assist/goal (Lukaku comes to mind)...its not cast in stone that opta and fpl must allign if I can put it that way.

Just my 2 cents..we move on.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense that one PL website says March goal and the other PL website says OG (FPL).
I own March in both FPL and Fanteam. Fanteam still have it as an OG as well. I'm hoping for an update...

    Good morning

I'm free hitting, currently on this squad with £2m itb, who would you change and bring in?

    Kepa
    Trippier, Gabriel, Chilwell
    Saka, Son, Martinelli, Billing
    Kane, Toney, Watkins

    Sa. Cash, Jensen, Davies.

I guess Billing and the bench are the punts. Who is missing who I should have included?

How about Billing to Madds by selling Sa + Davies + your funds, is it possible?

yeah, i can do that and leaves me with 8.8m for the bench positions.

do you reckon Maddison gets it together at Chelsea?

I seem to recall he did well there recently.

          fair or Foster perhaps.

I'm not convinced about Maddison either and can take a 1 week punt on James easily enough but do I want to triple up on Chelsea defence. Probably not.

They've let plenty of goals in this season. I'm not convinced they'll score more than 2 either.

He's a great goalscorer, not a scorer of great goals. He's broken City's all time season goal scoring record in this first season and in a new league, with months to spare. Let that sink in.

What's your plan for DGW29? If you're thinking of BBing, having 2 FTs to bring in a couple more DGW players might be better than using a second one this week when you're able to put a full 11 out already?

        Billing is an option.

Wolves at home and Leeds away could be tough for Forest.

I guess Chelsea have reasonable fixtures with 2 at home but it's difficult to know which Liverpool performance to expect. Certainly two tough fixtures for them.

If I make a transfer then hit Free Hit what happens?
Or if I just do a Free hit, do I roll a transfer? Thanks

Doesn't matter what you do first. As long as the FH button is hit, the FT will not be rolled. Your team in GW29 will be reverted back to same one in GW27, with 1 FT.

The transfer will be included as part of the FH, and wont affect your team next week.

Can't roll when playing FH - always 1 FT the following GW

Thanks guys… I was trying to find shrewd ways to save that FT.
So we don’t actually get 38 FTs in 38 gameweeks then. We get like what 34 I think.

just don't play a chip if you want one each week.

or 2 wildcards plus FH = up to 45 free transfers.

        + World Cup unlimited too.

0.1 short of Mitrovic + Bueno > Watkins + Chilwell this is painful. Would have been the perfect moves and I would have got to keep my chips as well 🙁

Oh no, you’ll have to settle with James instead. How painful

Sorry I know how it sounds but I've had the worst luck with James always, he hauls when he's not in my team, I bring him in and then nothing for weeks :/

What changes would you make for GW28? 1FT, 0.8 ITB.

Haaland -> Watkins or Haaland -> Havertz?

    DDG Ward
    Trippier Chilwell Estupiñán White Pinnock
    Saka Maddison Rashford Martinelli Mitoma
    Haaland Kane Toney

Is GW30 a good time to WC? Looks like BB29 might fall into place with a few moves and might try dead end my team into that.

Got my FH and BB left.. what's the best strategy if chasing?? Current setup:

    Kepa Raya
    Pinnock Veltman Mings Tripps white
    Rash mitoma maddison ode saka
    toney kane watkins

If not GW29, then I think GW34 is the other main BB option if you want plenty of doublers. But it would be LIV/MCI/BHA/MUN doubling then, and you only have 3 of them & no WC. So I think just go for BB29

Morning all. Just thinking towards next week, which looks more preferable (BBing)?

    A) White to someone doubling (-4)
    B) Ward to a different keeper doubling (-4)
    C) Hold both and take no hit (12 doublers + White, Saka, Haaland)

Assuming these are transfer suggestions for 29, it depends who the transfer in are. Not as simple as a player that doubles

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 5 Years
        2 years, 11 months ago

Indeed, although I'm not sure who really would be the target yet. I think there are certainly a few DGW keepers with better prospects than Ward, but the White change could be anyone. Bear in mind I also have to move Kilman out next week too so I'm effectively looking at 2 doubling defenders alongside Trippier, Chilwell and Henry

    3. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years
      2 years, 11 months ago

Assuming White has a reasonably good shot at a CS, there's few defenders who I would expect 10+ from & I think you already have Chilwell, right? And Trippier, Estupinan? Maybe Shaw depending on how detrimental you think the loss of Casemiro will be?

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 5 Years
        2 years, 11 months ago

Yeah did Dalot to Chilwell last week, the Casemiro suspension certainly has made that feel even better for now (others are Trippier and Henry + Kilman who will be going too). Not too confident on ManUtd defensively especially given the fixtures. Estupiñan will definitely be in the mix

      0.0% ? Really?

He would probably make my squad if I was allowed to play WC and BB in the same week in 29. Also think he would be in the captaincy conversation next week for anyone in DGAF mode.

    1FT, 0.6 ITB.

    Which one?

    Salah ->

    A. Almiron
    B. Maddison

    Raya
    Trippier Pinnock Mings Chilwell
    Salah Saka Martinelli
    Toney Watkins

"For the avoidance of doubt, points awarded in-game are subject to change up until one hour after the final whistle of the last match of any given day. Once the points have all been updated on that day, no further adjustments to points will be made."

Yes that's how this works, they make the game and make the rules to go with it. A crazy concept, I know

Probably becuase it's clearly stated in their rules that scores are finalised 1 hour after matches for that day.

If they change it now, it sets a precedent that it may be hard to keep in check. They don't always have this much time in the Gameweek/before next to sort it.

I'm not going to complain if they do update as I own March, but I understand the reason.

Good point. Salah in a 7-0 win one week then a 1-0 defeat the following so better to avoid getting carried away with one result. 15 doublers is too appealing to back down now 😆

I'm on BB and could well get 14 with just one hit but I don't dig getting DGWers just for the sake of it. There are always SGWers thar outscore popular DGW picks and the likes of Saka v Leeds, Haaland v Liverpool are surely some of the most likely ones to do that
