    Repost:

    Hi all

Would having Double Arsenal defense makes sense?

    A) Ramsdale + one Arsenal defender
    Or
    B) Two Arsenal Defenders?

    If yes, which and why?

    Appreciate your help

No - Arsenal attackers have more upside

I won’t be doing it myself but I can an argument for it. If going that route I’d definitely be doing Ramsdale + 1. I think there’s enough defenders at a similar price that have more attacking potential that I wouldn’t want to have double defenders

I think this, combined with the attacking options at Arsenal make the most sense.

Prefer Arsenal attackers given the fixtures and their options. I am a little surprised that I've seen a lot of people overlook their defence though, they had one of the best defences (if not the best) before Saliba's injury and they're adding Timber and Rice to the squad, as well as Havertz who is more attacking than Xhaka but is a really good presser

No it doesn't imo because Arsenal attack is where the value is.

I like the structure. I don't love the picks.

Not a huge fan of Son, Havertz or Gakpo personally. Sterling creeping into some drafts now which I like. I think I could come around to starting with him.

Because of the uncertainty at Spurs and because Maddison is 7.5m and will take some of his set pieces. Son is probably going to be in my team at some point. I just don't like starting with him when you have the likes of Rashford Saka and Fernandes around at the same price point.

How many attack returns does Son actually register from set pieces? I don't consider them a huge factor in his appeal. I also very it the opposite way to you regarding Maddison, I think the extra creativity in Spurs attack will result in Son hitting 15+ goals again.

He took a lot of corners and freekicks. I agree that Son certainly has potential to make his price look stupid but I think compared to Saka, Rashford, Fernandes, I'd rather start with those 3 instead at that price point and then pivot to Son if it becomes clear he's benefitting from Spurs' new setup.

Son will also be on penalties when Kane leaves.
I've got Son, Saka and Bruno Penandes.

If Kane stays, which gives you better £8.0M second option:

    a) Kane + Martinelli/Foden/Maddison/all the 6.5s too
    b) Salah + Jesus/Wilson/Watkins/Nkunku...

Not sure about leaving around 2-3 mil on the bench as although it hopefully will help increase team value with the value plays and will make long term transfers easier with depth but the money could go towards a great upgrade like shaw to TAA if I really stretch it, any thoughts welcome

What’s the thoughts on Wissa? 6m and he always scored when he came on for Brentford, with Toney out he could be a really good budget forward pick

    1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
      • 5 Years

Think I'm pretty set on him, for some reason a lot here have convinced themselves that Mbeumo is both going to take the CF spot and be on pens when I'd say only the latter is possible (and not even sure on it tbh), more chance of Schade playing CF than him I'd imagine. Wissa has always been great when called upon so as long as it looks like he'll be playing I'm sticking with him

      He could be great except
      1) if Brentford sign a striker he won't be nailed
      2) 6 million striker is not as good a price point as 7.5/8.0. Your options if you need to move are a bit slim DCL is injury prone, so you are hoping it becomes clear who is playing upfront for Brighton or West Ham or one of the promoted side strikers makes the cut.

None of which matters if he scores consistently till at least your first wild card.

Hold your horses. To my mind, the most win-win transfer of the summer would be Balogan on loan to Brentford until the New Year. If that happens, no one will go without him and Wissa and Mbeumo will be FPL toast.

Maybe not as risky as you'd fear. So long as you know ahead of the deadline, you can always switch Haaland for literally any other forward in the game.

Yeah, not totally against it. Plus with most teams having Haaland from the start, his price may be pretty stable so buying back might not be an issue.

I actually like the posted team a lot in terms of personnel, if not necessarily structure.

A 3-4-3. What was standard is now a rarity.
You also buck the trend in making Zinky your Arsenal defender of choice. Could be an inspired differential, but in my speculating mind, Arteta will alternate Zink and Tierney as starting leftback, so he'd be a weak link for me.

Luton finished 3rd on merit and the season before they made the playoffs so they show consistency based around a solid defence. For GW2 they have as good chance of keeping a cleansheet as any offering a decent 2nd/3rd sub £4.0m rotation option.

It is very possible, but still a decent £4.0m defender option for home games against the lower scoring teams. You'd probably only use him half a dozen times in the entire season.

    Hi all,

Hope the summer is treating people well. I have as yet still decided not to play next season but had a quick look at the prices and already feel people will get burned with some of the template choices. In a similar manner to 2019-20 where the likes of Ayoze Perez, last year with Neto etc there are a few players who i feel will burn and some who have incredible value.

Players with incredible value who are locks if i play

Pickford (4,5mil) : nice fixtures and potential for Dyche to make him a mini Pope
Gabriel - Top 2 defence with decent chance of 4-5 goals a year
    Saka - obvious
    Rashford - Obvious

Richardilson - I expect him to start the season at CF for spurs and Kane to be sold to Bayern, will be this years Martial from 2019-20, people seem to forget he has years of very decent Fpl returns

Haaland - obvious , but i have looked at getting him week 3, since i wont captain the first weeks and Salah week 1+2 could be the play.

DCL- incredible value, was a 8mil + striker , who if is fit is locked.

Players who are template who i think will be traps

    - Brighton players , very thin squad in defence currently , losing Colwil, Mac, possible Caicedo, lots of new faces to integrate, an injury away from a crisis in defence. Bar the Luton game its a meh start , id expect rotation in the front positions + they have Europe with a tiny squad. Joao Pedro + Enciso could be decent value, Mitoma beautiful to watch, not super stats, would avoid Estpu until they get more defenders

    - Mbeumo, fixtures are actually not great, Brentford i expect to regress, no he isnt on pens, i expect mass sales in the early weeks.

    - NKunku, excellent player, excellent finisher, worth to wait till week3-4 to see his position, not super fpl assest if he is a AM when comparing to DCL if fit with pens +1.5mil

I agree with pretty much every point you made there, except I wouldn't call Rashford an obvious pick.

I think some of the traps are in the top half of the list including Pickford, DCL and Richarlison.

Enjoy the game, sounds like you've made your plan for gw3 or 4.

Nah cant see it, if they both start its obvious

DCL at 6mil on pens if fit, was picked by most at 8mil 2 years ago

Richardilson has years of decent fpl returns , both as a mid and striker, if Kane leaves he will be template by week 4

Pickford at 4,5mil is so low risk its fine for first weeks

      Some good points raised here.

Brighton agree, and not intending to start with any Brighton players currently.

Mbuemo, I think he's a decent pick and disagree on your expectations for Brentford to regress. Thats what people expected from them last season, yet they maintained their form and were very solid.

Nkunku agree and in a similar place as you, he doesnt make it past the watch list.

I just dont expect (unless they sign someone for Brentford to create as much without Toney)

And Mbuemo has over his career been a very poor finisher

He's only 23 and he's got a record of 1 in 4 along with assists.

If he scores 4 in the first 10 or 12 games with assists and bonus points then he's doing well at that price.

He's at a point where he can still evolve his game. Granted he's not Mbappe but is he the finished article yet? Attacking players tend to learn their trade craft throughout their career.

Way too optimistic on Everton, I think.

Caicedo would be a big loss but

To be fair Everton have as good as possible first 6-8 fixtures and the prices are dirt cheap.

Its super low risk with low ownership meaning no risk of price falls

..Colwill was only a loanee who rotated with Webster. Becoming a top defender but I don't think it'll affect BHA that much, nor Mac tbh

I like you bringing the idea of not having Haaland from the start. As obvious, as he is (seems to be) we're depriving ourselves of free thinking by assuming, we're picking 14 players for 86 million. Why not to ask ourselves few questions around "what if I wouldn't start with Haaland?". Could I afford Salah and Kane? Could I rotate captains based on fixtures (like we've done once upon a time)? Would stronger rest of the team offset potential Haaland hauls?
As strong as Haaland is, we at least should offer ourselves this bit of freedom of choosing whether to go with him or not.

If Haaland picks up a knock in say the community shield and is out for 4 weeks we can virtually have anyone we want in our starting 11.

I heard something along the lines of: before Saliba was injured, Gab had the better PPG/stats. Obviously, when Saliba got injured, the Ars defence suffered.

Gab would've done better, if Saliba stayed fit - I think is the theory.

I'm also considering Saliba, if I go for an Ars def (currently on Saka, Mart, Jesus). He did well for me, when I had him. Gab, not so much (see above reasoning) - great xG, unfulfilled.
