Enciso as 5th mid enables the following:

    Flekken
    TAA. Saliba. Estupinan
    Rashford. Bruno. Odegaard. Martinelli. Enciso
    Haaland. Nkunku

    4.0. Bell. Beyer. Archer

7 attacking returns in 7 starts last season, started most games, should be first choice, even off the bench can return

Outside of Haaland and KdB, City players really don't get that many points because they are rotated so much.

What's the point of getting 120 - 140 points for a City mid when for the same or a lower price you could get a lot more from the likes of Bowen, MGW and Gross.

Similar for City defenders, not even 100 points from any of them last season

I guess it is about jumping on and off and riding their hot streaks. We're not playing with zombie teams.

Need the season to start to jump on a hot streak, but the minute you do then Pep benches them.

City only had 13 clean sheets last season, perhaps this season will be different and they will get up to 20 cleans sheets again.

If you go back and look at the average points you get per match from your City mid, for most of us it will be low ... we hold during blanks and benchings and rarely jump on the wagon on time

Any one who gets the City mid sweet spot right will be top 10k 😉

Would be nice to have a crystal ball to make the transfer before a haul and avoid a benching

It's not too often we have a free transfer with no other issues or players that we want ... and it coincides with a City mid about to go on a hot streak

City mids sure so hard to get right

That’s where the luck element of the game comes in. No one’s saying it’s easy to predict the hot streak or who it will be otherwise we wouldn’t talk about Pep Roulette but there’s no denying that getting that call right could win you the game.

I would agree, but I think Botman is better than any 4.5GK currently but that can change if Verburggen or Flekken are definite starters as expected. Tbh, I’d go Saliba.

Can I get some thoughts? Obviously reliant on Areola being no1. Non Salah drafts look nice on paper but realistically I won't do it.

    Areola
    Trent - Gabriel - Porro - Estupinan
    Salah - Bruno - Saka - Mbuemo
    Haaland - Calvert Lewin

    Bentley - Beyer - Lukic - Balogun.

    Pickford
    Trent Stones Gabriel Estupinan
    Saka Rashford Foden Eze
    Haaland Jesus

    Areola - Enciso - Colwill* - 4.5 fwd

*Colwill could be any other Chelsea 4.5 def most likely to see game time. Will bring him into the first team from gw3 onwards.

Not sure on Enciso minutes but will be 1st sub most of the time and if he does start regularly, then he becomes an option for the 1st XI.

For what it’s worth, I’ve got Enciso starting atm. I really like it - I’ve gone for basically the same but a 4 mil for Gabriel to upgrade Foden. Like the idea behind the Colwill pick, definitely works a lot better than doing the same with one of James or Chilwell.

There is a part of me that thinks Chilwell could end up being an excellent option. If there was a plausible 4.5 mid to go with this year (like Andreas last season) then I'd probably switch Enciso and Colwill around

    Dear Fellow FPL Managers,

So much information flooding in the last couple of weeks & I know nothing finalised

      3-5-2 or 4-4-2.

At the moment 3-5-2 as there aren't many appealing strikers other than Jesus and Haaland (unless Utd buy a top class forward, that is), so that rules out a 3-4-3. The fact that we have 2 top class strikers that stand out also rules out the 4-5-1, as you can still have Jesus plus EBH and still be able to field three good defenders.

What do you see his minutes being like realistically? They've gone and made a record signing in João Pedro, who plays a similar role. That leads me to believe that Enciso cannot be 100% nailed to start every game. Even looking at it optimistically, i'd say it's 2 in 3.

        1. Big Mike
          • 4 Years

Now that they are in Europe they need strength and depth in every position, although I'd say all Brighton attackers would be rotated even if they weren't. As for the Enciso v Pedro debate, I'd say Enciso is the better pick as he's already played in the premier league.

          1. TheBiffas
            • 5 Years
            3 years, 1 month ago

Enciso is definitely the better fpl pick, but that doesn't mean Pedro won't eat into his minutes. A club like Brighton doesn't make a club signing on a benchwarmer. I expect him to play a decent part in both the league and elsewhere.

Enciso is quality to me eyes, I imagine he will be nailed to start the season

I'm not keen on any keeper tbh. But Everton has nice fixtures from a defensive pov.

I'd like to start with Jesus as well but the budget is tight. Think I'd rather drop Shaw to 5.0 than Zinch to 4.5.
The optimal solution would be Pickford to 4.0, if Areola is nailed

Yep. I'm a big fan of having pen takers in my team. Got Groß for that reason also

Only options right now are Ode, Rash, Saka, Mart, Bruno. The rest can easily be ignored until we see minutes, where they fit in and get over the starting couple of tough fixtures.

Fair. Good assessment by and large. However FPL is never that simple and more will come into the equation before GW1 that’s for sure. Can’t go wrong with your philosophy though here

      Salah just a given then.

So hard choosing 4 from the rest though

Good evening all!! Preferred option here???

    A- Bruno and Zinchenko in a 4-4-2
    Or
    B- Martinelli and Mbeumo In a 3-5-2

    Thoughts welcomed!!

    Cheers everyone!!!

A, although I don't like a 4-4-2. I just don't like Mbeumo as a pick, Mart is good but also a minutes risk.

Cheers mate!! Yeah neither do I to be fair, I do like both of those options in the 4-4-2 tho, another option is Bruno and a 6.5 forward in a 3-4-3

Bruno and 6.5 for forward I like although I also have Zinc. I am currently on Alavarez as my only punt but he could become Wissa. I prefer Wissa to Mbuemo, personally.

Wissa is definitely in my thoughts mate, actually having him would free up a 0.5 to spend on a 4.5 defender, atm I’m on to 4.0 defenders as bench fodder to start the season

2 punts are likely Colwill and enciso (but I also like Diaz). Enciso covered on here every page but what are peoples thoughts on Colwill - bench warmer until Chilwell injured after 59mins GW1?

      Isn't Colwill a CB?

He is but can play LB too… but with Cucurella, Hall and even Maatsen doubt he’d ever be needed.

Fan Team has introduced reversible transfers this season. A truly brilliant idea which effectively puts an end that awful moment when you wake up in the morning still half pissed and a ridiculous rage transfer from the previous evening suddenly dawns upon you.

How does this work? Are transfers before GW deadline not locked?

        Reversible Changes

"During the transfer window, changes to your team are provisional. Modify your team's formation, swap players, or use your wildcard without any penalty until the Gameweek deadline. A chance to experiment and optimize your team!"

I guess this has its perils though!
