Not necessarily. Poch reckons he's not 100% ready for the pace and intensity of the PL - you don't get tested in that in friendlies. I can see him starting as a regular sub for a while.

yea some of my drafts had Wissa over Mbeumo, mainly ones with Salah. I like Mitoma, I had him for a long time last season when he wasn't such a popular pick. When I saw how popular he is this season, it actually put me off him a bit lol.

    A'noon all,

Any thoughts on this? Trying to have Trent, Mo & Haaland makes it tough, but I'm trying to go with bankers at the start before seeing where the value is after a few weeks.

    Pickford (4.0)
TTA - Saliba - AWB (Henry, Bell)
    Salah - Saka - Bruno - Enciso (4.5)
    Haaland - DCL - Pedro

    Cheers!

      I like it.

I'm currently on 343, weak bench also

      Ødegaard over Bruno for me

I've also bottled it on Enciso, so I downgraded Trent and have a 7.5 as my 4th mid

On the assumption that Kane goes, Richarlison and Jackson are just too cheap and with too much potential to ignore. Foden and one of the 7.5s at Liverpool if they both nail down spots as well.

The difference between him and 6.0 strikers, given he doesn't really appear to have as much competition as someone like Ferguson, makes finding the extra 1.0 unquestionable.

Can't imagine Spurs getting the massive amount a player like Kane is worth, and still play with Richarlison up front. If you've watched yesterday's highlights, you'll know Richarlison would not have scored a single one of his three goals against Fleetwood Town, let alone Premier League clubs. I'm with you about Jackson, on the other hand, the lad is class. Really great potential, very quick and technically gifted, could do damage if played ahead a passer like Nkunku.

There are only a tiny handful of top strikers on the market and Kane is one of them - who could they get who would start in front of Richarlison? (Bearing in mind he cost them £60m)

Frankfurt have said they want €100m for him and I can't see them budging when they know Levy's got Kane money. Bundesliga is a dodgy league too - don't forget Sancho had a 20/20 season there not long ago.

I sincerely do not see what's so strange in seeing Spurs spending 80-90m for a 24 years-old wrath of God like Kolo after having sold a 30 years old wrath of God for 86m.

Levy's tighter than two coats of paint mate, he isn't going to immediately spend all the Kane money on a worse player otherwise he might as well have just kept him.

They've already spent/earmarked the Kane money on Maddison, Vicario and the new defender they're bringing in, that's excluding the 60m on making Kulveski and Porro's loans permanent.

Given how Levy has operated in the past it's clear they wouldn't be going back into the market for the inflated prices they would be quoted so they can bench a striker they paid 60m for or when they can play Son in that position.

I know you guys don't like RMT's but I'm bored lol, here's my current squad, pretty happy with it tbh. Its fairly template, but it does have Trippier! And Mbeumo may become Eze.

    Onana
    Gabriel - Estupinan - Trippier
    Saka - Rashford - Mbeumo - Mitoma - Foden
    Haaland - Jesus

    Mubama, Bell, Baldock, Areola.

2.0 ITB, after GW1, Trippier > TAA. The spare 0.5 ITB? Might just leave it in the bank for any price changes, or leave it and do Estupinan > Chilwell when Chelsea get nice fixtures.

    Not bad for 2 itb?

I wouldn’t target Trippier v Villa for attacking threat or a clean sheet. Villa will be strong this season and Trippier is not worth 6.5, not at least until the fixtures ease up.

If you're picking Jackson you do need a viable bench in place.

There's an argument that he's benched against teams playing a low block where his pace to stretch the game is less effective.

With Nkunku the preferred starter and likely on penalties too.

One of Jackson's biggest strengths though is his ability to link play. That would make him even more useful against the low block teams.

I think he'll start almost every game when available. Chelsea need a proper forward.

It doesn't - especially in pre season when he hasn't played the full game, but, he's put himself in a great position to start & at 7m he looks amazing value if he does.

He brought others into play when it went into his feet, but also ran the channels & got in behind, he looked incredibly sharp and took his goal really well.

Only pre-season and was only 45 minutes, but it was the best CF performance from a Chelsea player since Costa (not hard to beat I know)

Last season Martinelli tended to get returns even when he was playing the whole match. I regretted getting rid when Trossy arrived. As far as Jesus is concerned I’m probably going to regret this too, but people seem confident that he will replicate the way he started last season. That’s a bit of a gamble when he didn’t repeat that form when he returned from injury.

He had an operation and found it hard to break back into the team with Trossard there. He now looks back to his confident best, so it will be interesting to see how involved he is. Could see him more in CAM/SS role in competition with Havertz and Trossard, as he has been used there in pre-season and there is something of a wet cement hole that has yet to solidify.

      A. I think I'd rather gamble on a Chelsea forward (Nkunku or Jackson) than go Mbeumo. The fixtures are really nice from GW3 onwards so you benefit from hopping on a bit early and securing the price point.

Yet, if Flekken concedes often, they are forced to attack. Wissa is not Toney, but they will get goals and I'd expect more high scoring games. Good point about Flekken. Out goes Henry/Pinnock.

But I don't really know how your comment even relates to the thread tbh. Henderson probably "doesn't like it" but is going to live there anyway due to the salary he's receiving. He's not looking to fly home every day, whether it's before or after 7pm.

The alternative appears to be a tighter 3 in midfield, rather than 2 holders and a no.10

Would likely be Gallagher, Enzo & Caicedo/Casadei - but I can't see Jackson not starting personally

I would agree, certainly for Jackson.

Nkunku would be slightly deeper in a 4231 but you'd expect us to create more chances playing that way & he's going to be on pens so will always chip in

          1. MoSalalalalalalalalah
            • 8 Years
            3 years, 1 month ago

Definitely, I think having that outlet is probably more beneficial for Chelsea, especially as a side that struggled for goals last season.

            1. Sterling Effort
              • 3 Years
              3 years, 1 month ago

Caicedo would make a huge difference as well.

He'd allow Enzo to be further forward & his passing range is ridiculous, we'd create so many more chances - just hope we can get it over the line withot losing Colwill

Yes I know what you are saying Footballlover but if I already have Haaland it means spending 12.5 on a player I may only captain once in the first 6 weeks. Just not economic for me. It’s all about points per million and premiums are only good value when captained.

      7. Foden and Pedro not nailed. Not really a fan of Johnstone and the Palace defence either.

Which 4.5m gk would you recommend? Noted about foden now that it looks like bernardo is staying. Pedro does seem great value at 5.5m so i’m happy to take a punt

Fairs. The 4.5m range doesn't really tickle my fancy too much, but Flekken or Steele.

Steele is probably the best shout.

Johnstone is an option but there's some tougher fixtures for Palace too, defensively.

If Henderson goes back to Forest he's an option as well.

Tricky fixtures as well but probably a better keeper all-round.

Anyhow, save points count as well.

Would there be any benefit in having 5m over a 4.5m as a 2nd bench option, or am I better off keeping the 0.5 ITB?

    Foden or Nkunku?

Nkunku for me, Foden not nailed.

Was pretty set on Foden but I'm beginning to think this is going to be one of the decisions I'll have to make

Any reason not to have Ruben Dias over Stones?

Stones has more attacking threat now in his new role, often finding himself in positions on the edge of the box.

I agree with this. Traditionally, Stones has not been an attractive prospect, but he seems to relish under the instruction to get into the mix in the box.

Probably less nailed, especially if Gvardiol signs

Disagree, I'd see Gvardiol taking up that role on the left.

Not sure anyone else can play that Stones role?

So you'd be left with all of the others competing with each other - could be wrong though

Pretty sure Rico Lewis can play there.

I quite like the name Ruben. John is a bit boring. But then you will always be second to Ruben Loftus-Cheek, a better Ruben name you shall never find.

I remember when stones was the risky 5.0 compared to Ruben at 6.0 and then Stones hauled In that DGW

As a third striker, I think yes. But have a plan for the event that you need to get rid of him, as his game time may be restricted through competition.

It's a no for me. I just can't see how he plays every game with Ferguson and Welbeck there too. Minutes will shared big time.

Cash or Botman as 4th Def? Seen people thinking Botman might not be a regular starter this year...

I suspect Cash is the one who might not be a regular starter

    Latest draft:

    Flekken // Aréola
Stones Gabriel Estupiñán Webster // Baldock
Salah Rashford Saka Mitoma // Nakamba
    Haaland Jesus // Muniz

I'm thinking of a two-week punt on Webster before shifting to Colwill (if he's nailed), Henry (if he isn't) or a different 4.5m

    Any red flags?

It's good. No red flags. I'd like to see at least one of Mbuemo or Wissa, but failing that, looks fine.
