    Where to spend 2.5

    Onana
    Gabriel Estu Stones
    Foden Mitoma Rash Saka Mbeumo
    Haaland Jesus

Depends who's on your bench, but Stones to Trent is obvious. Alternatively Mbeumo to Bruno

Pick a 4.5 GK + DF combination (4.5 DF will start most weeks)…

    A. Flekken + Webster
    B. Flekken + Udogie
    C. Steele + Colwill
    D. Steele + Henry
    E. Steele + Udogie

If I start without Colwill, I'll probably try to get him in somewhere between GW2-4

My tongue was firmly in my cheek. The real reason I've added Watkins and Eze is because they are talismen. Arsenal will score more goals than Villa, but the former will get shared around with Jesus typically underperforming his xG whereas Watkins will have 50% goal involvement. Brighton will share their points around, diluting Mitoma's hauls, whereas Eze will be at the centre of Palace's goal involvements.

Watkins scored a brace v Newcastle, and scored against Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal & Liverpool last season.

Not saying to ignore the fixtures but he performed well against the top sides, and has some lovely fixtures around those games (EVE, bur, PAL).

I don't have him but I'd expect him to comfortably outscore Jesus, both in the first 6 weeks and across the season.

Anyone worried about City assets? I know most of us are the Haaland train but with gundog gone and kdb missing pre season is there a chance that the quick start of last season may not happen? Been re watching last season's matches and they were key part of Haaland's supply line.

I think KDB will be a miss for Haaland. However, it's to risky to go without him. I've currently got Foden as well as Haaland, as the two of them also linked up well last season.
The first few games will be really interesting and my gut feel is that there'll be more captain choices to be made this season.

Only going with Haaland. But, beast that he undoubtedly is, he is still dependent on service and there is just a hint of doubt for me that the formation used against Atletico will see City rampant from the off, so I'm glad I have a (or 'the') captaincy alternative of Salah

I know it's not to everyone's taste on here, like Fan Team, but besides the free entry bet365 fantasy football with a £500k grand prize, there's 5 other paid entry games. Starting at £2.

£10 puts you in a league to win £200k i think.

But there's some oddities including a super high roller league with a buy in for £2.5k.

The prize in that one is £5k. There's only 1 entrant so far. Hopefully it stays that way.

      Sorry

A £50k first prize down to £10k for 4th place.

Top 1,000 win £10 i think and there's probably monthly payouts in the prize pool.

Similar scoring but lose points for conceding penalties or a goal scoring free kick -2.

+/- 0.3 points if your player finishes on the winning or losing side.

Top 10 win at least £5k.

The top 50 win at least £1k.

        Next 50 £500.

        Then £350 etc.

If the FPL was the Grand National, Bruno Fernandes would be the 5/1 favourite because he's potentially so well handicapped. He would have set you back 12m two years ago after rattling up 244 points the previous season but then along came CR7 to piss all over his parade. Now that the ghost of Cristiano has finally gone he could be seriously under-priced at 8.5m. In fact, in today's Racing Post the chap from Betfair tips him up in the "Betting without Haaland" market to be top goal scorer.

He’s handicapped on the pitch too by the fact there are no goalscorers in front of him.

16.7 xA in the league last season and finished on a measly 8 assists.

Like it, plus he's now captain and should still be on pens. Reminds me of kdb and Son when they were in the 9.5 bracket in previous seasons. I think the only reason he's not in most drafts is the Rashford option

If the PL was the Grand National Fernandes would fall at the first tackle. His trainer seeing him writhing around on the ground seemingly in more agony that any human being is capable of standing would immediately advise his owner to have him shot.

    Go on then.

1m in the bank to swap etc if I've picked the wrong player.

    Onana, Areola

    Stones, Gabriel, Konsa, Botman, Gusto.

    Sala, Fernandes, Mitoma, Salah, Anderson

    Haaland, Archer, Nkinku.

Plenty of flexibility there I think.

Rashford is in a lot or RMT’s, including mine, but not sure how well he’s done in pre-season so far?

Are we basing the selection on last year’s performance and are we expecting the same (if not better) this season?

There are a lot of other options scoring/assisting in pre-season, just wondering if he’s a solid option.

    1. x.jim.x

He’s been pretty poor in preseason, but he’s only played about 120 mins, and the team has been pretty crap overall. Most worrying thing is him not looking that interested.

Rashford in 2023 was much better than his typical. Before last year, he only played that well for 3 and 4 game bursts.

From a strict, "regression to mean" perspective. He is due to be the streaky guy that he has been.

The opposite is Son. He was a Marquee guy. Is he coming back. There seems something wrong with Son.

I wouldn't base everything on pre-season - I see no reason why he wouldn't do well again this season at the moment.

What do we think the Rasmus Hojland price will be?

For 75M, seems that MU expects him to play Now

I’m not massively confident on him personally - he’s very raw with only one season of senior football behind him.

Saying that, I can see him scoring off the bench in GW1 and rising 0.3 before deadline.

I am not hot on the trail to select him, I just see a great synergy to making Bruno and Rash better.

Seeing a lot of Onana in drafts since he signed. Is this simply because he's a route into the United defence or are people expecting big save points too? I nearly always go with a 4.5 GK, unsure if he would be worth the extra 0.5

I had Shaw in my draft and changed to him to save .5.

But not sure what he will be like yet for saves and bonus.

I hope so, definitely want baps from a premium keeper.

Had Raya last season who was an absolute machine.

Same here. He's the only United asset left in my draft. And if he disappoints, we'll know the 4.5 or 5m goalkeeper to jump onto.

He should get a lot of bonus in that team. His baseline will be higher than all the defenders so when they keep a clean sheet he'll almost always get bonus. Could be 1,2,3 depending on if defenders score/assist or Bruno/Hojlund score. Rashford will have to get at least 2 returns from now on to get bonus in a clean sheet.

Konsa scored a Maradona goal versus Brenford in the USA. Amazing.

But just before, he caused a penalty. In EPL, might have been given a red for preventing a goal opportunity. The foul was not hard.

His goal was a defence backing off not doing any pre season tackles to bring him down. It looked good but was just pre season defending epitomised

    0.5ITB
    Onana (WOL)

TAA (CHE) Gabriel (NFO) Estupinan (LUT)

Diaby (NEW) Saka (NFO) Odegaard (NFO) Mitoma (LUT) Mbuemo (TOT)

    Haaland (Bur) Nkunku (LIV)

    Subs:
Areola (BOU) Trippier (AVL) Baldock (CRY) Mubama (BOU)

Got a feeling that the 6.5s are quite tempting. Trippier can be rotated in as and how the fixtures are favourable or can be swapped out for a 4.5 and upgrade a 6.5 (Diaby?) to an 8.5 mid.

Any suggestions? Any thoughts over diaby vs Eze?

Just wondering why you're going gabriel over saliba when they are both 5.0? I think saliba could be a baps magnet personally.

Also, are you sure Darwin starts? Gakpo is ahead of him I thought, and same price as fwd.

I have Kabore, but I'm sure nobody is planning on using their 4m defender until James gets injured & Gusto is in 80% of teams

This is certainly the case for me until James gets injured.

15th player every week so Kabore/Beyer or whoever isn't relevant, as long as they don't drop in value

Is there a way to delve into previous seasons data? Like on a Gameweek to Gameweek basis?
Feel like it would identify some of my many personal flaws by checking for correlations and see what are the good and bad i.e if or when hits are a good idea, how to improve your captaincy picks etc.
Or even data on previous winners for the same correlations to see if there's a common theme for success.
