    A) 3-5-2 with

    Odegard+Rashford+Archer

    OR

    B) 3-4-3 with

    Bruno-Trossard-Jackson

      Will Archer get minutes?
      Trossard a rotation risk.
Like the Jackson pick but Chelsea are an unknown quantity at this point.

A for me. Really like Rashford as an option and think he's just a bit more explosive and exciting option compared to Bruno. Also Odegaard is much more likely to start than Trossard.

    Really low ownership for Flekken.

I thought he was the pick of the 4.5 GKs

I'm going Pickford or Johnstone - probably Pickford given Dyche GK's have done well in the past

On him currently, but apparently he hasn't had a good pre-season. Scored 0 points last season as well which might explain the low ownership as well. On the other hand Raya is owned by just over 8% so if those move to Flekken his ownership would already be >10%.

Neither/nor. Not the best 4.5, but should have higher ownership%.

    A) *Chukwuemeka, Maddison, Stones, Jackson
    B) *Garnacho, Diaby, Stones, Jackson + 0,5

    * mostly as bench option, Garnacho I would start initially though

I think I'm set on going without Haaland to start the season. Is anybody else considering it? It's something I haven't really seen anybody talk about.

I know it is not the 'optimal' strategy. Haaland is probably going to be an easy golden boot winner again this season. He plays for the best team, has pens, talisman, xG etc. all point to him. It's very easy just to get him in and essentially consider it a 10-player team this season.

However, I've concocted a little narrative in my head that he might not start off the season wonderfully. I think Burnley away is a tougher fixture than most people believe, and Newcastle in GW2 won't be straightforward. City have been slow starters in the past. I'm wondering after a summer of celebrations and a rushed preseason, will they take a few weeks to get going and up to full speed. Haaland being a few mil more expensive than last season also dents his appeal (slightly) in my book.

That's all grasping at straws really though. The main reasons for not starting with Haaland are that I want to play the game a bit differently this season. I've had diminishing returns in terms of enjoyment playing FPL the last few seasons. I've generally played quite template, picked players with high effective ownership, etc. I think going without Haaland may be an opportunity, however unlikely, to have a huge head start on basically everyone else - if Haaland starts slowly. To go against EO, I guess. It could be a chance to get off to a flying start, something I've never done before in FPL. I'm happy to be 8mil OR if Haaland does do Haaland things, and just accept that I took a big risk that inevitably backfired. I'd like captaincy to be a factor for me too and I don't want to just be permacap on one player. Saka and Salah in GW 1 and 2 look like fun captaincy picks.

Anyway, TL:DR summary: Anybody considering leaving Haaland out?

I went without for a while too last season, and it hurt my rank hugely too. I guess doesn't mean it will happen again for sure. I remember I didn't have Bruno for ages when he came to PL first because I thought his returns were unsustainable, that killed my rank, eventually I caved and got him just when he slowed down quite drastically.

Just have to be prepared to accept the huge red arrow if/when he does haul I guess.

go for it if you wanna play different - haaland is at 86.5% ownership - if he really does start slow and demand is there for other players his price could drop and you can swoop in after a few weeks

More so after the CS but Kane has a tough first 2 fixtures as well and I’m planning to move Salah to get Kane after gw2 so not really a huge upside for me personally.

I’m considering not capping him gw1 & 2. I also agree the Burnley away on Fri night isn’t necessarily going to be a walk in the park.

That’s not to say I can’t see him returning, just that I think the potential ceiling is higher elsewhere

I’m not going to exclude him since of the FTs required to negotiate his return

you could be ahead of the curve, good teams nullify him pretty easily like Arsenal the other day, and city might have less creativity to feed him too with KDB's injury struggles and advancing years meaning less minutes, its a risk going without him of course but the same argument can be made for going against Haalland as the ones people make for going against Salah, gl

Having played a close eye to preseason and with Kane 'more then likely' staying.

I did a draft with no Haaland (who has not been in good form).

      Pickford (Virginia)
      Shaw -Gabriel - Estupinan-Dunk (Baldock-Kabore)
      Salah-Rashford-Martinelli-Saka (Nkamaba)
      Kane-Pedro-Watkins

      0 itb

It banks on Kane starting though. A viable side. But with that Haaland ownership I have not got the cajones. I prefer less risky strategies gameweek 1.

I consider Alvarez and Kane. Pretty sure Kane will deliver so I don't want to go without him. Haaland out sounds crazy. I know it's a gamble but you win big if you if Kane (14%) gives doble digits and Haaland (86%) blanks.

I obviously need to consider Pedro who everyone is talking about.

If you go Kane you must cap him, otherwise no point.

Some will say that it’s refreshing to see someone go without Haaland

Not me I think it’s dumb

The 3 bs all have drawbacks...

The bare bones bench might bite and hurt!

I have Baldock. A starting wing back, not much more to ask for a 4.0 defender. I think Bayer is another one that's popular.

Too early for gvard imo, and I wouldn’t want to go into the season without a United mid I have 2

I really don’t get Raya transfer to Arsenal. Surely neither keeper would be happy to be bench.

Raya must be relatively confident that he can usurp Ramsdale as the number 1. Chance to play CL, contend for the PL etc. I suppose Ramsdale doesn't get a say in the matter!

was thinking that, wanted to fit in chilwell/james, potentially downgrading bruno to a 7.5?

Nope, the below leaves MITB for Chilwell IF he doesn't get injured by GW3.

Yeah doesn't really get stronger than that bar no Salah. Personally I prefer Martinelli over Odegaard.

      Onana
      Stones Gabriel Estupinan
      Rashford Saka Bruno Martinelli Mitoma
      Haaland Watkins

thought about this but potential for martinelli to be subbed off for trossard, whereas i think odegaard would play the full games. But if i want to fit a chelsea player in i might have to squeeze martinelli in

Anyone know where to find the season ticker that was on the site last season? Was a newer version than the current one
