Fpl stress is real isn’t it! I should be really happy 83 points with Rashford to play - instead I’m annoyed that the site kept crashing and so I couldn’t do Stones to James and put him on my bench before the deadline! FPL is such a glass half empty game!

Not intentionally - if anything pocking fun at myself for being annoyed without reason and my lack of perspective. My squad is pretty template so I’d expect a lot of people on here aren’t too different to that really.

Football in general is a half empty game.
Out of the 92 teams in the football league, only 4 clubs will be champions so 96% of teams are losers! - if you aren't1st you're last!

It is my view some get the benefit of inside information like leaked team news. (i suffered with Timber) Let us all take it on the chin for whatever reason as we do not deserve the points anyway.
The site crashing however is bad full stop.

Tricky decision to make. I have Stones and no money itb. Looks like he is likely to drop to 5.4 tonight thanks to the usual idiots doing early transfers. The only obvious transfer I can think of is Stones to James. I hate doing early transfers which is even more the case when bringing in someone like James who could literally get injured every time he walks up the stairs!

It's not idiotic to transfer out Stones when Pep has publicly cast doubt on him being fit for Newcastle (which in itself is an avoidable fixture). I'm happy to bring in Stones at £5.4m for GW3 vs Shef Utd.

Idiotic? We should embrace the fact that the game is as dynamic and fluid as it is.

Limiting or restricting Price changes towards the end of beginning of a GW just rewards the casuals and makes it less dimensional.

      1. gooberman
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I couldn't disagree more. There is nothing 'dynamic' about being forced into transfers several days before that players next match to avoid being priced out. The most sensible and correct thing to do is to wait until the team news and all other relevant information is available before making the transfer. This would be possible if people didnt do transfers early.

With the way it is, it just adds another layer of luck/variance as you have to just hope that the player you brought doesnt get injured.

I strongly believe FPL should not allow any transfers to be made until a day before the next deadline.

        1. Gommy
          • 15 Years
          2 years, 3 months ago

          That’s fine if you do.

But respectfully, your idea just isn’t practical. Everyone has lives to live outside of FPL so restricting transfers to one day before a deadline or whatever window might suit you, would likely hamper a lot of people’s feasibility to play the game as it’s intended to be played.

You have to allow transfers to be made at any point before a deadline and unfortunately for you and many others I’m sure, is that prices will change as a consequence.

It’s just another element of risk/reward that is included in a game that is already about risk/reward. You’ve just got to find a better way of dealing with it, as do we all.

    Jackson Alvarez Haaland

        Ya i think he may

Its why the draft above has money in the bank to cover risers (0,5).

Although i keep toying around with the alternative of this to have Salah

        Turner /Areola
        Estu James Chilwell
        Rash Saka Salah Rich
        Pedro Alvarez Haaland

Also has 0.5mil to cover the risers (Only Chilwell which i wouldnt own )

I agree on Stones, for now, but Gabriel should return to the lineup.

Interesting thought experiment from this time last year

After 2 gameweeks last year everyone wanted the following players

Jesus Cancelo Mitrovic Rodrigo (leeds) Zinchenko

These players were sold on mass and ended becoming the template point scorers over the following weeks and months

    Saka Kane Rashford Schar

Wonder who will be those players this year

Afternoon all. I’m loving how many different options have already come up (especially in Mid) after the first GW, it makes the game way more interesting early doors.

What’s people’s thoughts on Sanchez? Now that he is (I assume) No1. Chelsea have plenty of good fixtures coming up. I haven’t seen many people talking about him. Is it because of a potential Chelsea double up in defence?

I wasn’t actively looking to, it’s just with Kepa leaving, you have a starting 4.5 in what looks to be an exciting team (will still have plenty of opportunities to get bonus points). I have Onana and Turner.

I think most people will have either Chilwell or James alright so ya, I'd imagine double Chelsea def mightn't look too attractive but if Sanchez ended up being no. 1 he' be kinda hard to ignore, especially with their upcoming fixtures.

Think it was a mistake tbh.

New City signings rarely come straight in and start every game and he's up against Ake who was one of the best defenders in the league last year.

I have him and I'm still happy to have him and wouldn't swap for another defender, certainly not another City one.

He and Dias will be expected to create a legacy partnership as a central 2 as there are a lot of old faces at the back now at City. He can play left of a central 2, a central 3, he is great as a conventional LB in a 4. He will get game time, and the easy fixtures in gw4-7 are when I need him, when he is bedded in and hopefully UCL duty is given to the other defenders with more experience of Pep system.

I also think he will dominate BAPs in the tighter games. Very aggressive but rarely commits fouls.

I would not consider removing him under any circumstances until gw5 at the earliest (unless injured).

  13. Jonesfromthere

Those who are looking to sell Gabriel shouldn’t be dismissed so hastily, especially if the replacement is Chilwell. Gabriel could well drop in price before the deadline and Chilwell will very likely rise in price. A 0.1 change either way is essentially a 0.5 change at this point of the reason, so waiting until GW3, whilst it makes sense in theory, means there could be a 1.5 million difference, locking many out of the transfer or hindering future transfer plans significantly.

Sound advice. Gabriel was in for ‘security and assured starts’ and that’s not there. Chill well looked like the best Chelsea pick. Going to take a -4 but I’ll be keeping close to the price rise predictors and hitting the switch in the week I think. I slid think palace score anyway so not even worried about losing a clean sheet

I decided to wikdcard gw2 after my bench boost.
Why? Madness some say. 'It is a marathon and not a sprint' etc.

But the emergence of very viable cheap players Turner, Chukewumeka made me say f**k it I will clear my bench. Pochettino has also stated that he will play Chukewuemeka in two positions as an 8 or a 10. He should at least get lots of sub appearances.

Plus Sheffield United are probably the worst PL league team I can remember since Derby County they have to be targeted - Forest attack needed
Also I said to myself if I was picking a set and forget gw2 team who would I pick. Really attack it.

I decided to have the main core of immovables - Salah - Rashford - Haaland - Saka - Chilwell - Diaby And to be honest this way I am not going to be worried about team leaks.

I will have my set team, no longer at the beck and call of 50/50 decisions - and played like a harp by content creators 'in the know'. As injury to the 'main core' will likely be known beforehand.

    Full team -

1.5m in the bank for future changes.

    Turner (Pickford)
    --
Henry - Chilwell - Estupinan (Bell- Beyer)
    --
Diaby - Saka - Salah - Rashford (Chukwuemeka)
    --
    Pedro - Haaland - Awoniyi

    --
I have no idea about XG but I think that 6 of those attacking starting 7 are great finishers and definite starters barring injury. Obviously the major risk is after the international break and European club games etc.

Richarlison was awful last day - he did not get quick driect ball from his team mates, keep going deep - was really just a lamp post. Plenty of other better options in the 6.5m range - Eze, Diaby etc

Not according to Pochettino he seems to really rate Chukewumeka's versatility.

I know that but at the moment Chukewumenka plays 10 and has a great run of fixtures. It would be silly of me to turn down.

At the very least he will get sub appearances if he does not start. No doubt a 4.5m midfielder will emerge during the season from other sides if the worst comes to the worst.

Plus Kabore and Beyer are waiting in the wings anyway. Burnley should do well this season so Beyer might even get the occasional clean sheet and Kabore will be playing as attacking wingback for Luton.

Is there any other 4.0 defenders or 4.5 mids that I should be monitoring?
I am already aware of the potential 4.5m starting strikers in Balogun and Archer. Should they move to another PL club.

The Chuk pick takes up a CHE spot, if you wanted the two fullbacks and maybe Jackson or a mid

I will have two Chelsea full backs gw4 likely. I thought of Jackson as a pick. But he is not a great finisher compared to say Awoniyi/Alvarez. at the cheaper proces

I think I am willing to risk the Chuk pick given the Nkunku injury and his versatility etc. Too good of an option not to turn down IMO - could make an absolute mockery of his 4.5 price.

Jackson's finishing looked very sharp in preseason. Wouldn't judge him on one game.

Fair point. I think it because in my head I really want Awoniyi. which is why I am talking down Jackson.

Awoniyi proper old school no9. Can cause chaos v any team. Plus I remember that run of goals he had at the end of last season. Great for FPL and to watch football wise. 0.5% owned as well. I don't think I ever had such a low owned player. Jackson is already at 15%

Awoniyi plays the three promoted sides at home (Sheff United - Burnley and Luton in the next 7 gameweeks) I can't ignore that. Will bench him for the tough away games and have him first sub.

I think have my mind made up on Chelsea FPL wise - target the two Full Backs (James/Chilwell - and have Chukewumenka as that bargain 4.5m.
If Jackson bangs a few in - I at least hope some were assisted by Chilwell or Chuck etc.

Wouldn't go Chukwuemeka coz it blocks the Chelsea spot.

I think it's realistic that we'll go James, Chilwell, Jackson for their run of games come GW3.

That is three posters that have said the same thing now. Interesting.

Will Chukwuemeka not get a run of games though either as starter in the no 10 at moment or at least as a sub?
That is all I really want from him, Pochettino seems to really rave about him.
At the back of my mind if Chelsea do sign Olise by then I hope I will be on a starting 4.5m striker which could lead me to upgrade him.

I don't really know of a decent Chukewumenka replacement FPL wise maybe Akamba from Palace but that is is it. The Chelsea man seems to offer the most from the 4.5 mid options.

    A or B from week 3

    A) Ederson Trippier Martinelli Jackson

    B) Turner/Areola rotation, Estup, Salah , Pedro

B has 2 pen takers and takes cheap under priced options but slighter harder fixtures (which may actually Suit Salah )

A has rotation potential (Martinelli) maybe overpriced (Ederson), while trippier shared set pieces yesterday and may not play 90min at rwb with liveramento coming in when champions league starts
    Jackson is an unknown

      B easily -
You are bound to at least have one keeper each gameweek - Turner is said to be Forest no1 definitely. Plus you will have Salah.

I think in your B choice it is way too early for Trippier given the fixures. Plus that Ederson pick does not maximise the cash,

Osula played 90 mins Mubama 0. Does one have any intel on whether Mubama is likely to get much gametime? Is Osula likely to be starting most games for Shef?

Definitely want Chilwell before the price rises, which means getting rid of one of my 3 defenders: TAA; Gabriel; Stones.

I'd like to keep Stones, and I'm sure Gabriel will return to the starting 11. TAA has a higher ceiling but didn't seem very involved in the team's attacking performance, and without Caicedo my confidence in him dropped (I'd definitely keep him if Caicedo had join them). On the other hand, he has Bournemouth at home....
