Brought James in to avoid price drop, now I'm leaning towards a hit for:

    James -> Chillwel (for -4)

My alternative is to play Botman against MCI

What do you think, anyone else in the same boat?

Take the hit. Botman will get 2 points, Chilwell could easily get 6 (or more). You'll want to make the transfer at some point so I'd do it now. You could use a free next week but I'd hate to be playing catch up in the first few weeks.

Here is a salatory lesson ...

Is 1 free transfer or -4 worth about five £0.1m, or more?

      1. Toon lurk
        • 8 Years

It's not just this though, he'll have to make the transfer next week with a free if he doesn't this week. Then next week his rival is brining in Jackson or Maddison while he's patching up his team. I'd rather eat the -4 and not miss point in the next few weeks being behind the curve.

    Hi,

Which one is a good replacement for Kabore at 4.0? 0.00 in the bank

    Jan Paul van Hecke
    Ameen Al-Dakhil
    Mads Andersen
    Amari’i Bell
    George Baldock
    Chris Basham
    Jordan Beyer

So.... because 2 of your pricey defenders are out, you want to replace your playing 4.0 with another 4.0? ... just replace Gab or Stones instead of wasting a transfer on what at best would be sideways but imo would be a downgrade.

      2. Defochibe
        • 16 Years

I have stones, gabriel, estu and botman.. just in case gabriel and stones are absent.

or should I replace Mubama? bad choice to not leave the balance in the bank

I have Gabby, Beyer and Kabore and I'm just gonna risk it for what it's worth. Thinking is what's the point on wasting a transfer for a player who proably won't play? I think the chance of Gabby not starting or coming off the bench + the player you bring in scoring enough to make the transfer worth it less than 5% chance tbh

    Gw3 could be a bloodbath...

If you didn't opt for the bare-bones defense a bench boost could well be on too.

Albeit Turner goes to Old Trafford for save points.

Because you think he’ll score more than every midfielder, the captain is a separate issue, that’s down to if you think he’ll outscore Haaland in this given week.

        1. Toon lurk
          • 8 Years

Yeah but if Haaland plays a top 3 defence and Salah is playing at home to Bournemouth and you aren't captaining then when are you? And if you're never captaining him there is better value elsewhere.

Point is you’re saying ‘what’s the point of owning if you don’t captain’? Doesn’t that same principle apply to the 14m striker you think you shouldn’t Captain?

I don’t think you need to factor fixs into this decision, City just don’t have difficult fix at the Ethiad, pretty sure they put 3 past Newcastle there with Haaland averaging 10ppg at home.

Extracting value from Salah shouldn’t come into it either, I had Salah & Haaland last week, scored 82, loads of teams had Haaland & better value picks & loads of them hit around 76, my poor value picks out scored their better sourced value picks.

Price is another, Kane was what? 12m last year, very few went up against Haaland with the C with him, didn’t stop him scoring a lot of points or boosting their ranks, he was still the best differential in the game & key to a good season.

The decision should solely be if you think Salah scores more points or not, if you think Salah gets 15 & Haaland 5, it’s a no brainer, don’t think about it.

If you think they both score 10 each, why do you need to risk it with so little to be gained? There’s a chance you get it wrong with Haaland getting 10 & Salah nothing like last year then you’re losing ground to most of the game for very little chance of a gain.

I’m captaining Salah but I don’t think it’s as simple a decision as some make out just because of his price, it’s about your own honest points projections & if you think Haaland won’t score because chances are, he will, that’s what you’re betting against not if Salah will score or not.

Also, one last point, if you’re that confident that Salah is going to blow Haaland away this week, bust out the TC because the gain would be monumental, if you don’t bust out the TC then are you really that confident that the swing will be big enough to go against Haaland in the first place?

No because you will captain Haaland most week. If you don’t captain Salah this week you will never captain him. And if you. Ever captain a 12.5 asset he’s not worth it value wise

There's an argument to start Pedro ahead of Jackson.

      But it's probably right.

Chelsea do normally beat West Ham but they could do a Chelsea side bedding in at the London stadium.

It could just be an odd goal in it but you'd think Chelsea will edge it on Sunday afternoon.

With having 3 United players in Rash, Bruno and Shaw, I feel I should get a Liverpool players.
Sure, Liverpool plays Newcastle away next game, but United have Spurs and Arsenal away in the next 3. Brighton after that.

Diaz way more a goal threat and attacking. Bruno has pens though. But that's it? Are people scared of rotation with Diaz, and that's why he's not being picked as much?

Brought in James before the injury news.. Thoughts?

    Pickford
    JAMES Gabriel Estu
    Salah Rash Saka Richarlison Eze
    Haaland Pedro

    Turner, Baldock, Cash, Mubama

    A) Save & Play Baldock
    B) James --> ???

Just play Baldock, it's unlikely your James replacement will score enough to justify the points hit and you'll be gutted if you end up worse off for doing so.

I want to start Jackson this week, but the question is who would you bench for him?

    Turner
    Chilwell, Gabriel, Estupinan
Rashford, Bruno F., Saka, Martinelli, Mbeumo
    Haaland, Joao Pedro

    Onana, Jackson, Pinnock, Kabore

Probably just keep him on the bench.

I was leaning towards playing Jackson over Pedro but not sure.

Maybe even Mbuemo, quite fancy a Fulham CS

Odds on a Salah benching after throwing toys out the pram in front of Klopp last week?

What to do with trossard and Gabriel … this website says gabby starts but I’m assuming that’s down to timber injury and my opinion is tomayisa starts.

Nketiah goal surely earns his place too.

Wouldn't be surprised if Nunez started this week to use his height against Bournemouth's defence which is notoriously weak in the air.

Diaz is first choice LW despite the attacking options available. I would move Bruno > Diaz if you already own Rashford.

Can't decide on who to bench and don't like not having a Pool asset.

    Turner
    Gabriel Estu Chilwell
    Saka Rash Bruno Mbuemo Odegaard
    Haaland (c) Jackson
    Johnstone Pedro Baldock Beyer

    A) Bench J Pedro?
    B) Bruno > Luis Diaz
    C) Roll FT

    Thanks

Ofc also Chelsea but most will already have Chilwell and it may be tough to include Jackson over other picks in your starting XI so preferably def double up?

Talk of players like Foden and even Haaland having to step up in the absence of KDB and Mahrez, Gundogan departures...

But overall, even though some are more nailed, does it make Man City less of a compelling pick with the attacking midfield lacking leadership?

I just can't see how he can step up, I'm not sure Pep would even want Haaland to start dropping back and getting on the ball as that's not his strengths. Players such as Foden, Silva, Grealish and Kovacic are the ones that need to step up and 'replace' De Bruyne and Gundo.

Haaland from that team. Nobody else.

City will be fine but KDB is an awesome talent who can get a goal/assist out of nothing. They definitely need another addition in there though.

I was already wary of any City asset other than Haaland so yeah, I think we've seen against Arsenal and Sevilla they've struggled to get Haaland into the game with no KDB, Gundo or Mahrez about and that then reduces the potential of those other players. They'll probably push harder for Paquetá now KDB is injured and I may actually consider him after a few weeks as I think he's needed and Pep may be forced into playing him more than he'd normally plan to with a new signing, but he also isn't exactly KDB-like. Picking a nailed attacker from another team that are more dependable from week to week feels far more sensible at the minute

It was clear from Pep's line up on Wednesday that he took the Super Cup seriously, yet City were poor. Yes, I do feel they are sluggish in midfield, and it might take them a little while to click into top gear.

Even Haaland is being marked out of games quite a bit and I might revise his nailedness in my team when fixtures turn after GW8. They should be sorted by then, though.

It's a bit of a dilemma as they have a great run of fixtures coming up, but I'm not desperate to add to Haaland with more City assets just now.
