Last year Ederson was classed as a terrible pick because he was overpriced and had a low ceiling.

This year Ederson is classed as a great pick when he’s the same price & has the same low ceiling.

What’s changed? Rotation for outfield defenders was there last year as it is now, why is Ederson all of a sudden one to look at?

It could be the limited premium options so cash is not really an issue.

Possibly but the reasoning behind why he’s a terrible pick hasn’t changed, I owned Ederson last year for the second half & had to read constant bashing of him by a lot who now seem pro him, pre season made him a better pick it seems.

I have a feeling you might've just been half a season ahead of everyone, Freddo.

My gut feel is other GK's are struggling so Ederson looks good. People unsure on the nailed City defender so avoiding. Same with City mids with KDB injured. Haaland really the only clear nailed must have City player and everyone wants the safety blanket of the sky blue shirt in their backline.

I don’t think he was a terrible pick, just terrible value. Due to
Limited save points there’s always going to be 4.5s that outscore him unless city have a really good cs record. But the 4.5s are more of a lottery.

I do expect City will improve their CS count this year, but for a simple summary of why I still don't like him for FPL: if saves & bonus remained equal, Ederson would have needed 12.5 extra CS (i.e. 24 in total) to surpass Raya's pts total (with 12 CS)

Personally for me, it was seeing Man City nullify the mighty Newcastle attack. It's made me want to double on Man City defence more than their attack for these fixtures.
Agreed it will likely be 2 or 6, but this year feels more like to be a 6, more than last year.

Think I may agree with this. I'm still sceptical, but City have conceded very few chances so far and it looks like Gvardiol may be a bit like Dias in that he's settling in very quickly (I'll admit I thought he'd take some time). He has the pace and reading of the game to help cut out a lot of those chances City often concede on the break which should certainly help. I'd still like to see some more games though before I felt sure on him, and personally I still prefer a keeper that can get save pts when they concede

It's been two gameweeks and he's kept two clean sheets. The data is far too sparse to draw meaningful comparisons. If Hamer scores a worldly again this weekend, the debates shifts sharply.

Not sure he's a good long term pick for those reasons. Maybe a reasonable short term pick as, if you don't have Salah, most teams have spare funds so can afford to waste £1m on a GK and a lot of people are intending to use the first WC fairly early in the season and at that point you can see which 4.5m keeper is established. City also have a very nice run of games.

    Hi all,

Planning to move on salah, to spread the funds. Have 2ft and 0.5 ITB

    Currrent team is;

    Pickford (turner)

    Chilwell, Estupian, saliba (Henry, kabore)

    Salah, saka, rashford mitoma, eze

    Pedro, Haaland, (mubama)

Which of the following is best?

A - salah and Pedro to foden Wissa

B - salah and Pedro to foden and Wissa, and also Eze to mbuemo (-4)

C - salah and Pedro to foden and Wissa and Pickford to ederson (-4)

    Any suggestions much appreciated!

      I wouldn’t do C as a -4. Hit for a gk whose ceiling is 6 seems wrong.

B is a nice little mini WC but if the Encisco injury rumours are true I’d hold Pedro. I do feel people are selling Salah prematurely too.

Considering you have .5itb I’d probably just do Eze to Mbeumo and carry a ft into gw4

I would agree with this. Unless we get info that Maddison is actually out for longer than what Paul O'Keefe suggested, he's an easy hold. Burnley and Sheffield Utd up next with Liverpool, Luton and Fulham shortly after
