Plan is to get rid of cash at some point, but debating whether it’s worth keeping him this week as it “seems” he’ll be ok. Tbh he hasn’t done a great deal on the attacking front since getting him in and CS aren’t flowing either. Think getting a Palace def instead is a fairly obvious switch.

I think priority should be Burn, and I’d go Saliba although you can’t wrong with Lasc given the price point. Saliba has the better fixtures imo but either way save the transfer. If I owned Maddison I’d hold unless he’s def out.

Mitch is the safest of the safe
Lasc is safe until Botman returns
Gabriel will play most games, but as we have seen will occasionally be randomly dropped, maybe for easier matches or when Arteta tries to be too clever

    Turner - Dropped
    Gordon - BOU (A)
    Tsimikas - BRE (H)
    Porro - WOL (A)

That will be my bench this coming GW unless I decide to bench Saka and play Gordon again. With Wilson picking up a hammy, Gordon likely to play up top against a really bad defence. Thoughts on getting in Johnstone at home to EVE for Turner and bench boosting?

    1. Fulchester's New Centr…

You are only considering BB because of Gordon. Nobody else other than Saka you'd consider dropping from 1st XI?

Don't think I will be benching anyone from Salah, Son, Bowen, Nunez, Watkins and Alvarez.

I will wait to see how many minutes Tsimikas plays tonight, if any and whether we are going to have to deal with weeks of flag upon yellow flag because of Arteta making a fuss about Saka.

I'm sorry but this is dreadful advice.

The reason double game weeks are the best the time to play chips is that the odds of getting a decent return are improved, i.e. 2 bites at the cherry. So what you're advocating here is a gamble that some of the players on that bench will get returns.

But looking at those fixtures there is lots stacked against those teams, i.e. Porro - Spurs defence in tatters with suspensions; Tsimikas - playing against an excellent Brentford team who love to score on the counter, Gordon - playing away after a morale sapping loss in midweek.

Plus it requires a transfer in of a GK to be even worth it. Arguably that's a GK that would be starting rather than benching too.

        Save BB for DGW

        1. FOO FIGHTER
          • 6 Years
          2 years, 4 months ago

I have had triple Arsenal and triple City in DGW's before and went tits up.

DGW's are not always the best time to use chips. Even triple cap in a SGW can outscore a DGW.

          1. Guru Mediation
            • 10 Years
            2 years, 4 months ago

I mean, triple Arsenal and triple City are never going to be on your bench for DGW are they. You need to compare apples with apples, i.e. a bench boost is 4 players not getting into your first xi, and the focus is on optimising the odds that they will score points, i.e. by playing the odds

The baseline score for a nailed player is always higher because of 2 points per 90 min start. So you're aiming for 16 points from the BB. Then just 1 return from any of those players equals 20 points. Compare that to a SGW and to get to 20 points from 4 players requires 2 or 3 of them to get a return.

But that's not to say DGW will always yield the best score, because FPL is largely a game of luck.

At the end of the day, play the game as you want and have fun with it

All that is fine but no way you're trying to justify Gordon playing Bournemouth being a bad option this week just because they lost in UCL...

I didn't say he was a bad option, but that fixture alone doesn't justify a bench boost. Especially as high performance in top level sport can come down to fine margins. Any random thing can knock a team off kilter for an individual gameweek - a midweek loss, travelling to the south coast from the North East, etc.

Nothing to be sorry about but I am a firm believer of BBing in SGWs rather than messing up my team for BB in DGW. 2 bites at the cherry might increase your odds of doing well in THAT particular GW but it certainly disturbs the planning around that specific DGW, more likely to impact your pre-BB and post-BB scores.

BB in DGW doesnt necessarily lead to more points either with most of the bench options being poor due to cash spread out over entire squad.

It can happen thy a single is better, but if you look at likelihood and probability with the players playing twice then doubles are the best option. It is all team dependant as you say though

Again I would challenge this argument as it's based on the group think here of "15 DGW for bench boost". This is why squads get messed about as you've articulated above (spreading funds etc.).

My view of a bench boost is that it should focus on just the 4 players who do not get into your starting xi, so a good collection of 4.5 defenders, a 5.5-6 mid and a 4.5 keeper. And as I've mentioned above the aim is to eek out as much from them as possible, so hopefully 2x60 mins = 4 points per player = 16 points plus 1 return out of 8 games = ~20 points.

It's a boring way to look at it, but I think it provides more clarity of thought when often people tear up squads for DGW season as you've said

Now this is constructive and in depth criticism irrespective of who disagrees or agrees with you without trolling.

When do you ever have 15 DGWers in a DGW though? It literally never happens so really you're bench boosting the single gameweekers who have a decent game normally.

Also, I hate having to work my second wildcard around fitting 15 good players in for bench boost. It's a chip I would love to get out of the way before that.

Guys, 1 FT, itb 0.8m.What is the best option?

    Defence:Trippier Cash Porro Tsimikas
    Striker: Morris

Cash is unflagged so I guess I am leaning towards transferring either Porro or Morris atm, but Nketiah did not play against Sevilla so he might not play vs Burnley.

    a. Porro to Arsenal defender/Guehi
    b. Morris to Nketiah
    c. Do both for -4 hit

Not sure what to do with my transfer, I have 2 FT's and 1.1M ITB.

I can only really see a replacement for Cash or Alvarez possibly. What do yo think?

    A. Cash > Livramento
    B. Cash > Estu
    C. Cash > Saliba
    D. Alvarez > Nketiah
    E. Something Else?

    Johnstone
    Tsimikas | Guehi | Cash
    Saka | Bowen | Salah | Son | Mitoma
    Watkins | Darwin

    Areola / Alvarez / Gabriel / Branthwaite

    Thanks

Don't think Estupinan will start games straight away and would keep Cash for Fulham. Alvarez to Nketiah also does not seem great especially when Alvarez was rested in the CL match. Suggests he is a key player now.

If Estu fit I'd go there.

Otherwise maybe just get rid of Areola for a 3.9 or the Palace back up (Matthews - 4.0) and put the change in a box under the bed.

I really like the look of him, way more exciting than Lasc, but personally I can get away without changing a defender this week so I thought I'd give it another GW to decide.

Safe to say Manchester united are out of the CL. That atmosphere from the Gala fans would probably be enough to impose fear on them. Think Copenhagen or Gala will qualify.

    Constructive criticism vs Trolling.

When anyone receives replies to their posts, which one is your preference?

I prefer constructive criticism. It provides you with an alternative to your current thoughts.

You can still disagree with somebody but trying to derail their post just seems like their is nothing better to do for some but to CONSTANTLY troll and annoy somebody.
