As a non Solanke owner I'm happy the result will stand and the points will be allocated. Over 60 mins dictates that is the common sense approach. I'll no doubt drop out of the top 5k but big deal. There's an player collapsing let's get over it.

Those who have Solanke deserve the points it's been a tough season for most but way tougher for Lockyer's family right now.

And I'm a Watford supporter and we hate Luton, not tonight though. I wish him well

Uncle Roy does it again. Whilst the headlines will rightly be elsewhere (which could do Pep a favour) the bottom line is City have a right battle on to win he league this season.

I bet Pep is really loving going to the club world cup right now

It's a game. They don't retrospectively go back for rescinded rc or if a goal is changed. Unless there is official confirmation that the game is going to be replayed before updating then I'd expect them to just keep it as it is

No way this is happening if two side play for 3 points.!

Premiers League Matchweek blog has deleted the BOU - LUT fixture. They have only updated the bonus points for the 3 other games + BUR - EVE.
Also the table does not count the BOU - LUT as a draw (not even a match since they are both on 16 and not 17 played fixtures)

          https://www.premierleague.com/matchweek/12285/blog
          https://www.premierleague.com/tables

Looking likely the points will be removed to me, but anything could happen!

no your logic is wrong... Everyone gets a fair chance at a 39th gameweek

If you scrap this gwk points you punish solanke owners (they lose a gwk) and everyone else GAINS a gameweek. Not sure why people struggling to understand this

Not talking about fair chances or not. That wasn't the point I was trying to make. All I am saying is that 39 games from an FPL point of view has never happened.

I find it quite incredible that FPL haven't simply tweeted what happens in this situation. This is an entirely possible situation which they surely already have a protocol in place for. Why not just simply tell us what it is?

i agree but how often does this happen. they can change the rules if they want for their benefit, especially as there's no official rules that apply to this situation

        1. Salarrivederci

What Bubz is trying to tell you is, that it does not look pretty, that FPL don't just make a statement right now.

It's like they try to make up a new rule to keep all the Solanke owners happy, but from an objective point of view. Had Solnake not scored nor assisted. If it was 1-1 at 59' with Townsend and Cook G with no assists, then the %-base af happy managers owning any or both of those be so small so the standard model of abandoned games would not be a 'problem' to follow from an FPL 'keep the engaged players happy' kinda view.
All Solanke owners (and new owners) would curse at their bad luck, but would not fight a decision that a Solanke 1-pointer be scraped in exchange for a DGW in the near future.

FPL is either making up a new rule making Luton and Bournemouth players have 39 games this season. Make up a rule where Bournemouth - Luton points won't coun't in a future GW. Or simply upset the Solanke owners (and new owners) by removing the points treating it as a blank GW just as the table and the matchweek blog on the official side does.

But is hard for FPL to upset so many managers. On the other hand it would be comical to read one of the potential two new rules written in the rulebook should they keep Solanke owners (and new owners) happy this GW. Would make a lot of people happy, but in the long run make fantasy game look a bit comical .

Because the PL don’t have a set rule - they have several options.

FPL will want to mirror PL as best as possible where timings allow.

Should the PL have a clear rule? Probably.

      1. Salarrivederci
        • 9 Years
        2 years, 4 months ago

The PL have removed the fixture from the matchweek blog.
The PL have not included the fixture in Bournemouth nor Lutons total tally of fixtures this GW.
The PL have not added any points to the club total:
The PL matchweek blog has not updated any bonus points as they have in the other 4 matches today.

If FPL are to mirror PL to the best way possible they would scrape all points and the fixture too.

I think they will do that before 20:15 today, but if the PL or clubs or whatever state that the 1-1 stands it will be easy to give the FPL points back before the final update tomorrow night with autosubs and so on.

However if FPL do this today they will upset a few Solanke owners. So every posibility to create a new speciel rule to make most happy.

I still think it is strange if that happens, as I think that this new rule would only be invented due to Solanke owners.
It would have nothing to do with anything else, and had Solanke been on 1 point they would already have treated this as a covid-postponement.
Harsh truth, but that is what I think.

But it shouldn’t matter. If FPL’s protocol for an abandoned match is to let the points stand, what the PL do re the game has no bearing on it

Except the situation is different here. If a game is called off due to snow, fpl managers have prior information about the weather.
Here the situation is different. Many fpl managers bought Solanke for a hit because he was in good form

    https://resources.premierleague.com/premierleague/document/2023/12/06/5df13344-b72d-494e-9208-38e69d733b04/PL_Handbook_2023-24_DIGITAL_06.12.23.pdf

The Premier League handbook appears to essentially say "We'll decide if the match is replayed" (p.212, L.18).
It does imply the match will be replayed in full but it is quite careful not to specify it.
However, it does look after the money side of things - "If the match is abandoned after kick-off, attending supporters will be allowed to buy tickets for the rearranged match at half price." (p.236, R.6.11.2)
The last Premier League match to be abandoned after kick-off (as far as I can tell, but I'm happy to be corrected) was West Ham v Crystal Palace (November 1997), which was 2-2 at the time of abandonment (65th minute). The match was replayed in full with West Ham winning 4-1.

Long story short - the Premier League will just decide what happens next. You can argue about the pros and cons if you like, but I don't think we can say with any confidence what definitely will happen until we hear their announcement.

      • 12 Years

The premier league and FPL are two different things. Sure, the PL are going to decide what happens next re replaying the game, but whether the FPL points from the initial game stand or not is entirely down to FPL's own rules and protocol

This is very true. Whatever FPL decides is entirely up to them.

This information is still relevant to anyone who is wondering if the match will be replayed and if it is, whether it will be replayed in full or from the moment of abandonment. For example, if the Premier League does state that the match will not be replayed and the result will stand at 1-1, FPL won't really have a decision to make.
