9 goal attempts today. 7 inside of the box. It wasn't a good decision.

Yeah fair enough mate. The game is about points so you got the call right, just saying there was luck involved.

You can't get a goal without at least one goal attempt stat. More goal attempts are conducive to goals.

If Solanke had done nothing and had no shots etc I would say it would be a fair statement to say glad you benched Solanke ... but I reckon in reality you should be saying that you are glad you got away with benching him ... more like it 🙂

Was just looking at clean sheet stats - have collapsed this year:

    Clean sheets / game (GW1-GW20)
    23/24 21%
    22/23 28%
    21/22 28%
    20/21 29%
    19/20 24%
    18/19 26%
    17/18 32%
    16/17 25%
    15/16 30%
    14/15 28%

83 CS so far - compared to 2020-21 when we had a similar number of games played at this point in time there were 115. Pretty striking.

Interesting to understand what the reason could be. It’s a bit much for just being a deviation? More disruptions and injuries / less time for defences to gel? If so, why more injuries?

I'm pretty sure this obsession with teams trying to fart arse around from the back is a massive factor. Keepers who can play with their feet (allegedly) can get in the bin. Stick to keepers who can save shots and claim crosses first and foremost.

The reason could be more minute added on at the end of games than in previous seasons. Also, thie length of games may have caused more injuries and thus more goals being scored.

More penalties too, a lot more than average, I was looking a few weeks back and a penalty was being awarded in every 3rd game on average with very few missed.

        Yep all of those.
Also feels like standard of goalkeepers have been weaker than usual e.g. already there are 19 goalkeeping errors that led to a goal this season

At least my defense is more or less sorted...

    Areola - Dubravka
Porro - TAA - Walker - Beyer (Tsimi)
    Foden - Gordon - Kudus* - Son* - Salah*
    Watkins - Alvarez - Solanke

Two freebies, no money in the bank, but with Son and Salah that's not really an issue.

If Haaland comes back, though, it becomes a problem, unless Pep brings him around somewhat slowly. Salah + Alvarez >> Palmer + Haaland works, but leaves me still playing Gordon, no bench and a depreciating asset in Son.

Salah + Son >> Saka + Palmer, then? It's not exactly elegant, but it leaves me with room to move.

    The way I play FPL:

My starting 11 is my starting 11. And my bench players are my bench players.

You can't play an 8th attacker in this game so I never have one.

It makes bench points pain easier to take knowing you have set up your team in this way.

    1. I Member
      • 10 Years

I agree completely. More than one way to play the game but I don't like having a good 8th attacker.

Can't stand difficult benching decisions. It's the nature of FPL to punish you for getting it wrong. I like to take that stress out of the game and only play with 7 first choice attackers.

    3. Debauchy
      • 13 Years

Generally play that way too unless I am building towards a BB

    4. Hotdogs for Tea
      • 10 Years

In seasons gone by I would agree, this season I have had a stronger bench with one player that I am happy to be subbed in ... so a decent 8th attacker has been useful - Édouard, Rice, Solanke, Palmer, Gordon ...

    5. Kingy109
      • 4 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

Having 8 attackers has meant getting 6 points from Gordon for Solanke's abandoned game and being able to bench and hold Alvarez and Palmer without having to play Cash or Kabore in the last few game weeks. So I've been glad if it. It would be boring if we all played the same.

Haaland was on -97% on FPLstats earlier when I looked

    Very bizarre his price changes...

    1. JBG
      • 7 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

Can't allow more price drops to last seasons best player. The same thing will probably happen to Salah (and Son) as well. Expecting 0.3 or 0.4 drop. But will probably be max. 0.2

    2. Sir Michael Taker
      • 11 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

his price didn't ever rise all season either beyond 0.1m. Not sure if thats a factor in the algorithms? I reckon there's loads of dead teams (millions maybe) still with him in holding it up

    3. Hotdogs for Tea
      • 10 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

People are buying him because he has been seen and will be back next game week ... and Son & Salah are not available.

His high ownership meant he needed a huge amount of sales to drop in price

Not really, when there are no rules published for how price changes happen, then they can not be rigged.

I wonder if the lack of Haaland price changes may be different for Son/Salah due to current price v starting price. FPL towers manipulating Haaland transfer out threshold to maintain CP close to SP.

    Haaland
    CP 13.9
    SP 14.0

    Salah
    CP 13.3
    SP 12.5

    Son
    CP 9.9
    SP 9.0

I assume it's distorted just by how high his ownership is and the dead teams (he was still the most capped player in the game this week with 28% giving him the armband)
But if a player has 8.8m owners and goes to 5.6m, it really should lead to more of a price change IMO!

Am I missing something here? Live FPL tells me Son will give me a 16k rank rise per point in FPL. I cap him so 18 points, it says thank increase of 145k. But 16k x 18 = 288,000.

I’m probably being stupid and the cap is the reason somehow

You're in a very similar situation to me - in your current team at least 8 could be justified in transferring out - but the sage advice seems to be to hold.

Salah and Son are dropping in price so quickly even with flags on them. Salah, as an example, needs about 72k more transfers to drop - this morning it was about 185k. He's had 303k transfers out so far - I was hoping his 1st price drop would be at least a week, but based on this trend it's more likely to be tonight or tomorrow!!
Anyone wiser than me (most on here) got any insight / projection as to when he might drop in price?

I’m ignoring all prices until deadline, knowing my luck Bowen etc would get injured if I jump the gun

Doubt it will be tonight, I can take the first drop pain free so mainly worried whether he drops twice before next gw

Hate to throw away good profit but with two weeks and cup matches in may be necessary to suck up a loss

Probably all the people who prioritise team value so they can go ahead and bench Palmer with all that spare change they have lying around.

Fair - but each 0.1m you'll lose will make it much harder to buy Salah back - if you're selling him as I will have to.
As an example Salah might drop tonight / tomorrow based on the current trend of transfers and Richarlison (one of my targets) will probably rise

I'm treating this as an international break. I'm not WC'ing and if I make my transfers early to an injured player I'm taking a hit.

I'm going to sell Salah and or Son which releases money. 0.3 price change is better than bring in a bunch of injured players and taking hits to get them out.

2 games left this GW and FA cup matches (as well as a long long gameweek)

      The flag has some impact
But yeah his drop in GW9 looks weird in comparison
9.2m owners at peak in GW7
That goes to 8.8m owners by GW9 after two weeks of 0.2m sales and he falls 0.1m
This time around he goes from 8.8m owners to 5.6m and falls the same amount ... bizarre!

I said after Solanke's 17 point haul that its too late to jump on the bandwagon. Many caught wanting. And irrationally playing him over Palmer vs Luton.

I'd had my fill from that haul vs forest and will be benching Solanke against Liverpool too.

So currently my simplest option seems to be use my 2FT to lose Salah Son and bring in Foden Bowen and end with:

    Areola
    Trent Tripper Porro
    Saka Bowen Foden Palmer Gordon
    Watkins Solanke

    Turner Archer Lascelles Maguire

I have two awful options on the bench I need to sort out.

Erm. Why am I writing. I guess my question is are you look at my team and think WHY DONT YOU HAVE x?? Anyone jump out?
