Looking at 10 (11 if Beyer makes a miraculous recovery) players for 26 here.
Any moves you would make as a priority?

    Areola.
    Gabriel, Maguire, Trippier, Beyer.
    Foden, Saka, KDB, Garnacho.
    Watkins, Haaland.
    Dubravka, Palmer, Darwin, Porro.
    1ft 0.6m ITB.

Porro > Saliba. Arsenal don't like to concede goals so a double up at the back isn't the worst decision. Also, he pops up with an attacking return every now and then to more than justify his existence.

    Areola
    Gabriel, Van Hecke, XXX
    Saka, KDB, Foden, Garnacho
    Watkins, Haaland, Solanke

    (Turner, Palmer*, Doughty* Lascelles)

Best defender to bring in for GW26 onwards with budget not being an issue?

    A) Saliba
    B) Pau
    C) Andersen
    D) Trippier

How many points would you say a WC is worth? Currently have 7 blanks if Archer is out, so would need a -12 to field 11. WC, or take hits?

-12 I'd say is WC territory since likely you will upgrade elsewhere as well. But for this week I'd think a -4 is enough and just roll with less than full 11

    Planned WC in 27:

    Dubravka Areola
    Gabriel Doughty Senesi VDV Taylor
    Salah Son Saka Palmer Barkley
    Haaland Watkins Solanke

    4 doublers in 28. 8 playing in 29.

Dubravka and Areola? You must not like goalkeeper points. I'd upgrade Dubravka if you have the funds

I started tinkering too. Got a fairly settled core but still haven't quite decided whether to go for bare bones bench or still keep 8 strong attackers and rotate (Palmer/Neto/Hojlund/Solanke for 3 spots) by fixtures. Sort of depends on whether we'll still have some teams blanking in 34.

Either way I think I'm done with Areola. Don't like many GKs but will just pick one with fodder backup. Maybe Pickford but I do like Branthwaite as 4th defender & not sure I want to double up.

I'm also considering VVD if Trent hasn't recovered. Actually was pleasantly surprised at what I can afford overall.

Not normally worth taking a hit for defender but you should get 2 points back in appearance points alone so worth a punt if it doesn't muck you up after the blank.

A I think. I don't really fancy the equation of 2pts for a CS, -2 if not, since you're really looking for 50%+ CS odds. Such high CS odds and potential for attacking returns isn't easy to find - maybe you could try Dawson but I think I'd just leave it

I'm not to fussed about it in general, as the majority of people are in the exact same boat.

However my latest ML rival went nuts and transferred out Darwin as part of a strategy to bring in Salah an TC him which is hard to take!

TCers are lying to themselves if they think they will be happy with Haaland getting 2 goals across two supposedly easy home fixtures. Needs at least 2 goals + 1 assist plus bonus to make the chip worthwhile. One Youtube 'expert' said the games against Chelsea and Brentford at home were 'as good as it gets' for TC.
Sheff Utd and Burnley at home better in my humble opinion.

Nobody, just saying. Chelsea were always more than capable of spoiling the party. People wrongly assumed that was going to be a walk in the park for City. I think I prefer Salah's potential double of Fulham/Villa or even Solanke's upcoming double.

            1. x.jim.x
              • 11 Years

So it can't be "as good as it gets" because it never gets that good.

Chelsea had shipped 10 goals in the last 4 games and should have shipped more if it wasn't for poor finishing. Haaland himself had an xG of 1.7 (a record amount for a non-scorer this season), which meant people were right to assume he would score big.

    6. aapoman
      • 12 Years
      2 years, 3 months ago

Doesn't really matter. Almost everyone has him TC so even if he blanks the damage is not too big. People going for a differential TC are in the minority and very likely you will not lose any ranks even if their differential pick succeeds since you'd most probably have their TC as a regular captain.

      1. AARON-1
        • 4 Years
        2 years, 3 months ago

Well, by that rationale, those of us with Haaland as regular captain aren't that bothered if he scores 3 against Brentford. Captaining the one that others TC reduces the damage unless they go really big.

        1. aapoman
          • 12 Years
          2 years, 3 months ago

Wrong. My point was that those with TC captain shouldn't mind that he blanks since almost everyobe has him TC. Of course if he hauls it is going to be bad for those who didn't TC him. The people using TC later are in the minority so later e.g. if TC Solanke goes crazy that effect is not going to be even that bad for those who TC'd Haaland this week.

I agree with you. Kinda the point I was getting at above.

Yes you want your TC to haul but when you are in line with the vast majority of players, if it bombs it doesn't matter as much.

IMO my ML rival has got away with a bad choice on paper. Salah only came on early because as fate would have it Jota got injured. He also shipped Darwin for bench fodder ahead of a DGW, so has lost points there.

He has used all his chips now though, so I reckon I'll beat him come the end of the season. 🙂

1 FT and 4.2 ITB. WIll likely to Jota > Neto or Hwang after the midweek games which gives me 10 starters in 26. In terms of chip strategy would FH29, WC36 and BB37 makes sense?

    Gabriel - Branthwaite - Maguire

    Haaland - Watkins

This is a chip strategy I'm considering that I haven't seen discussed a great deal, many appear to be leaning WC27 atm, all team dependent of course. Im thinking WC35/36 could also work. Way things stand this is my route, means I can forget paving the way for 29 and get who I want between now and then. From 30 I will focus on strengthening 11 for DGW34 and go from there. Need to have a good look at it though in case I'm missing any obvious flaws in the plan. Also considering Jota to Neto (or Ø) 🙂

      1. Jet5605

Think late transfers after the picture becomes clear is key. I'm not going to be sucked in by price changes. I'm also not going to be sucked in by loading up on Villa players or Bowen for GW29. Navigating through 29 (even with a hit or two) without using any chips could end up being gold if it means I can attack 34 and 37.
Not sure on Ode. He's clearly great but Arsenal points are spread around a lot. Saka is also the penalty taker and so Ode needs open play points.

I think this is right. It’s going to be tempting to FH29 knowing that an under resourced team will probably only get 30, but there are probably bigger wins later on

      I'm also contemplating FH29, WC 35/36, BB37.

Was initially looking to play through 29 but felt that jumping on Wolves and Arsenal assets now would be more beneficial than loading up on West Ham and Villa assets that are underwhelming at the moment and who are only being brought in to cover BGW29.

Not knowing the full fixture list for GW34 is the only downside for planning this now but I think by GW30 it will be a lot clearer.

Decided to activate my wild card as I've been a lot less involved due to family issues. I know it's early, but I would have needed at least a -12 to cover the next few weeks.

The only areas of concern are no Palmer and goalkeepers are poor but this leaves 0.1 in the bank, with 11 next week and 8 for 29 which I'd be happy with. Any thoughts appreciated

    Areola Dubravka
Pau, Robinson, Gabriel, Reguilon Udogie (if declared fit)
    Saka, Salah, Son, Luiz, Chan
    Watkins, Haaland Solanke

Are you saving your FH for later? I'm WC drafting too (although for 27) but I think I prefer to just FH29 rather than load up on Villa now. I think with their injuries there's a chance Luiz's open play threat is diminished and CS will be hard to come by. I also much prefer Senesi to Reguilon if taking FH29 route

It's so unclear at the moment but my initial thought is to still use it in 34 or 37. Definitely going to navigate 29 with my new squad and will then upgrade Luiz to Palmer by moving a defender to bench fodder

This is really helpful but also highlights the uncertainty (Arsenal Chelsea in 29 doesn’t seem anything like a certainty and as you say, there seems to be some doubt over the other assumptions).

Given the experience of this DGW and the quality of potential DGW34 teams, I’m more tempted to go FH29 and play quality SGW players in 34.

If I now plan to free hit in 29, would Gabriel over Pau sound more logical?

Can only get 10 after a hit for gw26. Darwin > solanke worth a double hit or save?

    areola
    gabriel pau regulion
    kdb saka foden hwang
    haaland watkins

    dubravka daughty baldock palmer solanke

worth imo. Basically a -2 this week since Solanke plays and Darwin doesn't.

Yup and you likely would bring in Solanke anyways latest for his double in 28 so take the "-2" this week rather than -4 later

Was planning on getting him next gw after the city game, but guess a -2 makes sense this gw. Cheers

2ft and 5.2itb. Planning on not using FH29 and then WC30/31

    Ederson
    Saliba Reguilon
    Foden Garnacho Saka
    Haaland Watkins Solanke

Dubravka; Palmer*, Richarlison*, Porro*, Doughty*, Konsa*

Palmer and Konsa -> D. Luiz and Pau for free? Team is then full for bgw26.

Hojlund, Watkins, Solanke and Toney all vying for two spots. All on form and 90 mins players.

I think Solanke claims one of the spots short-term due to his DGW. As for the rest, they all have their merits. Perhaps there's a notion to pick Watkins if you're looking at preserving your rank or opting for Højlund/Toney if you're chasing?

Solanke should be a lock due to his double. Watkins is more safe, Hojlund/Toney for chasers

      My planned front three:

      26 - Haaland Watkins Hojlund
      27 and 28 - Haaland Watkins Solanke
      29 - Haaland Watkins Toney

      My current plan:
      26: Toney & Hojlund
      WC27: Solanke & Hojlund
      FH29: Watkins & Toney
      33: Solanke - Toney

What is your chip strategy, I'm thinking...

FH29 - Got 7 players projected, not inspiring
    WC34
    BB37

7 players is enough for BGW29

      WC 27
      8 0r 9 players in 29
      Saving FH and BB

I like this strategy a lot!

FH34, BB37 with this sounds nice

    Areola
    Trippier, Gabriel, Branthwaite, Taylor (Gusto)
    KDB, Saka (Jota, Rich, Palmer)
    Haaland, Watkins (Darwin)

    2FT, 0.3it

Use 1FT on Jota.. the other one on Gusto or Darwin?

      Darwin. Strikers are on form

Darwin to Solanke cause you're going to want him if he gets that DGW v Sheffield United and Luton.

Very tempting to WC in GW27 to this. Fix the team structure early.

    Neto / 4.0
    Gabriel / Botman / Doughty / Senesi / Branthwaite
    Salah / Saka / Son / Palmer / Barkley
    Watkins / Solanke / Haaland

    FH29
    DGW/Blank 34 - Prepare during GW30-34 using FTs
    GW37 - BB, prepare between GW35-37

Biggest con is maybe not getting the most out of GW34/37. But an early wildcard could see gains.
