Yeah, he's going forward and he'll get a few crosses per game. Plus he's cheap and pretty much a sure thing seeing as Reece James is out and he's been performing well. 5 assists in 20.

    Nice write up.

Along with a cracker at Old Trafford and in the FA Cup generally.
I hoped that Coventry would play Man Utd and the big spenders could play it out in April.

The beauty of football is in its inherent unpredictability compared to many elite sports like tennis or rugby where the favourite tends to win.

      I'd go a step further.

In rugby or cricket for example, the favourite might not always win, but the better team on the day generally does.

In football, as a low scoring game, you can get battered and still win if you take your chances and the other team doesn't (i.e. are lucky enough).

As an example, look at the stats for when Maidstone beat Ipswich (2 - 1) in the cup in January: 38 shots (13 on target) for Ipswich to 2 (both on target) for Maidstone; 79% possession to 21%; 680 passes to 200; 87% pass accuracy to 49%; 11 corners to none.

      Excremental!

      Son is my trade off.

Sure he'll haul occasionally but Foden and Haaland likely to be more consistent.

Maybe flip a coin on Foden or Son?

On pure stats for goals and assists it is Son but when you take into account the extra £2m Foden is better value and also has better goal involvement data so his xG stats suggest Foden too.

It's close enough to be what you prefer and an extra £2m is a healthy wedge at this point in the game.

O'Neil said at the weekend he's about five weeks away, so he'd be bang on course for GW34. If that's his first game back, you'd have to wonder about the extent of his involvement.

Likely GW 35. Can build for a GW34 team easily.

      Already have:
      ARS 3
      LIV 1
      BOU 2
      WOL 1

So i need to get 2 more LIV and 1 or 2 CRY and that will get me a full 11 of doublers.

Personally I wouldn't let a small dgw34 determine your wildcard play.

That seems sub optimal to me.

You can always get Eze in on a free transfer and use a core team.

There's plenty of attacking talent and the best teams are more likely to double in gw37 I think.

I could be wrong on that but if teams are still in European competition there is less slots at the moment.

Liverpool should have been at Everton this weekend, rather than getting beat at Old Trafford so that's there double.

I think Man United progressing to play Coventry City at Wembley around April 20th means they can't double with Sheffield United.

Does it also mean they blank against Newcastle now? That would make sense but I'm not sure how the midweek slots will work.

I think the FA Cup results have overall weakened the advantage of FH34.

But there's still some blanks and doubles to play into.

      1. AC/DC AFC
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Gw34 it looks to me that:

        Brighton and Chelsea blank.
        Man Utd and Newcastle blank.
        Spurs and Man City blank.

That last one means FH34 is on, especially as non-FH29 squads will have Spurs and Man City in them.

        There's a split approach now.

FH29 can wildcard early whilst FH34 might be forced to save the wildcard for gw35.

Which could be sub-optimal for maximising the advantage of the wildcard outside of gw34 or gw37.

There's just 9 or 10 games left for most teams.

I played mine this morning fwiw.

                He doesn't know.

                Clubs have a say.

Other competition dynamics determine available slots.

        I think you're well set.

I think the justification for a wildcard this week is to restructure into a Salah team and avoid hits.

Egypt play NZ in Cario on Friday night so if Salah gets a knock I can get Son in instead.

Assuming South Korea players are all fine after their double header against Thailand in the world cup qualifiers, kicking off in Seoul first.

Just taking week by week. My team looks ok for GW30 (already done Luiz > Salah), but likely to WC next week to bring back Haaland which will require major surgery now funds tied up in Salah. Hoping for an injury to a popular asset in midfield to scupper the template. i.e. Would be nice to see Bowen, Foden, Saka, Salah, Son on the bench for a while.....

Team dependent obviously, but may play it in 31 to target as many GWs as possible.

Only have FH and TC available so I’m less concerned with having a perfect 15 for BB (although it would be nice). FH may be best in 37 with all the doubles, so hopefully 34 presents with a few TC candidates

GW30. Get the price rises in over IB. Get the fixtures for doubles. Plan for FH34 and mainly build the WC for BB37.

Triple Chelsea, triple City, triple LFC, Son, Havertz over Saka, cheap Everton/Brighton/Wolves players (depending on doubles), maybe Isak depending on doubles.

Initial idea was GW30, then I moved to GW31 taking into account the City - Arsenal fixture, but I'm back on GW30 I think. Not for sure and haven't made any moves yet so I have to see. But there are a lot of moves I feel will benefit me this week, however they come with a risk factor too as I'm leaning towards selling Son, potentially not having Haaland is another consideration. Don't want the same midfield as everyone else but I'm also taking into account Spurs' form given I had seen a number of fans saying they didn't look good in recent weeks and Saturday was very poor viewing. Him being shifted to the left has to be taken into account when you have players with form and fixtures like those from Arsenal for example

I have now triple Spurs, no Saka, Salah or Haaland, but 14.2 million itb. This week I plan to get Salah in, but everything after that is in the air. I can see even scenario where I FH 34, dead end to BB37 and WC 38. That's unlikely, but there could be scenario where my team is so good, that I don't want to waste WC for defenders. FH38 is much more likely though. Team leaks and players like Muniz might be gold.

I've got a plan for you.

Form a plan around TC, use WC as need be and probably FH34 and BB37.

Gw38 free hit could also be value.

What's the general plan if only FH and BB chip left? I know, hard to tell without fixtures but FH34, BB37?

Depends how the doubles land in 34/37 and how your team is setup. It could be switched BB34 FH37

The other way around means you don't need to hold good players on your bench. With a few GW's left you can start to downgrade them to 1 point fodders to relase funds for a strong run in 11.

Looking ahead to GW30, which 1 would you bench out of these?

    A - Muniz (shu)
    B - Toney (MUN)
    C - Foden (ARS)
    D - Gibbs-White (CRY)

      Son

I think he blanks in gw34 but I could be wrong.

A blank is the same as an absence of a double!!

It's also less transfers to go Son to Salah.

Quick WC draft if Crellin's prediction come true. Would have 10 doublers in 34 + transfers to get more closer to that gameweek so could use BB then.

    Raya Pickford
    Saliba Gusto Nouri Branthwaite Richards
    Salah Saka Foden Son Palmer
    Haaland Darwin Semenyo

He doesn't blank gw34. Just has 1 fixture 100%. If I'd go with e.g. Neto + Pickford in goal I'd be tempted by Havertz on gw34 if Arsenal double then

Or is there a new mid week slot?

Chelsea or Man City might have someone to say about that.

Tbf they value the Premier League over the FA Cup so Man City might prefer to avoid later fixture congestion with the Champions League too.

Loads of different dynamics and Ben Crellin is just making educated guesses on his experience and late night Excel updates, after he's binged another series or quirky film or two.

People are more obsessed with fixture scheduling than player selection at the moment.

Dgw25 and blank gw29 shows that it can be a big let down planning obsessively rather than just going with the go to players.

Likely the one to plan around is BB37.

It’s not about harsh or not, it’s about the rules. The rules state that if the defender makes a genuine attempt to play the ball, then it’s a yellow card. If there is no attempt to play the ball, then it’s a red card. Clearly there was no attempt to play the ball, so red is the correct decision.

Playing the WC and sadly something has to give to have a more balanced team overall.

What do you think of Havertz instead of Saka? He is currently on better form.

Will also have two Arsenal defenders but one of these will be Kiwior.

I'm not sure you can make a case that Havertz is in better form than Saka.
      Over the last 6 games:
      Havertz 4 goals, 4 assists
      Saka 6 goals, 2 assists
Over the last 6 games however, Saka has only played more than 78 minutes once, which is a bit weird.
I love going different though, so I say go Havertz

            It’s not Rashford over Saka.

We need to prioritise Bellingham and then Foden.

That means Bellingham 10, Foden RW. Saka can’t play anywhere else, so he’s benched.

LW isn’t our strongest area. Grealish, Rashford, Palmer battling for it most likely.

Register team Thursday night for GW29 as away over the weekend.

I cannot believed with my FH I only obtained 20points but achieved a
GREEN arrow. - really pleased as made some big GW mistakes, I swapped out
Leno last moment with comments from the scout, kept Robinson on the
bench & played Pau last moment & then decided to stick with Watkins instead of going for
inform punt with Muniz as Watkins only 75% after going off in Europe gut
over head stuck instead of switching.....

      On my bench I had Barkley - 2points / Robinson - 11 points/Coufal - 7 points

      Leno 7 points v Flekken 2 points
      Pau 2 points v Robinson 11 points
      Watkins 2 points v Muniz 13 points

Could have been an extra 25 extra but that is the wonders of FPL game

How did others do in GW 29?
