FPL General Gameweek 5

GAMEWEEK 31 REVIEW

FPL General Gameweek 32

Ditching Phil Foden (£8.2m) on the Gameweek 30 Wildcard came back to bite me on Wednesday night. The Manchester City midfielder scored a hat-trick which brought his goal tally for the season to 14. The prospect of a green arrow after that was not looking good but Thursday night was a lot more enjoyable with Cole Palmer (£6.0m), Alejandro Garnacho (£4.9m) and Darwin Nunez (£7.6m) delivering the goods. Getting Garnacho’s 14-pointer from the bench was very satisfying and it secured a small green arrow from 91k to 87k. The goal of getting nine green arrows following the Wildcard is still on!

What a player Cole Palmer is. The fact that he has registered 25 attacking returns (16 goals + 9 assists) despite not starting a game until Gameweek 7 is crazy. After scoring six times in his last three appearances, surely he’s the best captaincy candidate this weekend away to Sheffield United. Don’t fall into the player price trap with Palmer. As FPL managers, we are conditioned to captain picks that cost £10m+ but the Chelsea talisman is performing consistently like a £10m+ pick. He’s certainly in my mind for the armband decision this weekend.

However, there are other strong candidates, too. There’s Son Heung-min (£10.1m) at home to Nottingham Forest, Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) away to Manchester United and the option of a rested Erling Haaland (£14.3m) at Crystal Palace. It’s not a straightforward decision. Many engaged managers are likely to move towards Palmer now due to the fixture and recency bias but I’m tempted to go elsewhere to chase some upside. It’s going to be a fun weekend ahead in terms of captaincy picks…

Gameweek 32 Bus Team

Best of luck this weekend folks and make sure you give today’s episode of the 59th Minute Podcast a listen at some point before the deadline.

Wish you all green arrows.

Tarkowski or Brantwaite as an asset until 34? Like Tarkowski but wondering if he's a rotation danger?

No chance Dyche rotates the CBs. He's one of, if not the most, predictable managers in the league.

35 for me too. Not quite sure yet if I'll BB34 or not, but will have a strong side that week (on paper, anyway!) and then switch up for the other doubles.

    Pickford - Petrovic

    Udogie - Gusto - Bradley - Richards - Ait-Nouri

    Salah - Son - Palmer - Garnacho - Saka

    Haaland - Solanke - Darwin

It's not a lot to go off, but I'm eyeing up that West Ham Luton fixture in 37 as an opportunity to get a Bowen or a Kudus in on a free hit. Think there's a differential haul there that could boost you up the ranks.

  9. fish&chips

Anyone considering BB35? Really nice fixtures for Newcastle, Utd, decent enough for Liverpool and City and then the doubles, albeit not very good ones, for Chelsea and Spurs.

I take it one week at a time 🙂 unsure on when to BB, but it could be a shout for sure if it makes sense for your side

I was about to make this move: swapping Son, Trippier, and Watkins for Salah, Isak, and Kilman (-4 points).

Actually it seems more sensible to just replace Watkins with Isak (or perhaps Darwin) and make the other changes next week?

    1. Lav
      • 9 Years
      2 years, 18 days ago

Why not Trippier + Watkins out for Isak and maybe a second Arsenal defender (assuming you dont have one)? Definitely hold Son for one more week

      1. Tshelby

yeah great season but I have been in a good seat all season so its hard to feel good about it when you know the chance of a top 1k like this doesnt come often and I feel it was such a bad luck week, just everything that I built up for weeks come crashing down in one week. I feel darwin will be benched and gordon had his ''rest'' now

Cheers bud, looks ok doesn’t it, I just thought it would be worthy as I can’t really be bothered prepping for it in 37 when things will likely be a bit sketchy by then anyway, plus not good doubles for clean sheets really, can focus mainly on the doubles then with main 11.
Hearing Ederson is nearing a return so all depends on Ortega really.
