I swear the standard of defending in the league has never been worse. Some of the goals yesterday were schoolboy defending, you're watching it thinking surely its obvious the attacker is going to do that. Cunha's, Kluivert's, the first two Newcastle goals, obvious the attacker is going to come inside towards goal yet for some reason the defender tries to show them inside rather than keeping them wide. Its like they've become so focused on trying to add something extra from an attacking perspective that they've forgotten how to do the basic defending.

Thinking of making three moves here. What do you think?

    Son-Saka, this is nailed.
The other two are not. I guess Muniz goes?

    Pickford
    VVD, RAN, White, Stones, Gusto
    Havertz, Foden, Palmer, Son, Garnacho
    Haaland, Isak, Muniz
    BB 37, btw.

Muniz to Cunha/Mateta/Solanke (probably that order of preference) and sacrifice a mid for Liverpool/Eze.

I’m contemplating all of Foden, Palmer and Garnacho in my post 35 team- if you can afford it, probably sacrifice Garnacho

        Thanks!

        The first idea I follow.

The third transfer would be for a hit, so, Garnacho for a LFC player could be it.

Who? Diaz? Jota? Risky as he is just back.
I guess see today what happens?

I think Diaz is becoming a mainstay of the team. I think Klopp’s comments suggest that Jota (and TAA) will be reintroduced carefully (and so Darwin and Bradley may start a little bit longer)

“I think Diogo was absolutely fine [for] 20 minutes, it helped him a lot and now we will see what we can do from there,” said Jürgen Klopp after the midweek match.

Diogo didn’t have more really but the information from the medical department is [he was a] step ahead, so he can play a little bit longer.”

Yes, Diaz is the safer pick. I would have gotten MacAllister, but he is off pens now that Salah is back sadly.

Pop quiz hotshot. Would you bench boost the 4 players below or would you use the TC instead and keep the BB chip for 4 doublers in 36?

    Net0 (Villa away; wolves away)
    Garnacho (Sheffield United home)
    Braithwaite (Forest home; Liverpool)
    Zabayni (Villa away; wolves away)

? Trick question - there are no doublers in 36.

Yeah, I'd use BB if all are fit to play, then use TC on Palmer or Haaland in 37.

Having a fully fit squad of 15 is a challenge in itself.

Those on FH - Which, if any, SGW players are you including?

I'll probably just go with Haaland and Fernandes, although I already own Isak and feel he could potentially outscore a doubler too.

Bruno (SHU) is the one in my consideration.

and Cunha + Solanke will be popular FWD and Haaland will not be a popular captain choice on DGW34. I think the risk to exclude Haaland for a week should be ok.

Isak (cpl) is interesting as he is in a red hot form, but it's away game where Newcastle somehow will be different. I think he's worth to consider.

Yeah, makes sense, although I dislike not owning a player in the last fixture of the GW, especially one as highly-owned as Haaland.

Brighton's defence is quite poor so I think it could be risky going without him.

On going in at half time just one goal down: "First of all it was us losing balls in the wrong positions. The first goal we were actually well set up but we lose the ball in a bad area and it was a goal. There were two or three more occasions where we should have dealt better with the ball.

"Then down the right side they were finding ways to hurt us and there were jobs to be done but it was not always done. Then you get problems. Go with your opponent, that is your job. One part is collaboration and the other is discipline.

"Second half was better. We took more responsibility and we closed up the sides. That also has to do with in the middle Harry Maguire was struggling in the first half, and you see we do't have many options at centre half any more. But in the second half his leadership and guidance helped us to be more closed."

Salah needs to score 13 today to make his transfer from Foden in GW30 worthwhile (this takes autosubs into account, depends on who’d have been captain in GW31 and ignores the scores in DGW34).

Players with double-barrel names on FPL are often abbreviated to three initials here - first name and two surname.
KdB VVD TAA RAN VdV MGW etc If you find one you don't know, just look up players whose two word surname begins with the middle letter.

It makes team formations a little clearer as sometimes using two surnames makes it look like you have an extra player when listing your team.

the handball pen given against Bournemouth yesterday has genuinely made me wonder whats the point in watching this game now. its reached a tipping point. its a joke. its certainly not the game I play with my friends socially in an astro league where normal, sane rules apply . this feels like a different sport altogether, one where when your in the box some chance event you have no control over can cost you. its completely ******* stupid and the people in charge should be embarrassed for letting it get to this point.

I wouldn't often say something like this but incidents like that genuinely make me question the integrity of the sport and the decision makers on the pitch. Giving it is one thing but I'm still in amazement that he made the decision so incredibly quickly.

    Only FH left.

    34 or 37?

5 doublers in the team for 34 as it stands.

Heavily (70%) in favour of waiting until 37. What I’m thinking for 34 is that it might give a big differential by going after the SU, Wolves, Palace etc players but of course it is difficult to pick players that might deliver.

Do you expect Trent back today or when do you think he features next?

2nd leg against Atalanta with full attacking team?
      Then, merseyside derby against Everton.

If that's the case it makes a big difference, you can hold because half a dgw Bradley probably offsets a hit there.

Unless you back Trent and he goes big, it is typically low scoring at Goodison Park I think in the derby. But I could be wrong.

In the past it has taken Trent several games after injury to get back to his highest level. He doesn't tend to hit the heights as soon as he's back.

            Cheers

I also think Fulham score so a move to VVD probably doesn't pay off.

4-1 to Liverpool back in 2021.

Otherwise they tend to win by 2.

Hope the Allison factor will bring CS points plus some attacking points to Bradley before Trent will be back.

No Senesi or Solanke in my wildcard team for DGW34. Would you remove any of my defenders or forwards for a -4 to get one of them?

    White Saliba Muñoz Branthwaite Ait-Nouri

    Darwin Mateta Cunha

Good point, another blank and substitution for Gakpo and I will consider it.

I think this - probably not worth it for a hit but Darwin > Solanke could pay off. I certainly wouldn’t take a hit for a defender

If Trent plays against Atlanta on Thursday, do you think he also starts against Fulham next Sunday?

On Wednesday Klopp talked about it being the longest Trent has been injured since they worked together. Don't think he does 2 starts in 3 days now we've got an able deputy.

      No

Alisson/Van Dijk seem the only reliable ones from their defence

      Otherwise it’s triple attack

That's fine for FH34 but plenty have to navigate it with transfers too.

I've got Bradley, Salah and MacA so if Bradley plays on that's good news.

Think you will get 1 game from Bradley. But if he starts on Thursday then wouldn’t be sure

Define plays? Is it a start or limited mins off the bench?

Best case scenario for getting mins after long term injury is limited mins against Palace, Atalanta and Fulham. Push for a start in the Everton game

I meant available, back fit so starting against Atlanta.

The real question is what minutes do you reckon Bradley gets across the dgw?

Currently have Bradley's xMins at 120 for 34

Is there a case for holding Muniz for the Liverpool game as he tends to score at home and has good fixtures afterwards.

For example I'd back Muniz over Mateta in gw35.

Also gives me an edge over someone close to me in a mini league who did that move last week.

Or would you just back Cunha to outscore them both, especially with the Bournemouth fixture in dgw34?

Wildcard GW35-ers with no FH ....

Are you selling Haaland for a doubler?

Playing Haaland could be a good way to beat free hitters.

Always a chance of an injury with Haaland in the FPL cup before he plays Brighton. So tough! We need the scout's help more than ever. We need the scout writers to bring their A game this week.

Provisionally for 34, ahead of WC35 I have 1 FT booked in for Son > Havertz or Ode, beyond that

    A. Play Palmer
    B. Play Semenyo if potentially fit
    C. Semenyo > Mateta or Cunha for -4 (bench Palmer)

Separately, is a -4 worth it to move one of Areola or Dubravka to a keeper that plays twice (probably Pickford)

    1. Yes
    2. No
