    So it's a flat back 6; Kane, Bellingham and Foden all trying to play in the same patch of grass, again, and Saka inshallah. The entire system untested against decent opposition, or anyone for that matter.

    Still, played with a back 3 back in 2022 in Nations League group A, where we had great success: 2 defeats to Hungary (including that one), a defeat to Italy and a draw with Germany in which we conceded 3 goals.

    Southgate starting 33yr old Trippier at right wingback over Trent is absolutely absurd. Again, overly focused on not losing rather than trying to win the game.

        Its honestly unfathomable. I thought the idea of playing wing backs was to give England some width and to get some crosses into the box but Trippier being right footed is just going to want to keep cutting back inside into congested areas. Just makes no sense. Southgate doesn't deserve to have Trent.

      Shearer to score first and Türkyilmaz to equalise a few minutes later. 1-1 FT. I don't know what happens after that though as that's as far as I've read in the Gray's Sports Almanac!
