      Pope

      Watkins Isak

Slot was talking about playing with a lone striker for the prem and Nunez is a natural striker. Gakpo is a natural winger who can play striker.

Unrelated to football but something vaguely interesting-

This is probably pretty obvious, and I hadn't given it any thought, but interestingly this works:
      15% of 30 = 4.5
      30% of 15 = 4.5

      So it always reverses.

      50% of 80 = 40
      80% of 50 = 40

I cant think how I will ever use this in real life, but who knew this honestly?

      Saka / Foden / Maddison / Nkunku / Szoboszlai
      Haaland / Isak / Pata

3-5-2 likely, 4-4-2 possible, 3-4-3 if a decent (ie better pick than Daka) turns up (maybe Breton Diaz at Southampton?)

                  Salah's last 10 matches = 3 goals and 1 assist.
Slot's system seems to keep the wingers out wide.
Evidence indicates £12.5m is far too expensive for Salah.

But why restrict to 10 game sample.

Salah is absolutely nailed on pens and has never scored less than 210 points for Liverpool.

He finished last season 6 points behind Haaland in one less game started and he’s £15m.

You may know more about Slot than me, but trust me if you have Salah on the pitch you’ll want to play to his strengths.

I never understand why every year people spend pre season trying to forget Salah is arguably the best FPL asset of all time.

There is nothing to think about, this is just what form is. You can't disagree with numbers because they don't support your argument.
KdB also had a long term hamstring injury yet managed 4 goals and 10 assists in 13 starts (AKA end of season form) since returning from this injury.

But I’m not the one picking and choosing my numbers … Why 10 games, why not 3, 5 or 15 … what makes 10 the magic number. Do pre season games count? Internationals? Why is short term form indicative of the future?

Why are your numbers any more important than the ones I set out above?

I reckon the more objective way to approach is to look more broadly. Has Salah justified a 12.5m every past season - yes. Is there sufficient evidence to suggest that will change next year - I’m not seeing it.

Plus he starts with Ipswich whilst Saka, Foden, Watkins etc are all minutes doubts.

Just get him, captain him and if he underperforms he’s a straight transfer to literally every midfielder.

I’m so confused why it’s not a no brainer

Not sure what you are getting so worked up over but I will try to explain in more basic terms.

"Why 10 games?" According to transfermarkt Salah returned from his Hamstring injury on GW28 so I used the remaining games of the season as the sample for his form.
I could have used just the final 5 games of the season if that eased your mind, but these figures were basically the same. Only 1 goal and assist in final 5 matches. Breaking it into blocks of 5 would further indicate 2 attack returns every 5 games are consistent numbers post injury.

"Why are your numbers any more important than the ones I set out above?" You used the entire season (and seasons past)... this in not recent form. Form is a select number if the most recent matches.

"Do pre season games count? Internationals?" I only used Premier League stats as this is FPL, not fantasy preseason or fantasy internationals.

I get a bit tetchy being patronised about “you can’t disagree with numbers” when I literally have a maths degree and a job entirely dependant on probability and statistics.

My question essentially boils down to why is “form” defined in the way you have the key metric and when so much time has passed in the interim why is that indicative of the future?

Because to my mind, great traits for a midfielder:

                          1. Track record of consistent goals
                          2. Track record of consistent assists
                          3. Potential for clean sheets
                          4. On penalties
                          5. Nailed
                          6. Great upcoming fixtures

No player in the game ticks all boxes to the extent Salah does, so I struggle to see how “form” is such a key metric to outweigh all of the above.

                        5. LangerznMash

Okay I get where you are coming from now.
It's the difference between track record and end of season form. I guess it's dealer's choice what is more important.
Regarding your 6 great traits, I'd say Son & KdB both meet 5/6, Son possibly all 6.
KdB had great end of season form, Son super consistent throughout.

*in all honesty I was being intentionally patronising but now knowing you have a maths degree I'll give you 'additional' respect.

Thoughts on this team? Originally had Saka and Foden instead of Son and KDB, but I am bit worried they might be eased in. Plan is to do Son to Foden in GW2. Undecided on GK.

      4.5 GK
      TAA Mykolenko Burn
      Salah (C) Son KDB Nkunku
      Watkins Isaak Wood

4.0 GK Robinson Barco 4.5 mid
