Three consistent 220+ mids; the two best fwds bar Haaland; Gvardiol.

Looks stronger than any Salah + Haaland team I’ve see posted.

Palmer is not consistent mid yet. Just one season. Wait for another season end.

Lacking Arsenal. Son is a punt for me. Could be gold but Spurs are so unpredictable.

I like it. Obviously, Son could become Saka or Foden when they are back if Son not firing. Not sure about Eze, but he can become plenty of others at / below the price point. Front three look good value. Maybe consider Burn for early NEW fixtures.

Anyone else finding it really difficult to decide on forwards? Besides Haaland, Isak, and perhaps Watkins, I'm not sure who I'd consider. It feels like there's TONS of midfield options by comparison.

Take a look at Chris Wood from Forest and Muniz from Fulham who are both 6m. Cheaper options are Armstrong from Southampton and Brighton's Joao Pedro.

There is just not many viable ones to choose from, I've been settled on Isak, Watkins, Solanke for over a week, with Wood being the the only other one that i have given serious consideration to so I could maybe have a better 4th midfielder

Presumably a part of the Olympic Anthem would play.

    Pick a combination:

    A. Trent, Saka, Eze, Watkins (bench: 4.5 FW)
    B. Gabriel, Szoboszlai, Haaland, Pedro (bench: Winks)

I’ve been leaning B for some time. But if Haaland isn’t fully fit, the rationale feels completely different

Feeling good about my team but not sure having Raya is worth it.

    Raya (ward)
    TAA Gvardiol Mykolenko (faes, Greaves)
    Salah Eze Gordon CHO (Nkunku)
    Isak Watkins Havertz

    1. Sheffield Wednesday

Will try to avoid premium keepers from the top three sides - attacker positions in those teams are too valuable given the number of goals their teams score, plus there will be defenders with some goal involvement.

      1. Big Mike
        • 4 Years
        2 years, 1 month ago

On the whole that's a good rule, but Arsenal are the obvious exception. It's true attacker positions are more valuable than defense, but it's difficult to predict who will play each week, as Arteta has multiple options available. Even Havertz isn't a guaranteed starter now Jesus is fit, and the defense has now got more potential for rotation now that Timber is fit and Calafiori has joined. So the best picks for Arsenal are either White or Raya.

        1. Sheffield Wednesday
          • 6 Years
          2 years, 1 month ago

It's more about having the flexibility to get whoever ends up firing in the outfield. Won't start the season with more than one or two Arsenal, but don't want to transfer out a keeper if a third Arsenal outfielder ends up optimal.

    2. Big Mike
      • 4 Years
      2 years, 1 month ago

Keep Raye imo. He's the cheapest route into the Arsenal defense and is the least susceptible to rotation.

I have a very similar team, but

      Raya > cheaper goalie
      TAA > Muniz
      Weaker fifth MF

Use that money to go CHO to Palmer

I kinda like my plan better, but who knows

Solid set up, but I wouldn't have a 6m striker on the bench. Plus (in my opinion) Martinez isn't the best 4.5m defender either, so my suggestion would be to downgrade Muniz to either Joao Pedro or Armstrong and upgrade Martinez to Munoz, for example.

Don’t worry just pick who you want to pick, the reality is the chances of anyone here winning the whole thing is slim to none, it’s always a randomer who just lucks it.

Your prospects for this year have nothing to do with last year. It's like the lottery, people who win don't win every week, they can play for years and then hit the jackpot.

    2. Big Mike
      • 4 Years
      2 years, 1 month ago

If I was going to go with one then it would be Salah because then you could use the 2.5m you save to strengthen other positions. Plus he's an ideal captain option as Liverpool have excellent opening fixtures, and you can pretty much afford any other midfielder in one move, as he's the most expensive.

      Hall for me.
He'll be starting leftback, he's attacking, will mix it with Gordon and he's been working on crossing/shooting.
Classic second season for a Howe player I reckon too.

Think I'd go with a 4.5 defender or Pope as 3rd Newcastle. Murphy is having a good preseason and is maybe ahead of Almiron. Newcastle are expected to sign another RW during the window. I actually quite like Willock at 5.0 as a 5th mid, and he might sneak into my squad if I don't get Gordon.

I like the look of your defense, so I wouldn't make any changes there. For your midfield I would drop Palmer and bring in Nkunku, as Maresca likes to play a 4-3-3, and Palmer played best last year as a 10 in a 4-2-3-1, so it's unlikely that he'll be as effective this year. Then I would upgrade either MGW to either Son / Saka or Andreas to Eze / Gordon.

Have a look at Daichi Kamada instead of Eze. He was brought in to replace Olise, so he should start - plus he's 1.5m cheaper than Eze which would enable you to afford Saka.

Is anyone considering Alvarez now that Haaland is a fitness concern?

Incredibly once again it only took joao Pedro 15 days to recover from injury. Search “joao Pedro 15” to see how crazy that is !

Salah to Son is the difference between a 4.5m defender and Trent...

Not if you already have both Salah and Trent

These pricey fellas, they're a load of shite if you ask me. Too boring with the old "ooooh let's cappo dinglenuts here coz he's £15m oooooohhhhhhhh". My arse.

Currently on Porro, but Gvardiol is tempting me. Rotation risk, but high ceiling if he's once again deployed as a wingback.

Who is he likely to be rotated with? He smashed it at the end of last season, so I can't see him losing his place.

    Best option?

    A) Foden + Gordon
    B) Son + Nkunku

      B

Foden may not be up to fitness for week 1 and sounds like Gordon’s head may be turned with Liverpool interest so both an avoid for me to start season

Zophar makes the case for Muñoz as an attacking threat. But . . . 4 YC in 16 starts last season and from what I saw in the Copa where he took one of the dumbest, most flagrant RC possible, I'd need to see that he's really not a complete hot-head. Also, is he be back in camp yet ?

I like him as an attacking defender but he is indeed a complete hot-head and his RC at the Copa was totally ridiculous. Maybe he'll tone it down in the EPL but his temper and lack of self control is definitely a worry.

And no, he's not in the squad for today's friendly, so I assume he's not back in camp yet.
