Fantasy EFL Gameweek 2 is almost here! To give you a head start, we’ve put together our final ‘starting’ Scout Picks. Use them as inspiration for your Gameweek 2 team, if you so wish.

Our Fantasy EFL team is set for Gameweek 2, but don’t get too comfortable! Expect twists and turns. Head over to here for the full lowdown on our picks, including the reasoning behind each selection.

JOIN OUR MINI-LEAGUE

We’ve also set up our own Fantasy Football Scout mini-league. Head to this link here to join or use the code JFV419AC after hitting ‘Join a league‘ in the Leagues section.

FANTASY EFL: GAMEWEEK 2 SCOUT PICKS

GOALKEEPER

Anthony Patterson (2.4%)

Patterson shone in net for Sunderland in Gameweek 1 against Cardiff City away from home. He made four saves, which contributed to the clean sheet his side were able to earn. The nine-point return was too hard to ignore, as the Black Cats host Sheffield Wednesday up next. Despite the Owls beating relegation-tipped Plymouth Argyle 4-0, we fancy Sunderland to continue winning ways in the Championship. However, given Wednesday’s attacking force, Patterson is likely to be kept busy. This could translate to additional save points, making him an appealing Fantasy goalkeeper option.

DEFENDERS

Vitinho (6.8%)

The out-of-position trend is gaining momentum! Vitinho’s exceptional performance for Burnley against Luton Town has sparked interest. Deployed on the wing, he netted a massive 13 points thanks to a goal, three clearances, seven tackles and a full 90 minutes. With Cardiff City up next, who suffered a defeat in their opening game, the potential for another standout performance from Vitinho is undeniable. He’s wearing the vice-captain’s armband too…

Luke Ayling (12.6%)

Middlesbrough’s full-back impressed in Gameweek 1, delivering a solid performance in their 1-0 victory over Swansea City. With five clearances (+1 point) and six tackles (+3 points), he contributed significantly to the clean sheet and his 11-point return. While he is the fourth most selected defender, his ownership is lower than big-name options like Ethan Ampadu (32.5%) and Anel Ahmedhodzic (22.6%).

MIDFIELDERS

Luke Molyneux (6.5%)

Doncaster Rovers’ number seven was a standout performer in Gameweek 1, delivering a sensational 19-point haul, the highest among midfielders. His two goals (+12 points), assist (+3 points), two key passes (+1 point) and two shots on target (+1 point) helped Donny to a dominant 4-1 victory. Additionally, 6.5% ownership feels remarkably low and the upside could be huge.

Alex Gilbey (0.9%)

A potential differential pick with a mere 0.9% ownership, Gilbey still managed to deliver an impressive 11-point haul for MK Dons despite their opening-day defeat. Featuring for 90 minutes, a goal and other vital bonus attacking contributions highlight his potential. With an away tie against Colchester United, Gilbey could go under the radar in Gameweek 2.

FORWARD

Alfie May (35%)

Alfie May is our first forward pick. With Blackburn’s Sammie Szmodics likely leaving for Ipswich Town, May is the ideal replacement. It’s no surprise he’s the second most-owned player in Fantasy EFL. Despite a quiet overall performance, his nine-point haul against Reading, including three key passes and two shots on target proved the Blues’ talisman is ready to shine. After their draw, we expect Birmingham to secure a win at Adams Park.

Oscar Esutpinan (1.7%)

Estupinan completes our Gameweek 2 team. With significantly low ownership and an impressive eight-point haul in Gameweek 1, including a goal, he’s a strong contender for another big return. As Tim Walter’s go-to man, Estupinan is expected to be a key goal threat throughout this season for the Tigers.

CLUB PICKS

Following our Scout (player) Picks, we’ve opted for a high-risk, high-reward strategy by selecting two away teams again, following our success last week. This approach aims to capitalise on the potential for +2 bonus points per win. For a deeper dive into our reasoning, check out our full EFL guide.

HULL CITY

The Tigers might only be the 13th most popular pick this weekend (3.5%) but we’re backing them to claim three points at Plymouth Argyle and avenge last season’s loss at Home Park. Combined with our Estupinan pick, we’re feeling confident about a Tigers win and a sweet +2 points for us!

MK DONS

The Dons kick off their away campaign this weekend with a trip to Colchester United. With an unbeaten record against the U’s last season, including a thrilling 3-2 win on their turf, we’re confident the Dons can secure another three points. We’re hoping for another goal-packed clash to secure those +2 points for scoring two or more goals!

FINAL TOP TIPS

Master the opening weekend with our essential Gameweek 2 Guide. From Scout Picks and captaincy advice and top player picks, our guide has everything you need to dominate Gameweek 2. Don’t forget the deadline is Friday 20:00 BST!

I really don't think you can have a well balanced team with both Salah and Haaland.

Rogers seems a solid pick, also his price could rly rise a lot and quickly if he hits the ground running.

You are wrong but what you can do is have them both take a few risks, go for a strong start, and know you will have to WC by 3 or 4. It’s not an awful strategy and could work. Gotta to factor the wc may not be as valuable this season with the changes to transfers.

My gut has been telling me Nkunku but I think because of pens and better GW1 fixture maybe go Eze to start and can always go down to Nkunku quickly for as soon as GW2 if needed. (Debating the same thing, and would rather just nail it then have to use a transfer to correct it, so i feel you). Does depend on what that 0.5 can do elsewhere in your team too though, which may sway it for me in the end

Hi all - been reading articles and hulked posts for a bit but first venture into the comments for the season!

Have to say the thing I’m looking forward to most is, now that transfers roll with WCs, there won’t be an estimated 74,017,433 questions across the season asking if transfers roll with WCs. Actually, still might be.

On a more serious note, this pattern… Werner, N. Jackson, Nkunku.

Playing this season where you can only make changes in the transfer windows. Aside from that, you're locked in (no transfers, no subs, no captaincy changes). Riding with this for the first 3 weeks. Banking 5 transfers makes it's great.

    Pope
    Gvardiol, Porro, Munoz
    Son, Gordon, Jota, Nkunku
    Haaland (c), Isak, Wood

    Fabianksi, Rogers, Robinson, Barco

Bar the keeper, I reckon it's a pretty strong bench. Wood Vs Muniz will come down to the wire too.

Ah, I just copped, you can't change the first 11 but auto subs are okay. We thinking it would be hard to keep track 🙂

    2. Deulofail
      • 10 Years

I think Barco and Rogers are a mistake in this format. Better to pick nailed players for your bench

      1. Mr. O'Connell
        • 13 Years
        1 year, 6 months ago

Yeah Barco is pretty poor imo, but a 3rd sub. Brighton in general pretty substandard in FPL terms so usually avoid.

Hopefully after 3 weeks I'm not needing my 3rd sub. Any alternatives to Rogers (up to 5.5m)? ESR looks like a wait and see atm and think he'll get less mins that Rogers tbh.

Interesting. I think ESR is nailed, while Rogers isn’t. Andreas would be a good alternative. Elanga is an option. More nailed than CHO. Maybe go for a 4.5 and upgrade Barco instead, with 0.5 to spare

Hi guys. Sorry for the long post, first time posting here and first time playing FPL as well, so I could use some help.
I'm thinking of Sels as GK. Is he too much of a risk? I thought of Henderson but I already have a Palace defender. Also, best choice for a 4.0 GK?
In defence I'm thinking of going with Porro, Munoz and rotate between Robinson and Mykolenko. I understand that Barco is the best 4.0 as a fifth option, is that so?
    Midfield/Attack is the real headache.
At first I came up with
    Palmer Saka Bruno Jota Eze
    Isak Solanke Muniz
I realise that I miss the top two players of the game, but I don't mind that, I have enough captaincy options and I'll take the risk. My problem is rotation. I could bench either Palmer or Muniz in GW1, but after that it's not clear who should be left out. How would you go around that problem, would you downgrade one of them - if yes, which one - use the money somewhere else and play the other seven?

      I'd sell Muniz.

Thanks, ideas for a replacement? Where would that money be better spent? Any comments on my other questions?
