    What to do with Quansa??
Do you reckon he'll start next game or is he done?

I doubt he starts the next game after Slot's comments. Was complimentary on Konate too. Plus Brentford are a physical team and Konate is a good matchup for that fixture.

Probably not someone you can rely on going forward. Only sell if you absolutely have to though.

I have Ben Johnson and Hall also so kinda need to fix the mistake I think, otherwise I have no safe cover.

Similar situation here. Question is, who do we swap him for?
Only candidates for me are Robinson & Konsa

Robinson is tempting. I like to have defenders with at least some attacking threat.

Yeah that's a tough one. I probably would sell Quansah for a nailed option. Robinson looked okay. (Partly saying this as I have him.)

With Hall & Johnson there's still chances they continue starting. Although for next week a bit up in the air.

Hoping Hall did enough to get another start. And maybe Ipswich will play more attacking against slightly easier opposition so Johnson gets a chance. We'll see.

Apparently Kelly played well when he came on for him. But Hall played 70 mins and they didn't concede. Would be harsh if he lost his spot following a 10 man slog to victory so not too concerned but you never know.

My advice for the Newcastle game would be to read absolutely nothing from it

Going down to 10 men in GW1 will kill any manager's plans. Assume everything Howe did post-RC was a reaction to the game state. We know nothing for now

there's somethings to maybe take away from that game. Like Southampton potentially being whipping boys. I didn't watch it yet, but they were 0-0 when they went down to 10 right, then scored and kept a CS. Impressive from Newcastle.

Probably a reaction to his 70th minute sub

But the lad was on a yellow card, and they were in siege mode with 10 men. Wouldn't be bothered by that

      1. Think Konaté has usurped him.
2 so eventually need to sell
      3. Most importantly 4.5m defender is never a spot you need too many points from. I wouldn’t sacrifice a transfer on him if you need to correct a more expensive position.

I’m in the same spot and don’t have very good cover at all given Barco benching. But making sure I have the right two premium forwards and two premium midfielders I think is a better use of a transfer, at least in my case. He’ll probably wait until WC and I’ll accept a bit of a price drop.

    Appreciate that
    a) I’m biased (as have Jota and not Salah)
    b) ITFC were always going to have a good 1st half a home
    c) it’s one game plus great fix to come…..AND
    d) with 200+ points year in year out eye test doesn’t mean much (he’s an FPL points machine)……BUT

    …..Having watched ITFC/LIVE @ PR today… I’d say Jota +5m saving = more dangerous than Sala…..

I'm in the same situation as you. It really depends how the other 5m is performing, and how Jota is too (might not even start some)!

Both are viable, for now 🙂

I wouldn’t view it as a comparison. Both great in their own right, but I think it’s more of a squad structure point than a man to man comparison. So how many premium midfielders do you want to have vs a higher number of mid priced players. I think that’s the key question.

Who is on your radar now that wasn't before. Sensible answers....no jerky knees please? 😀

I think I'm looking seriously at Mitoma. Didn't read his name once on these pages in preseason. Was gold 2 seasons ago and they have great immediate fixtures. Always passes the eye test...

I deleted everyone off my pre-season watch list then added everyone who scored/assisted or looked good so far. Mitoma, Fernandes, Maatsen, and Semenyo probably interest me the most, but doubt I get any of them anytime soon.

Didn't watch West Ham, but I will be keeping an eye on Bowen too.

Ye Semenyo interests me too, especially if he gets minutes up front.

Brereton Diaz looked dangerous again but hard to know against 10 men

Solanke leaving should benefit Semenyo. Just depends how good Evanilson is in the PL. Who will start next week up front.

It is such an obvious move as to be almost an essential serious player move.
Obviously the casuals will be doing it after his first haul for -4's n 8's probably.

I need to see his next game first. Solanke has annoying fixtures by then so he is a possibility. Havertz is affordable with one trensfer for me. Haaland to Watkins and Salah in either gw3 or 4 are in plans l. But many things can change before that.

You can move a lot because of it being the first week. TM's estimate is probably fair, but I don't think you will get 500k. More like a 900k - 1mill IMO. Gonna be loads with Haaland caps, and loads with triple spurs which could be high scoring.

Haaland doesn't do much for you. His EO was close to 85-90% imo. Braces for both mids, and Hendo pen save might get you high 😉 supposing Son, Porro and Solanke fail. Livefpl has what if -tool to check these. Not sure it works in advance though.

Is anyone thinking about selling Haaland after GW4 to avoid Arsenal and Newcastle and take the opportunity to buy premium mids instead like Foden, Saka, etc? I haven't given it much though tbh, but thats kind of my plan and I am hoping to save all the transfers for it. I don't think those 2 fixtures are terrible, but equally, I wasn't planning to have Salah/Haaland forever.

Yeah, very rough plan was to sell for Watkins in GW4 and use money to upgrade to Foden etc…..if Haaland returns first few games, I’ll probably bottle it

      1. have you seen cyan
        • 7 Years

Yea thats the problem. After those 2 games, City have nice fixtures again so its risky making that transition at the wrong time. It might be too soon, better to wait and see as you said. If Haaland is in robot mode then screw that.

Avoiding Newcastle should not be such a thing as far as the eye test goes.
Saints were dominant in that game from the get go as it transpired they could not finish their dominance and energy into the victory and gifted the ten men a goal from nothing.
Very disappointed Saints couldn't provide the cutting edge to a very average Newcastle at their supposed fortress.
That Saudi blood money don't scare me any more, even though I still won't turn up at one of their embassies looking for a passport any day soon.

It's under consideration, both players would be taken out of their tough respective fixtures... AVL (a) and NEW (a), whilst the other two go into easy one IPS (h), CRY (h).

I also dodge their GW4 clash (TOT V ARS), but Son and Saka scored in this fixtures on both occasions home and away.

Some reflections on the Liverpool game: I was pretty confident Robbo would start, but the uncertainty meant I chickened out starting with him. I own Quansah and think it is too hasty to say he won't start next week. Slot is someone who proactively develops young players and I would say is better than Klopp at ensuring young players do not lose confidence and he tries to develop them. Grav was excellent in the pivot with Mac who wasn't quite there first up. Diaz was his usual wasteful self and showed yet again why he isnt an FPL asset IMO. He is good with the ball at his feet but with little end product. Jota is clinical and I'm peeved I didn't start with him. Salah was good without being outstanding. He got a toe poke somewhat lucky goal - I own and captained him - everyone needs to calm down before they start tearing their teams apart already.

I was really impressed with Ipswich. Davis, Tuanzabe and Hutchinson look like they could be viable FPL assets. They look like they will be a fun team to watch all season and dare I say better for the casual than some of the other promoted teams we have seen recently.

All in all good start for Liverpool.

Any thoughts on Szoboszlai? I think he is becoming a potential option, if for example, someone like Jota starts getting rotated.

yeah he was good and I think will be more of an option this year than last. He is playing in his natural position and doing those late runs into the box. He could become an option at some stage, my only thing with him is Salah and others are hogs - in a good way - and they don't really cut the ball back all that much so not sure he gets the goal scoring opportunities he could with different players around him. Jota also drops back into a position he runs into sometimes as well. I think Darwin up top and maybe Gakpo playing up top may suit him better than Jota Salah Diaz, but that's just my sense about the way they cut in and move around the box.

Thanks for the insight. I am liking these potentially sneaky routes into big teams, like him, Rodrigo, and Rice.

      Well assessed!

I think if Haaland is outscored by Salah in the first two gameweeks, we may see people moving towards Salah.

By then, City will have their fully fit team back so it may be a huge mistake.

Sadly having Saka, Salah & Haaland does not provide good team structure.

Diaz the one to sell first for me over Jota you think?

If you started with Diaz and Jota you may just have to enjoy the wild ride. Maybe give it 1 more unless urgent action needed.

Definitely, Diaz always flatters to deceive and seems to lack a bit of composure and end product. I'm sure the stats back this up and he has a much lower ppm and rarely gets bonus points. Jota's major flaw is the fact that he is so injury prone. Might as well enjoy him while you can and play him until he breaks

Quansah out if there is price drop?
can afford to bench him till GW5 or so, but suspect it will be near impossible to find a replacement for 4.4m at that point

Bench him. Seeing a lot of worries about 0.1 price drops, but almost certainly going to be an injury to a premium/mid-price player or a budget enabler emerging that will help free up cash in coming weeks

Worth moving Bowen out for Jota, or is that a little bit knee-jerky? OFC Salah is the one I really want, but it means ripping up my team to do so.

Unless Bowen had a stinker today, I probably wouldn't sell him. Tough decision though, I can see why your tempted. Bowen is however 100% nailed.

Looking more likely that I’ll be playing Robinson over gabriel next game. Let’s see how Leicester fares first
