Seeing a lot of people going for a WC in GW4.

Team dependent but I think GW6 is also a really good time to hit the trigger. Brentford, Arsenal, Chelsea and even Forest have excellent fixtures.

Going to cover Liverpool with Diaz and TAA(already have Jota).

I don't want to wildcard in GW6 for two mid-table and one lower-table team.

That being said, I have just wildcarded, LOL!

I’ve wildcarded for GW4, will have 5FTs by GW6 & will just tweak what I need to tweak to bring it in line, I’ll have a lot of those teams now though.

WC gw 4 is only good if you don't have Liverpool imo...

Get to 3 Liverpool, and I can't see any upside wildcarding now.
GW6 has more upside potential I think

Chelsea/Villa have good fixtures gw4 + but Watkins not fully firing yet and Chelsea we don't know enough (Palmer yes, but he might be too expensive this season).

I will most likely save my FT's unless international injuries occur but looking ahead I can only have one arsenal attacker.

Which is better (got 2m itb) ?

    A. Isak to Harvertz (allows me to get arsenal defender the week after)
    B. Isak & Winks to 4.5 & Saka (no chance of arsenal defender in near future)
    C. Isak & Gordon to Pedro & Saka (allows me to get arsenal defender the week after)

    It's probably A or C, isn't it?

Saka scored home and away against Spurs last year, Havertz hauled away, there’s usually goals in the game.

Arsenal defenders kept two clean sheets against City last year.

The colour coded fixture list is an enemy of the fantasy manager.

If folks already own and have other fires, Arsenal picks are fine to hold. Just don't think I would be going there for the next 2 games imo.

Sure, I get that, you wouldn’t use a FT on them but at the same time, if you own them, you also don’t need to panic.

I started with Salah & Trent and looking to add one more but usually south American players don't start in the PL games straight after their Internationals which is stopping me getting Diaz in gw4

    Would you WC:

    Henderson/Bentley
    TAA/Gabriel/Konsa/Robinson/Johnson
    Saka/Jota/ESR/Murphy/Rogers
    Haaland/Isak/Wood

    to:

    4.5/4.0
    TAA/Robo/4.5/4.5/4.0
    Salah/Eze/Semenyo/Minteh/Rogers
    Haaland/Isak/Pedro

    or hold until GW6?

    Is Salah really that necessary?

    A) Salah + Rogers
    B) Saka + Diaz (Rogers 8th attacker)

B allows me to keep Saka and I'd still have triple Liverpool. It also probably allows me to keep Eze and ditch one of Jota/Diaz for Mbeumo in GW6. The team balance seems better in B. But A has Salah and the captaincy in GW5 is a big deal.

    1. Heskey Time
      • 11 Years

Same dilemma for me. No doubt next two weeks favor Salah and I would also captain in 5. I would almost certainly want Saka back in 6. For the me the Saka to Salah move is a -4 this week which is making me unsure too. The need for a week 5 captain is huge so I think I will end up doing it in all honesty

GW5 makes not having Salah tough indeed and I could live with Havertz while not having Saka. Said that, I totally can't make my mind, made a huge mistake last week by going Nkunku to Rogers over Diaz (had enough ITB...).

I know hence the Salah importance. WC6 can balance their team any way they like and you'll have to hope that you don't lose much then.

Saka is one double digit haul away from being essential. If Palmer gets one again so is he. End of the day Pool have the best premium defenders ie CS plus attacking and id personally want their defense + haaland + saka + palmer more than haaland. Can easily captain one of these 3 which means id probably lose 2 to 3 points per week not owning Salah but can make that up with a premium defense and good mid priced mids

Comfortable captaining Diaz after midweek UCL or default to Haaland v Arsenal?

If you've owned both Salah and Haaland from the start and you've captained Salah in gw1 backed up with a few decent enablers then chances are you would in top 50k with with 3FT's

If you are wildcarding GW6, then you can easily get Saka back....I have 3m ITB and will do Saka to Salah once the IB is over....no point doing anything now as injuries can happen anytime.

Why are people doing early transfer to bring in Salah when he is off on international duty? Injuries can happen as well. Aren't we taking a huge risk just to save 0.1 price rise?

Thinking of wildcarding to get Salah in alongside Haaland.

Raya to Verbruggen (or whoever we deem the best 4.5)
    Quansah to Trent
Porro to Rico Lewis (might catch a couple of price rises and switch to a 4.5)
    Saka to Salah
    Garnacho to Semenyo
    Isak to Havertz

    Gives me:

    Verbruggen, Valdimarsson
    Saliba, Robinson, Trent, Lewis, Harwood-Bellis
Salah, Jota, Rogers, Smith Rowe, Semenyo
    Haaland, Havertz, Joao Pedro

    Thoughts?

To my mind that isn’t an improvement. There’s isn’t an 8.5 mid who’s better than Jota when he’s fit so all that’s doing is downgrading my team. I’d rather have three budget mids who play and decide who to bench each week than have one I’ll never play.

Quick one, can someone help me understand xG. Mazaroui had a shot within the 18 yard box that megged VVD and was parried by Ally. Any reason why his xG is only 0.08 for the LIV game? I'm understanding that if that scenario was re-run 100 times he'd only be expected to score 8 times?

distance to goal, angle to goal, body part with which the shot was taken, and type of assist or previous action (through ball, cross, set-piece, dribble, etc…). Based on historical information of shots with similar characteristics, the xG model then attributes a value between 0 and 1 to each shot that expresses the probability of it producing a goal.

Hmm, I thought that was quite a decent opportunity, strong foot, inside 18 yard box, within width of 6 yard box, through a defenders legs (unsighted GK or potential for a deflection)

Personally think to much money in defence. Downgrade in defence maybe Saliba to a 4m and rogers to Mbeumo.

        • 9 Years

Initially I thought that, but I look at Trent & Porro as midfielders (LIV & TOT fixtures are great - more so for TOT after ARS) and Saliba is a season 'keeper.

I do want Mbeumo, but not for the next 2 GWs. Happy to downgrade Raya to Ramsdale or Kepa and bank 1.1 or 1.0 to upgrade ESR to someone like Minteh. I also flirted with Saliba to Timber (back to back starts with early benchings - might protect clean sheets like we saw with White last season) to free up another 0.5M which would allow ESR/Semenyo to Mbeumo in 2GWs?

I think it's just ESR that hasn't looked convincing yet. But I appreciate he can pop in the box anytime and score. I'm not a Porro guy, just always expect Spurs to concede so I go down to 4.5 for similar picks, but I get it. Fun to watch and looks like he can G/A any match! You've got me seriously considering Wood from GW6

      1. Zenith UK
        • 9 Years
        1 year, 7 months ago

So, I can do ESR to Minteh, but I'm hoping ESR rises once before then to bank the extra 0.1M before I do that.

Porro I hear you, I think he gives a much bigger fear factor, but at least I can downgrade if he doesn't go off, his fixtures after Arsenal just look too good for me.

        Wood gives wood.

I lean Minteh there if possible. Then again I might be too bought in on Brighton right now!

And definitely, upside to high pointing the price points is you can always get out in one move. That's part of my Palmer/Diaz logic

        For example;
MCI v BRE on 14th Sept (Lewis to start?)
MCI v Watford - originally scheduled for 17th Sept but will be moved now
MCI v Inter on 18th Sept (Walker to start?)
MCI v ARS on 22nd Sept (This one I'm unsure, might be too close for back-to-back for Walker, but does Lewis have the experience to play this fixture?)
Watford game maybe rescheduled for midweek here around 24/25?
MCI v NEW on 28th Sept (Lewis to start?)
MCI v Slovan Bratislava on 1st Oct (Walker to start?)

        Last two might switch round.

Lewis is not playing RB .
He's playing box to Box midfielder in a 3241 formation.
Walker can't play that position and it's unlikely pep is going to switch up a winning formula any time soon.
Lewis should be safe starter for a while , sharing with kovacic and Rodri. And only swapping to a Walkeresque back 4 when dearly defending a lead.

People, who would you rather have? Eze or Robertson (have Trent)?

I’m quite torn on this one, not really sure that I want a 5.5 & Rogers so can upgrade the 5.5 or keep my structure at the back.

Interesting. Assuming you already have Salah, I'd say Eze.

        In both scenarios

        Midfield will be

        Salah, Saka, Eze, Rogers
        Trent, Dunk, Robinson, Lewis, 4m

        Or

        Salah, Saka, ESR, Rogers
        Trent, Robertson, Robinson, Lewis, 4m

Yeah, Trent, Robbo, Salah & J Pedro.

I’ll be honest, ESR will probably be Semenyo & I’ll ride out his trip to Anfield, his stats are surprising.

I already have Salah and worried about Jota's minutes especially with the Champions league and Armstrong keeps getting subbed off early

    TAA, Lewis, Robinson (Greaves, Mosquera)
    Salah, Palmer, Diaz, Semenyo (Rogers)

I don't like the double BHA forwards personally. Mad how much of a difference having Palmer in kills the rest of your team (GKs + 2 x 4.0M def). Fact you're holding all transfers means you're laughing if you pull the trigger now though, fair play!

Cheers! Yeah going Mbeumo/Eze instead of Palmer does let me upgrade everywhere else! Just feels silly to bring in Brentford for City away but maybe appropriate for team balance

I mean maybe for this week do it as you've laid out (BHA do have two great fixtures next) then you could always do Palmer > ? and BHA FWD > ? in 2 GWs I guess?

                I posted last article it's something like;

Last season 62% shots on target, 22% conversion
This season 66% shots on target, 33% conversion

Just incredible and the sample size isn't exactly small anymore. And of course nearly braced yesterday! Didn't realize the run from 6 is so decent too. Maybe I can live without Havertz and it's bring in Wissa/Wood or even both

Thank you. Yes, exactly, I haven't mapped out the money but it'll be probably 3-4 of Saka, Mbeumo, Havertz, Wissa come in!

              • 9 Years

Palmer > Saka is about 0.5
BHA > Wissa is about 0.5
Diaz > Mbeumo is about 0.5
I can't see you getting Havertz unless you downgraded Trent, but then you're stretching all your transfers.

    2. LAMELA_AND_CONSUELA
      • 8 Years

In this setup I do not think that you need both Rogers and Semenyo. You may just downgrade one of them to improve defence and/or goalkeeper or Welbeck (to Wissa). Otherwise one of the best threemium team I have noticed here.

        • 8 Years

Thank you! Tentatively I'd play Rogers in 5 (WOL) when Semenyo has Liverpool away. 50/50 on whether to play Semenyo (CHE) or Rogers (EVE) in 4. But anyways that's currently the logic for why I didn't go 4.5 there

    Henderson | Valdimarsson
Gabriel Porro Robinson Pau | Harwood
Palmer Saka Jota Eze | Winks
    Haaland Pedro Muniz*
    0.9 ITB | 1 FT

    I could:
    A. Do nothing and save the FT
    B. Attempt to get Salah for GW 4-8 replacing Saka. The difference comes from downgrading Jota to one of
    i. Rogers
    ii. Semenyo

If B, I'd prioritise putting out fires with the IB, so don't worry on that count.

You must answer a question who will be your capitan next GW. If Salah then Saka and Jota to Salah and Semenyo looks the most viable option.

Curious to hear thoughts on whether or not you feel this is WC territory. Got plenty itb so can move Saka out for Mo or focus on Eze perhaps. Plan up until now has been WC6 but I'm wavering. Eze, Pedro, triple Pool all missing and feeling impatient with a few I currently own.

    Henderson
    Trent, Robinson, Munoz
    Saka, Gordon, ESR, Rogers
    Muniz, Haaland, Isak

    (4.0, Gabriel, Sangare, Johnson)

Your problems are perhaps Munoz, ESR, and Muniz but I wouldn’t call it wildcard territory.

Thanks for your thoughts. I have been focused on getting Mo in for GW4 but am actually wondering if ditching a mid for Eze is the play given ill be captaining Haaland. Will have a think during IB, long way to go until the GW4 DL. WC6 would be preferable given the fixture swings in that window.

I've made plenty of blunders this season - Barco, Hall and Ben Johnson in defence, Nkunku, Solanke and then Mateta - But my Liverpool triple up of Salah, Jota, TAA along with Haaland have somehow got me into the top 500k, with two playing defenders for the past two weeks.

Any advice on how to proceed here? I'm thinking a straight forward swap of Hall > Dunk but I am tempted to wildcard to get rid of the rest of the duds. I know the sensible thing is to wait until GW6 though....

    Henderson
    TAA, Robinson, Hall
    Salah, Jota, Rogers, ESR
    Haaland, Isak, Mateta

    Bentley, Winks, Johnson, Barco

    1ft 1.3itb

    Any advice appreciated

I would just get a nailed defender. Mateta will have two weeks to work on his fitness, so he may come good.

Sitting comfy ontop of my mini leagues but no Salah for the next 2 fixtures. I fancy Brighton players for next 2 also.

What do you think of the below moves for a -4. 0M ITB.

    A. Saka > Diaz
    B. Quansah > Robertson

    Current Team

    Hendersen
    Gabriel / Munoz / Johnson
    Saka / Palmer / Jota / Rogers / Eze
