I voted for Mbeumo© this week - but of course I went Haaland© and MbeumoⓋ. I don't like thinking about how many more points my vice captain has outscored Haaland© these past four weeks. Gone from OR 20k+ -> 200k+ instead of to top 1k if switched that captaincy around.

This is what having Haaland limits what we do. At that price we are almost locked in every time and obligated to captain him (otherwise what’s the point in owning), and blinds us from being able to take that captaincy to someone else.

Actually looking forward to going without, so many options to choose from, it’s also more exciting!

Going forward I have Haaland, Son, Palmer & Mbeumo so captaincy choice will favour the one with the easiest home fixture.

Which means I still would have captained Haaland this week.

Case in point. I brought in Haaland in GW6 and captained him. 3 blanks. My VC hit for 10(Salah), 8(Havertz), and 12(Salah) x 2. 60 points. That doesn't include the assets I couldn't afford (hello Cold Palmer) because I bought Haaland.

You only subtract the difference between the two options without doubling, so 30 - 6 = 24 points difference had you had captained your VC for those three weeks.

Very happy with my 30 points from Captain Mbeumo, and still have Palmer, Salah and N. Jackson to come plus 4 others who haven't played yet.
Haaland teams could suffer alot this GW.

I'm nowhere near as good rank as you but went raul instead of wissa who I really wanted in my team so that I could afford diaz to son. in the end son was injured so I went diaz to foden ( 🙁 ) meaning I could have afforded wissa.... just bad luck. haaland could have hauled in this game.

I said last night one of the reasons why I'm looking at going haaland less is so I'm not 'held hostage' by him in my team. I also had mebeumo VC this week & saka VC vs Southampton but when got haaland for that price you feel like have to C otherwise what's point being in the team

The haalandless teams I'm competing against l are smashing it. Got three other premiums so always have good C choice. This week got palmer C. & a couple did mebeumo

They didn't panick after his hatricks & said he wasn't going to keep it up & admire them for sticking with their startergy

    2 FT. 2.5m ITB

    Flekken
    Gabriel Porro Lewis
    Palmer Saka Mbuemo Rogers
    Haaland Raul DCL
    Fabianski // Semenyo Mykolenko Greaves

Was looking at doing something like:
    Saka/Lewis > Salah/Ait Nouri

But obviously the likes of Flekken, DCL and Semenyo are stinking up the joint. DCL with a good next (three!!) fixture(s) but still been pants.

    Alternatively:
    Haaland/Semenyo > Cunha/Salah
    (GW11: Saka>Johnson / DCL>Solanke)

    What would you do?
(Semenyo & RAN on 4 YCs too!)

    Best move for this backline?

    Pope (Turner)
Konate Robinson Faes (Van den Berg Greaves)

    A) Pope -> 5.0 or less keeper (who?)
    B) Greaves -> RAN/Lewis/Dalot
    C) None

Initial plan was Pope to Pickford, but it’s not like anyone is keeping cleans. On the other hand all 4 of my healthy defenders have decent fixtures.

Is this a hold or is there a good transfer to be made here?

    1. _Greg

Gonna call it - I think Cunha is a bad choice

His team has 2pts from 9, and they were lucky to get the 2nd one last night.

He costs more than all the other options in the price range that are playing for better teams.

But the fixtures! DCL had the fixtures. Let’s pay 0.6 more for new exciting fixtures!

I’m ok with getting RAN because he’s cheap and playing OOP but there are so many better options than Cunha. Not even sure he’s worth the 1m extra over his own strike partner

    1. mixology
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I’ve similar thoughts. Have been telling myself this, but he’s hardly more expensive than Wood. Yes- he’s .8 million more than the likes of Raul/Wissa but we’re talking less than a million. Certainly not a Haaland-esque price difference from his peers.

    2. Boberella
      • 9 Years
      1 year, 5 months ago

Regardless of fixtures (even though Cunha has had the harder ones)…
      Last 5 games:
      Cunha = 30 pts
      DCL = 9 pts

Irrelevant to me how many PL points wolves have got. If cunha is averaging 6 ppg then I’m happy to have him at 6.5m.

    3. chocolove
      • 15 Years
      1 year, 5 months ago

9 gw, Wolves always score. Cant say they are really bad.
A lot of team cant score as many as them.
That why Ait-Nouri and a striker will suit their blue fixture

    4. F4L
      • 11 Years
      1 year, 5 months ago

cunha is a very good player though. got a hat trick at stamford bridge last season. does well in the bonus and with fixtures will rise 0.3+

9 good fixtures. if he can get 43-ish points, which is likely imo then its a success. not expecting the world, but can see him staying in touch with the solanke/isak/jackson/watkins of the world with that run

      pens as well.

    5. Scratch
      • 16 Years

Not sure how you could say he's a bad choice. Not someone i'm looking at right now but certainly not a bad pick.

And as probably already mentioned, Wolves have had THE most difficult opening fixtures to date.
He's definitely in the conversation with Wood, Welbeck, Raul etc

    6. PartyTime
      • 4 Years
      1 year, 5 months ago

I agree with you to an extent, unfortunately, confirmation bias makes me pick him having only bought Watkins. Can’t ignore his performance in my team last season even though I shouldn’t let this affect my decision.

Watkins -> Cunha + extra £ should pay dividends.

      1. Shultan
        • 9 Years
        1 year, 5 months ago

        Don't think he's a bad pick
Wolves have 2 points because they've played all the top teams bit still cunha has scored 4 goals

Over his next 9-10 fixtures I do think he'll do well as wolves do score goals. They concede too b

Also Sala if he plays and whom I ditched for Foden. If Saka plays and returns he will get back in my team right away.

Porro, Arsenal defence and Diaz will be the fear for me today given ownership levels. I survived Haaland and Watkins yesterday. I have all of Saka (if he plays), Salah, Palmer (C), Trent and Havertz to play so I'm hopeful of a good day.

Cunha. More involved so more likely to get assists/bonus.

Wissa 30 goals 12 assists in only 5,747 minutes of pl football

Thats 42 g+a in roughly 64 games (Nearly 2 pl seasons)

Keep in mind apart from last season he wasn't even getting regular game time

With minutes now guaranteed with Toney exit i think he is easily the best budget forward in the game sub 6.5m

    Agree?

Nice. Great run of fixtures for Brentford and with everyone and their dog owning Boomo you are not actually gaining anything from Brentford attack

The great thing about brentford is their entire setup is built to provide chances for Mbeumo and Wissa. They both will get around 70% of the goal involvement

        2. Eze Really?

          1 year, 5 months ago

I tend to pick a draft at the start of the season.
Both Cunha and Wissa were in it. I had to wait for Cunha and I chose Wissa GW1 after he got injured I moved him on.

      • 12 Years

Yes, he was playing mostly on the left with Toney and also Maupay had like 13 starts last season.
The time to get him was last week imo(I did). The club record signing is coming back from injury, he already is training on grass.
He should be good for a few weeks but then things might change.

    3. Eze Really?

      Good analysis mate.
I have to choose him or Cunha when downgrading Haaland to Salah.

Yeah, I'm also considering letting Haaland go. The team I could afford without him is far superior. I think I could live if he averages 10 points per game. Due to lack of FTs I'll have to keep him for BOU(a) BHA(a) and maybe TOT(h), which I don't mind as I think the later two will be open games.

Mainly from hope that anything Palace do will come through him...

As a Palace fan, there isn't a single one of their players I would want at this time. The manager can't even settle on a starting 11.

Eze will be gone next week in that case.
