Those who havent sold haaland yet, are you still planning to sell? If yes when? If no, why?

Not sure if planning to sell, atm he's a hold.

Why? Kdb coming back helps and he generally plays well vs better teams so could well see him go on another crazy run like only him and salah can. If he does that and you don't have him it's a rank killer.

Will small gains elsewhere by spreading cash have as big an impact? I doubtful atm

I don't make plans, I already own Salah, Palmer, Trent, Mbuemo.
My only weakness is McNeil who I can upgrade to Saka if I sold Haaland but I don't think it's worth it

After Spurs is the plan, but a rage transfer after Brighton is not excluded. There is no amount of goals he can score for me to keep him beyond Spurs.

No current plan to sell him. Already have Salah and will have Palmer in GW12. I could do Salah to Saka in GW13, but will decide when that comes around.

He's just staying in my squad regardless, I think.

      1. He will get points guaranteed, he's been pretty unlucky.

      2. Selling him and then inevitably getting him back will be a pain in the arse, involving wasting a few transfers, moving players about etc.

Fair. Doesn't help the argument conflating league position and fpl performance though, especially in Salah's case.

Tbh it's almost childish to bring up any team's performance compared to City's over the past 7 years.

Who brought up FPL? Was it me?
Who compared Pool to City? You assumed that I'm a City fan because I have Silva in my grav?

You misunderstood, my point bringing up City is that it's a moot point discussing what Liverpool has won in the recent past in the context of Manchester City's dominance (for on-field and off-field reasons).

Palmer, Foden, Saka, Watkins, Haaland and Son are the players that outscored him last season and they will all blank every week and Salah will score one every week. Got it! The status quo will never change. Silly me.

Bad asset at the moment. Minimal attacking threat, defence is a bit dodgy considering they hardly get any chances against them. Mins risk and even if things get better for City, you might want three spots and its unlikely hes one of them.

this might be stupid, but do you think its a viable idea to use FTs to only put in players who have blank in previous GW(s) but passed the eye test. like their ppg has gone below what you expect of them for the season so it inevitably will rise, and if you just put in the latest bandwagon you've already missed their points. i get the idea of not chasing hauls, but this more about even not chasing hauls of players with solid underlying stats but always looking elsewhere

any player. like i stupidly did solanke to jackson this gw and straight after i did just saw Jackson's 6.3 ppg so far and Solanke 3.6. Like i expect Jackson to be (5-5.2) and Solanke (4.8-5) come end of the season, so in hindsight ignoring everything else was just stupid to do the transfer as 1 option only has an upward trajectory and the other a downward trajectory

bruno a fair example, i mean cant imagine United go 9 games without a pen very often in the prem and normally end up around 4-5 a season at least so made sense to move for him before last gw

Jackson - transfer in is still a valid decision - your evidence on ppg supports that. Looking at just an individual game is too prone to variance, but in the long term there’s good reason to suggest Jackson will outscore Solanke.

Solanke… I had him from the start of the season as I saw no reason to suggest he wouldn’t score well. Spurs highest xG team and Solanke being central to that, plus 2 home fixtures including IPS convinced me to keep faith, otherwise I probably would’ve moved on. I will actually be bringing Jackson in for him in WC12.

Bruno - I haven’t really followed him too closely this season but it has felt like one where there must be some reason why the xGI isn’t converting to returns. Without looking into it too much, that tells me there could be a lack of confidence/belief underlying things, as it feels like enough data has come in to suggest it’s something other than bad luck. I’d expect him to revert to some kind of mean but would want to see a bit more consistency first.

TLDR for me it’s probably a matter of using the data as well as my own understanding of why it’s been that way but not reacting too much to individual weeks

      3. F4L
        • 10 Years

        bruno ppg since joining United:

        4.7
        4.8
        4.2
        6.6
        8.4

so his floor it 4.2, and likely 4.5-5, in that range. underlying stats are similar to previous seasons and eye test says he's playing the same role.

        so first 9 GWs, ppg = 2.6

so to get to 4.7 lets say come end of season he has to get (38x4.7-23)/29 = 5.4 ppg from GW 10 onwards. make him a buy doesnt it. idk but think I'll start changing my transfer strategy

yea, tough to refute that. its hard to quantify variables like hitting the woodwork/shots going just wide or havent got as many pens as expected or the ball just just isn't dropping/rebounding to an attacker etc because these not happening atm doesn't mean they are a sure thing to be happening in the future.

I don't really know how to argue against it apart from just the fact that very rarely do purple patches last in excess of lets say 10 GWs, and very rarely do good assets blank for extended periods. i get there's no fair reason as to why this happens for the most part, but seems how it is. by hook or by crook players revert to their individuals means

yup, havertz ive got down as 5.2-5.4 so would mean the only way is up and ode returning will be huge

even so hes 4.5 right now having missed 4 halves of football with 10 men and playing deeper with Trossard. not even bad going tbf. if he had just braced vs Leicester or Southampton (definitely had the chances) would've been 5+

I keep thinking about doing this move. But then I keep thinking I'm swapping a Man City defender out, and bringing in a defender who plays for a team currently rooted to the bottom of the table without any clean sheets in 10

    In this team.
Who would you transfer out for Cunha?
Basically.. would you keep Watkins or Haaland long term?

In next few weeks I’d be looking to upgrade Carvalho to Palmer.

    Sels
    A Nouri - Gabriel - Lewis

    Salah - Mbuemo - Rogers - Semenyo
Haaland - Watkins - Solanke

    Sanchez - Milenkovic - Greaves - Carvalho

How do you get to Palmer from Carvalho by selling Watkins? Are you also selling Solanke or Haaland?
